Personal experience tells me leashing the Sk is a terrible idea.
I was once in a game with a very intelligent "chef" role. I was confirmed town wt the beginning of that game, so he came up with this ingenious strategy of using me as some kind of detective/role-cop/informant by paring all his matches with the conf-town. Day one, he pairs me with sk. After chatting for some time with the sk, he revealed himself; knowing he would soon be found out. So, I made a deal with him. Every night I'd post a list of three names. He kills one of them. Night 2 he tried to kill me. I only found out about this after-game because I was protected that night. Moral of the story: never trust an sk.
However, he did make effective kills from that point onwards in the game. So, I technically did leash him in the end.- House

Correct. If it's ongoing, even if the flip is mod confirmed, you cannot mention it. This is where I tend to go more similar roles. For instance, if I was to say House is the answer to The Question when I was a murderous crocodile and you were a benevolent suicidal cat, you'd find the game where you were a "cat" themed role and I was a "crocodile". Given the Question was the cop, you'd solve and deduce House was a cop here. You can get creative using the past.
If said game was still ongoing, that sort of "creativity" would be exactly what the post about not talking about ongoing games says not to try.
The rule is really really easy. You may not say anything substantive about an ongoing game. At all.
If I were in a game and it was at LYLO and taking my attention, and I said to this game "I'm in LYLO in another game so I won't be responsive here" ... that would be violating the rule.
Just about the only thing you can refer to another game for is to confirm whether or not someone is active or dormant sitewide. Pretty much everything else is gonna violate the rule the way it has been thoroughly explained.
Now ... if the game in question is over, it's free game.- Cerberus v666

I'm not gonna read it Drixx. After this game or whenever, just tell me what happened. And yes, sure, scum never gambit..but his role precludes being protected now. Before, even o the days when he didn't "find scum" the town could think he was just saved by something else. Hell, his own team could skip a kill or something, to guarantee winning in the absolute end game. The gambit here would lead nowhere but death.- LucianRoy

No ... moral of the story is don't try to leash an SK when he can kill you and only he and you know he's the SK. A publicly leashed SK with an intelligent and strong town block is an asset. You gotta know when it's time for him to get killed, and you obviously want that day to be a surprise to the SK so you don't get betrayed at the last night ... but a leashed SK has been brutally effective in the right hands.

I'm not really sure why it would be discussed that soon. One obvious mafia response to a Macho cop claim is to leave him alive a couple days and let the town lynch him. It becomes WiFoM really, and a good player can talk his way through it for a long time. Gambits are called Gambits for a reason.
Also ... any particular reason you keep capitalizing the first "M" in the word tomorrow?- elusive

In ToS, Janitor prevents town from knowing what the role and alignment is entirely. Here the alignment is clear but role is not? I'm just wondering about that part. Why only partial, is that normal?
Drixx, I'm really bad at PMs and keeping up with them. I'll send you my Skype and you can add me but I'm trying not to talk to people while in a game with them because my I don't think and talk to much.
Titus, are you defending ActionDan?
So House you are protected at night if you get a scum killed?
There's too many names in this game, its overwhelming.
Also rereading the last few pages, I think scum have an incentive to provoke town. Titus do you think Drixx or Bulbasaur are scum trying to provoke you?
Titus, I feel that only MathBlade would get my role crumbs. Also, I am a benevolent cat who loves town and at some point will need to got to the vet.
Lucian are you the day vig? That's an epic damn role that I wish I could get in a game. Has there been any discussion on limits or where you should target it?
I need to reread Drixx's post #4950. If this isn't a bastard game how is multi-ball even possible? Also if masons are alive after a certain point, they are suspect.- Drixx

It's super WiFoM. Assume he's a scum cop and he can gain town cred long enough to eliminate the other faction and do a good job at hiding his own scum team. I'm not rating it as super likely or anything, and I expect it will sort itself out within a few days. In the meanwhile, might want to just keep in in the back of our minds that the slot isn'tquiteconftown.- House

Ooh, that's a clever way to differentiate. You get Drixx points for that. Drixx points are very special. 10 Drixx points will earn you 1 house point, and whomever has the most Drixx points at the end of the winter term gets to make a wish and I will devise a plot using all my Slytherin cunning to bring about that wish.-

↑ elusive wrote:And Pirate Ika also really trolled him. Pika as it is was hard defending Trouser and so I think that is another scum. Also calls Brantz lynchbait which considering that Vyse tried to kill him means perhaps Brantz is aligned with Pika? Tbone is probably lean town based on them scum reading Pika? Toon is hated on by Pika and Vyse so probably lean town? Death comes up as a vote for Pika and a prod by Vyse. Defends wguert as a VI, why?
But this is multiball. Non-town faction members can hate each other because they're not really on the same team from their POV.
Does anyone know what Copper's role Facebooker was meant to do or if he might have crumbed anything?
Super tracker. 1 shot, track every night action performed up to the moment of use.
Why are "Tropical Volcano Lair Mafia ???" question marks at the end of Vyse's thing?
I thought it was a bastard element but apparently just a concealed flip.- elusive

All mafia roles have to have a town equivalent for balance and vice versa? So if we have mass claims (done or ongoing?) then we can match up roles and start by eliminating the roles that break balance?
Someone has been hopefully making a list that they would share? If not then let's have everyone re-claim popcorn style?

Not defending ActionDan. Drixx scum, Bulba is town.
I think I get what your saying but the vet skipped town pregame.
Who do you love the most? Do you get to choose or are you in an arrange marriage?ShowThe scum had the misfortune of Titus being absurdly accurate on day one.Really quite impressed by that.~Drixx

I was effectively used as a day-vig, but I'm really a Vengilante, a hybrid of a vengeful and a vigilante. I had a one-shot gun that could be used at any time during the day or night phase, and I could also use it within 48 hours of my death. The shot's gone, but C'est la vie.
Janitor was a general term. There are plenty of other roles that can hide a scum kill.
Like the random town identity stealing role. That was one f'd game. The only reason it didn't end in a counter-clam battle was because the two people whose roles were countered were very good friends, and they didn't want to spoil that in a shouting contest. I was a gambit role that could reveal one player and their role upon death in that game. That's what led to the cc battle that never occurred.- Titus

I have no idea elusive. I don't think so. The thing about me that you should know is that I get scum read pretty much always. There's some element of how I think and work through things that makes people get a scum vibe off me. Cerb can vouch for that. I'm also quite successful (at least off site I was) at scumhunting ... to the point that I became an early nightkill target and for awhile it became a running joke that if I was alive past night 2, I must be scum. This has been the case since I started playing forum mafia, and it is one of the reasons I've been experimenting with my game since I joined this site.
Don't get me wrong ... a little scum stink is useful as a townie if said townie is good at sniffing out scum more often than not, because so long as scum think they can get you mislynched, they're likely to shoot someone else. The problem is when shit happens like happened in this game on day 2.
@Titus and Elusive - Slytherin was a bad straw man of a joke in canon HP until the big reveal that motivates what HP says to ASP in the Epilogue. Viewed through that lens, it's not so bad really. There's something to be said for cunning used for good
@Elusive - That's an interesting breadcrumb you're doing. I wonder if I'm picking it up correctly. We'll have to see. I won't blurt out my guess and I wouldn't even mention it if you weren't being so blatant about it- Drixx

If they do that early game, they lose. After wiping out the other non-town factions, you are relying on 1 NK and 1 mislynch a day, and you need to down like 17+ towns over the course of the game. It's much easier for the non-town factions to not trade kills and get as many people (mainly town) dying as possible until non-town win chance is better and THEN have a mafia war.
With 1 down from each of the 2 scum factions, town win chance is actually pretty good already to complain about not too many crossfire happening.-

I'm completely and utterly defenseless to night kills of any type.
There is nothing whatsoever stopping scum from killing me and ridding this game of an investigative role.
I'm a sitting duck.
