I just like to err on the side of assuming night actions gave useful information when I'm not sure.

I was just thinking about how Cabd has been sitting at L-1 for so long, and there was speculation about day actions earlier, and wondering why there hadn't been a hammer yet if Cabd was scum.

But I think I'm overthinking it.

zoraster brought up the activity overview. "What about Cabd? I thought he was replacing out?"

Magua hemmed and hawed. "I'm sure that there's a lot going on in his life." Inspiration. "And really, what's more important? A mafia game, or your real life?"

zoraster narrowed his eyes.

Magua blinked. "I'll prod him."

Days later...

"Magua," zoraster said, "What's the Cabd situation?"

"Well, um." Magua rung his hands. "It's complicated. See, the thing is, really, um, uh, the thing is..."

zoraster chewed on his Cuban cigar. "Forget it. I'm modkilling him."

"What?" Magua shrieked, "You can't do that, it's..."

"And cutting your pay." zoraster blew a cloud of smoke into Magua's face. "Get out of here."

Magua dragged himself into the office.

It hadn't been a good night, and for that matter, it hadn't been a good Night. Bleary-eyed, he reviewed the night actions submitted for his game and pondered.

Rhinox was going to die.

But Rhinox was his friend. On the rare occasions when zoraster let them off work before eight, they'd often go and play air hockey together.

He didn't want Rhinox to die.

A hastily posted "There's a delay" message in the game had given him the night to think, but it hadn't helped. He had tossed and turned all night, hardly sleeping, feeling just as miserable this morning as he had last night.

But right there, sitting right at the computer, he had had an idea. Simple in its brilliance. What if...what if Rhinox simply didn't die? Ha. Ha ha. Yes! That was it! That was the solution...just ignore it!

Giggling quietly to himself, Magua wrote up the opening Day flavor, neglecting to mention a battered and bloody Rhinox corpse at all.

Hours later...

"Magua," zoraster glowered, "What the hell do you think you're doing?"

"Well," Magua replied, "Right now I'm talking to you because you cal..."

"Don't be a wiseass, dumbass," zoraster said. He pointed one gold-ringed finger at his monitor. "I've got complaints from your game about people not dying when they should."

"Er," Magua said, thinking fast. "I'm sure there's a perfectly logic..."

"Stuff it," zoraster thundered. "I've been watching you. I know this wasn't a mistake." Magua watched in terror as he saw zoraster open up the super secret listmod console, and enter in a single command:

Satisfied, zoraster turned back to Magua. "You're on thin ice," zoraster warned, gesturing towards the console. "There's dozens of people anxious to do your job, without all the mistakes. Shape up or get out."
