Not everyone looks at replacing out the same way. For example I avoid it at all costs if I can't help otherwise. If you want to argue nullness, staying and being useless vs replacing out are both not things to scumread someone over. It depends on the player.

No that's a personal thing because he organized a big fucking hydra for Ceph's last game and then fucking abandoned it to me immediately at a time when I couldn't devote full-time to playing mafia. I was so glad he replaced out so I didn't have to deal with that. I didn't get so much as an apology from any of them for flaking on me.
