My role EXPLICITLY says that I will receive a 1-shot ability upon self-inventing. There is no reason for it to state that unless there is benefit by putting inventing off.

You must understand that standard practice would have been to just say something like : "Upon inventing you receive an ability".

Instead it said that I would receive a 1-shot ability. There is a reason for that.

I know that we might have been overthinking this and that there is a chance that the role would have been the same all along. But the wording implies there is something going on.

Unless you can think of a scum role that self-targets, I think letting Iec track me is a pretty safe course of action.

The difference is that a role that is supposed to be completely hidden from you is announced as being 1-shot.

Think from the mod's perspective.
This is the only way he can hint at that putting off the inventing might be beneficial.

Re: it proving something, you could just be the scum version of your own role. It would prove that you can target yourself, but that's just kinda uniformly rare rather than rare for scum in particular I think.

I feel like if the Mod wanted a role whose invention gets better over time, he would just say as much in the role PM. Because most players would just use it N1 and he would waste all his potential balancing adventures for later.

Because of this, I have not yet invented and am looking to do so this night.

I wish I had meta on whether Wisdom can't do critical thinking as town. He described himself as "stubborn" in is wiki, maybe related. The willful selective ignorance is intense.
