The problem is that while discussion is good, too much discussion causes town to circle and doubt itself.

That happens to me a lot. Not to mention I tend to get easily swayed (I think that's been obvious enough if anyone with good memory of me recalls, at least if I'm town; not sure about scum-me since my last scumgame was Shadows and Lights).

In all seriousness though, what the hell was that vote on Plotinus. Holy cow. It was such an obvtown slot.

There was a kill that continued long after it had any right to, strongly suggesting that we still had one killing faction. With that in mind, and given that this game was stated to

not be bastard

, Brantz was ruled out for being absent at the only point when anyone could have used that kill ability. There was no way I could look at it where Brantz could be scum given these conditions, given that otherwise, it would involve the mod lying to us, i.e. bastard. Therefore, no matter how much Plot might look town, all evidence pointed to Plot. In these situations, you kill who PoE tells you is obv/conf scum, no matter how you feel. No one was counting on kills that didn't make sense or modding that, while technically not bastard, was definitely flirting with the line. So in the end I was drug back into this game from my attempt to disappear for absolutely nothing, because no sort of analysis could adequately prepare for this.

I disagree Bulbazak. Your insistence on knowijg which kill MUST have been associated with the remaining scums slot, when you had no way of knowing if, meant your PoE was fundamentally flawed. You threw out options for no good reason, and that led you to the wrong conclusions.

I could have pot shotted you on any of like 3 days, but I instead chose to duke it out during the day like a man.

It was about ending the game on a good note, not about balance. Plotinus and BC can correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that this was a better / more interesting result than "lol we won cuz scum flaked at deadline".

I don't give a shit about it being "more interesting". The moment the mod makes the game about being "more interesting" (with the caveat of the game still being in progress and the game EXPLICITLY NOT BASTARD) is when the game immediately becomes not interesting. Winning because we dragged this out to deadline, allowed the lack of an NK prove Brantz/NM was scum, and lynched them D12 would've been fine. Or losing in that same scenario because then it was our fuckup that caused us to lose, and we'd have deserved it. And I fully accept I, at least, lost due to overreliance on thinking BRantz's ability was too powerful to be scum. But winning or losing because the mod decided "This game isn't interesting enough/anymore! We're gonna intervene to make it so!" via replacing a player when he was decidedly NOT in prod/replace range by deadline is fucking awful and you should feel bad.

P-EDIT: I was just too burnt out having to carry this hydra, and too floored by the lack of gameover to try, too. Again, my fault on that.

It was referring to the fact that a town win pretty much rested on your ability to convince BC that the Brantz slot was scum. I honestly didn't see any flaws in your endgame play (except as I mentioned, I'd have kept to myself the fact that BC was conftown--- I'd have left it open for NM to trip over it if possible)

Remember, you didn't need to convince NM that you're town, you needed to convince BC. And honestly, I think you did a good job of both positioning yourself as town and NM as scum. The outcome was kind of out of your hands in some ways because of setup spec, but you played well with the hand you were dealt. I'd have played the endgame the same way you did--- although, to be honest, probably not as well.

"The Widowmaker-" making widows of scum spouses, and orphans of their children, decimating them in endgame to stand atop their corpses in victory. Regardless of the game's outcome, you're definitely on my radar now as a Player To Watch in 2015.

The newbie game I replaced into back in May, scum had made a bad case against the IC and he was at L-1 for his playstyle. And I subbed in and started hard defending him and deathtunnelled the scum (who didn’t have any votes on him yet when i replaced in). And one of the newbies in that game, I’d been scum with her on the other site. And she’d been voting the IC herself and believing everything the scum was saying. But when I replaced in she was willing to believe me, because she knew that regardless of my alignment I wouldn’t be lying. I was town in that game, but it benefits me as both alignments for it to be known that I never lie about anything. I omit things, I focus on true things that will further my wincon and ignore true things that will not further my wincon. Like I don’t say “come on, scum slip already so i can mislynch you” to people. that would be silly. I just refrain from mentioning.

The only time I lie as scum is when I answer questions like “are you town?”
