Smalltown is a variation on open setup. Everyone has a role name and ability, and it is known who has what role and exactly how that role works. Alignment is separately and randomly determined. Check out the previous two Smalltowns to get a better idea.[i]The hungry maw of Twilight snaps, but shall not have its fill,

Dude, do you love every single theme I do?The Fonz wrote:Before I forget- Freedom Force Mafia anyone?
I demand you make this game. Now.
I think it's called Smalltown because everyone would know each other in a really small town, and would therefore now everyone else's occupation.
And Fonz, Seol: Sarnath'd!

I'll add this to the wiki later tonight if no one else does first. It's kind of a neat idea.Retired as of October 2014.- Zindaras

Seol: I now remember thatyouwere the person talking about making a heroes theme game before. Sorry about that.
I like the smalltown format, i also like that scrubs was 12 pages so i could read all of it quickly.
Could heroes work as both Smalltown and No Reveal, so that role (powers) would be revealed but alignment would not be?- Zindaras

I never got to finish the first. Those last levels (where you have to get to the Timemaster) were just too darned difficult (first time I played it I kept losing at the Pan part, the second time at the Microwave part).ShowFinished: 159 (120 Town, 33 Mafia, 5 Other, 1 Cult, 4 Cultivated)

Ever since Ultimatum Mafia, I've been toying with the idea of a Big Brother Mafia that uses the international standard rules. In the international rule set (or BBUS1) each player nominates two others and the top nomination getters overall (more than two if there's a tie for second) are up for eviction and then the public votes to eliminate one of those. Basically I was thinking of a way that the Ultimatum vote could be reversed in a way. Since there's no way to incorporate a public voting system, I'd use eliminated pro-town players to act as the public (as a note, this would be a nightless game and thus all eliminated players were lynched)
Therefore would people be interested in a game where the alive players do not ultimately decide who is lynched each cycle? And is that considered mafia then? Essentially the town can influence who is up for eviction by their nominations. And then once nominations are announced, they can bring up good cases on any of the nominated people, but the dead pro-town players would have to be watching the thread to ultimately decide who joins them. Dead players could not communicate with each other or post in thread or communicate with alive players. In its current conception, dead mafia cannot vote since that would severely unbalance the game.
I think this can be an interesting concept because lynched townspeople have the final say and continue to participate in the game, but I don't know if this qualifies as mafia.

Here's my current draft of a semiopen setup:
12 players, day start
2/3 chance Sane Cop, 1/3 chance Insane Copchange: 100% chance sane cop
1/2 chance Devil1, 1/4 chance Naive Cop, 1/4 chance Paranoid Cop
1/2 chance Doctor
1/3 chance Vigilante, 2/3 chance Serial Killer2
1/2 chance Psychiatrist2
1/2 chance protown Roleblocker5, 1/2 chance mafia possess a Roleblocker
1/2 chance two protown Loverschange: no lovers, so that we can have at least two townies
1/2 chance Lyncher3
3 mafia:
1/21/3 chance Godfather,1/21/3 chance Framer4change: plus 1/3 chance neither!
Unallocated positions are townies.
notes
1: Devil is promafia, doesn't know who mafia are, at night investigates players to learn whether they are a power role (cop doc vig sk psych townrb). Exits and loses if all mafia die before he does.
2: If Psychiatrist exists and targets SK, he becomes a Vig if heand the Psychsurvives to morning. (This is to give mafia incentive to kill an SK who claims in order to be converted.) Psychiatrist receives no notification of success. SK receives no buffs, sorry....well, maybe we can say the SK can endgame any other single player!
3: Lyncher exits and wins if target is lynched while lyncher is still alive; wins if town wins and lyncher is still alive. Doesn't become a simple townie if target is NKed.Target is chosen randomly from all towniesand, if extant, psychiatrist.
4: Not sure how long a framing should stay effective. "Same night only" seems weaker than a godfather, but "permanent effect" seems much stronger.change: I think a single night is fine!
5: Targeting roles will be told if a move failed due to a roleblock.
Not sure about which endgame rule to use.change: keep playing until from available information it is clear one side must win
Any comments now? TIA.Last edited by Kelly Chen on Tue Sep 04, 2007 2:07 am, edited 5 times in total.- Nekka-Lucifer

I'd like to put a claim down onUtopian Mafiaa mini based on the MMO Utopia.
The idea is to make the losing side more powerful while allowing the winning side to hold its own.
Not sure how the %'s would work, it could result in a clear win either side by that side getting the good odds.
There are three setups I'm deveolping:
1. The % of each powerrole increases as that side loses (i.e. the docs chance to protect increases as townies die)
2. Powerroles appear as that side loses (i.e. mafia are all goons and town are all vanillia at start)
3. Powerroles improve (rolename cop becomes cop, jailer becomes doc, tracker becomes vig)
If you'd be willing to discus this with me shoot me a PM I'd love to talk about it.It's unfortunate that good oral sex excuses bad chemistry. - Korts- HackerHuck

They have. They just used the American name for the game, Clue, as HackerHuck pointed out.Nekka-Lucifer wrote:I CALLCLUEDO MAFIA
I already got loads of roles. Possible and extra. . I can't believe no-one's thought of it so far though
MoS is currently running one which, I believe, is based on the movie. Somebody in the past year ran one based on the board game. I'm too lazy to go find the thread, but it's in the depths of Coney Island somewhere. - Glork
