As announced here, the next thirty games (Newbie 1652-1681) will be run with daytalk for the Mafia faction. This means the thread will not be locked during day phases, and Mafia may choose to strategize or coach each other in real time. This is a trial period to see the effect on balance and new player retention. We may keep this permanently, depending on the results.

Please note that this does NOT apply to any games that are currently ongoing (Newbie 1651 and earlier). These still have Mafia communication only at night.

You still count as a newbie, actually. (In practice, it doesn't make much difference beyond you're assigned to your game much more quickly but can join fewer newbie games at once.) Lots of players with experience on other sites feel more comfortable starting in the newbie queue.
