After what felt like another day of arguing back and forth, I suddenly had an idea.
"OK. Challenge time!"
"What?! Since when does a game of mafia have 'challenges' on top of it? Jeez, all I wanna do is kick the mafia's asses already. You're just getting in the way!"
Nikki spoke up. What betrayal! She was the one most in favor of this when I brought the idea up a while back, despite it not being outside or involving any sort of exercise. Mostly because, I assume, of how suspenseful and intriguing it was. Not to mention, after all, it's nonsense to accuse a game moderator of getting in the way of their own game. But I had a plan.
"Since this has gone on for hours -"
"It's only been 12 minutes!"
"Oh, don't sweat the details. But this is getting really boring, so I have a plan. We'll all race from here to the lake at the east end of the Heights. Whoever is last loses!"
Suddenly, the atmosphere shifted. Nikki perked up and started beaming, practically, while everyone else groaned.
"Ready ... GO!"
Nikki immediately ran off, as I felt a direct cut through the air next to me. Everyone else's reactions ranged from begrudgingly getting up and slowly walking out of the room to just standing there. At my behest, everyone left - moderating is harder than it looks - but, as I said before, I had a plan.

Vayne Aurelius had picked up his pace a bit, to a slow jog, while Sulpher complained to him about how pointless this was and how weird humans were. Suddenly...
"Hold it right there!"
"Huh? Tony? What are you doing out here?"
"What do you think I'm doing? I've been ordered to beat you up, of course. Sorry, not sorry."
Vayne thought to himself, "... now? Wasn't Tony part of our game of mafia?"
Vayne won the fight, but arrived to the lake only to be the last one there.
"Aaaand the last one is ... Vayne?! You've failed me! How could my co-Defender of Justice lose a simple footrace?"
The truth was, Vayne wasn't supposed to be delayed so badly by that fight. It was merely a test. As a fellow Defender of Justice, it was his duty to be able to conquer all evil, at any time, at any place, whenever necessary. Stopping some low-level hoodlum who only liked to pretend to get in the way should have been a piece of cake! This result should never have happened!
Plus, I was secretly watching. I wasn't sure if it was more entertaining to watch Tony lose to my pupil, than it would have been to push the loser into the pond like I had originally intended.
