I originally became a jungle main because in the 1200-1400 elo range in s1 nobody mained jungle, so I basically got to jungle J4/ww/amumu every game.
Then I because a support main b/c once I hit gold there were other jungle mains.- BROseidon

Like, in team fights, it takes a lot of presence of mind or just insanely good game sense to know when the enemy casters are between spell rotations because so much shit is going on. Like, I probably do it better than a gold player, but I probably also don't really have to think about it as much b/c I've developed an intuition that's going to be more accurate.-

2 games from today. don't lose your gold promo, it makes you lose forever.

the first is a standard kayle mid roam game, ganking bot relentlessly until the lane breaks while top/jung are winning top. i become insanely fed and carry while the other team continually bunches up and focuses the wrong person (ie: not me). the other team tries to rush a baron and i clean them up while they are confused and being idiots for a penta (5 assists to baron) and then a quad in garbage time as i try to corral my team into pushing not a lane i opened an inhib on. fire is everywhere. kayle wins.
the second is a standard kayle mid roam game, ganking bot relentlessly but nothing comes of it while top/jung are winning top. brand becomes insanely fed and carries while my team continually bunches up and focuses the wrong person (ie: nobody). we are unable to defend anything at any point in the game, yi is a nooblord who can't stack his torch and stays out of fights until 3 people have target CC for him to instagib. frustratingly, duo q lucian refuses to fight. fire is everywhere. brand wins.
so in both games my setup is the same, and weirdly, my toplaner wins handily. in both games there is almost zero contact between midlaners, as brand is both not a good matchup for me and more lucky/timely/skillful in his ganks than I am (and they coordinate a tp 4 man bot dive). I largely ignore Ryze due to him realizing i am not a good matchup for him, and KZ skirting me for the early game. i take my time in the win and i really take my time in the loss, lots of methodical play and swooping around since it was really obvious we were going to lose due to no dmg. boring watches for both games but possibly useful for aspiring mids who don't understand that the man standing across from you is the least important member of their team. also worth noting that i generally save my summoners in case i might need them since I am fed and the kills won't do much for me but I don't want to die, and kaylee is very fast so you almost never have to flash to chase someone unless they clear a wall.
sometimes you burn, sometimes they burn. fire is everywhere. in any case, it's nice to see some games totally dictated by the AP carry again.- Dwlee99

True.
Big thing for me is picking back up a bunch of game knowledge. I've never been a super mechanical player (not just in League - the only game where I ever got my mechanics to what I would call "good" is SC2, and even there it was more getting a really good macro system in place and being vaguely able to baneling-split).
It's why I've never tried to get actually good at SSBM - the mechanical barrier to entry is super high, so it's easier to just play for fun and wavedash around with Luigi spamming smashes than to try to play a top-tier and actually learn all of the tricks.- Psyche

If she feels useless, then you don't fundamentally understand how to teamfight enough to make her work. She's a control mage that wins fights through directing them in a certain way and cutting off options for the enemy team rather than just killing them outright. You're going to have issues if you play her like a carry mage.
