To be honest I got really triggered when BTD made the comment about lynching our most helpful player, I just saw that that wasn't going anywhere but nonalignment indicative drivel where people discuss to what extent the IC was helpful, or an RVS was intended to get someone lynched, or BTD's vote meant anything, and I really did not want to go through that. Eventually we'd be "out" of RVS, but over stuff that would be concluded to not actually mean anything. This is also the tone meant to be conveyed in the word apparently.
Liking Guy's entry into the game except for the color choice (Gray being the color of the suits the Mafia wear and all), and curious what RC has to say about that post.
On the subject of thatguy, he has a cool avatar. Can the people without avatars choose something so it's easier to differentiate them?- cytheflyguy

I didn't realize that, but I suppose it might be the case. I will reevaluate my plan next game, but it would ruin the experiment to change my vote right now.
I read Karnos' early posts and found something odd. Karnos, in his first post, said that anyone else is free to convince him to change his vote. However, he then said that he refuses to change his vote due to an "experiment". It's a bit contradictory, and what even is his experiment? Also, that Q7 answer seemed quite defensive. I know it's not much in total, but he's currently a scumread of mine and it's probably enough to justify voting for him instead of RadiantCowbells. Karnos, please explain this experiment of yours.

1) why is your alternative vote option me
and
2) these Karnos scumreads are really bad.
I'll give a case for why I'm townreading him at some point today. please don't put him to L-1.2019 stats: Town WR 76.7%, overall WR 81.667%, 1 scum defeat involving a major mod error in lylo vs 8 scum wins.- BTD6_maker

I was being serious about my Q7 btw, I was VT and I lived until the end (D3), although I'm also in another Newbie game rn which (see the admin threads) I'm not allowed to talk about.
I agree with the Karnos scumreads, but I'm not going to vote for him until he does something seriously scummy, treat it like probation (also if I put him to L-1 an opportunistic newb will hammer), in the meantime I'll go for my second highest scum read (but it's still so weak it might as well be null).

You are misrepresenting what I wrote.
"Being at the top of the player list is my favored method of RNG, soyou win my first vote. Feel free to convince me to change it."
I thought I was being perfectly clear: when I said "you', I was talking about cytheflyguy, and the following sentence was directed at him, not everyone in the game. The whole point of a day 1 random vote is to get the person talking, right? I want to see cytheflyguy explain why he isn't mafia, and then when I am satisfied I will change my vote. Does it make sense now?

Here are the reasons why I think he's guilty. That comment about being innocent seems defensive, and even I know how long the day goes for, or at least I know where to look, so it's strange that he's so confident to vote for karnos (it's not entirely obvious how to do that vote highlighting thing) but asks that question.
While I appreciate the fact that you are voting for someone who is voting for me, I think your reasoning is a bit off. I'm pretty sure he is voting for me simply because I voted for him first. Anyway, statistically it's about 75% likely we are both town.- cytheflyguy

Yes, the IC is helpful but the arguments about that topic would not be lol.
Not feeling the Karnos wagon at all right now. I think the best case is thatguy's and that he could be read as trying to appease with my questions but right now I don't agree with that interpretation. His second post bleeds cooperative nature, and he seems more than willing to be helpful. I think if I ask someone to do something, and they do it, it would be incredibly silly for me to then call them out on trying to appease me.
The vote on cytheflyguy seems really bad too, and I think discouraging people from asking strictly technical questions in newbie games even if they can read the rules is bad culture. We have an IC for a reason.
Sigh. I suppose even if you try RQS people are just going to pick out the most ridiculous things and vote based on that anyway. This is the part where I'd normally look at people with the bad votes but I'm not getting the vibe that they're pushing for lynches, just that this is what they could come up with.
My vote needs to go somewhere other than Karnos since mine was RVS and I don't agree with it anymore. Call it OMGUS if you want but my vote will obviously move around as I have more information, and it's not because she's voting me (I don't feel threatened yet). I would like Huntress to contribute more.
VOTE: Huntress
Now you can either vote your top scumread in Karnos without going to L-1, tojam, or you can explain your scumread on me.-

Interesting. So if I was less pro-town, maybe if I sounded more like scum, then you would read me as a town player?
I think a lot of that "appeaser" tone to my post comes from the fact that I am a newbie, this is my second game. I'm not super sure about how people play on these boards, so I am just spelling everything out in detail rather than being terse and abrupt. In my (brief) experience playing here, I've noticed scum are often the quiet players who post the minimum amount to keep suspicion off, without trying to draw attention to themselves.- Ghostwheel

Yo cytheflyguy you can answer my questions if you don't know what to do, it really helps me out.
You can also put a third vote on me to pressure me, that's how people move the game along, but if no one gives a real reason for the scumread I'm at a loss. Sure I'm talkative and opinionated and that can draw controversy, but come on. At least ask me a question, or ask other people questions concerning my behavior if my scumread is so strong not to want to interact with me. Everyone on the wagon is just "meh, Ghostwheel"
You'll find I'm a cooperative and open player, I'll answer questions about just about anything, and if I don't want to answer, I'll probably tell you why.- cytheflyguy

If we're going by that logic (of watching out for the quiet ones), then thatguy would be the most sus (susp? suspicious? Idk some of your lingo besides what I read on the wiki), as he is (to my knowledge) the only person that has not cast a vote.

Ok, sorry. In all honesty, I wanted to change my vote to someone, but idk who yet. You do seem to be coopertive, but like Karnos with me, unless you have someone more sus that you can convince me of, I won't change my vote, I'm afraid.-

As a townie, your vote is your only power, why aren't you using it? Are you actually scum?
Not that I am convinced he is a bad guy... I just want to see some more discussion, a vote from him preferably. Besides, I was already planning to change my vote tosomeone.-

Scum aren't exactly skittish to do scummy things, if they see your vote's on a townie and it's not going away until I find something else they can lie low and let me get lynched lol. This is not going to happen because the game's going to move forward in some capacity, but clearly you're not going to be a part of that.
You're afraid? You're sorry? Your hands are not tied, you have control over your own destiny. If you are town the advice I have for you is to be more proactive. Sit down, read a few of the posts, and bring something to someone else's attention. Leaving an empty vote on people while asking them to change your mind doesn't give us insight into how you play. Scum can take advantage of that to get an extra vote on their wagon, and as scum you become difficult to read and desirable to lynch.
Don't be afraid to have your own opinion, even if you are new. I at least won't judge. All you have said this game is that you are town, this is not good enough.- BTD6_maker

Karnos is now a nulltell of mine. I'm not sure of the reasoning behind the Ghostwheel wagon; if anything, he's a weak townread of mine. I don't get the cytheflyguy wagon, as it's clear that any bad play or mistakes are because he's new, not because he's scum. I also can't see the Huntress wagon. Could someone please explain their reads? I'm not sure who to vote of in this case as I have no actual scumreads. It's clear that the Karnos wagon has collapsed and my vote is not doing much on it so UNVOTE: Karnos. I'll vote when I think someone has a scumread.
In fact, if anyone has reads on me, please give them, provided you can explain the reasons. I'm wondering why no one is reading me. Do people generally only read the wagons?- cytheflyguy

@BTD6 Want reads on you? Post opinions, like you just did! If I'm not calling attention to you, it's probably a good thing. I don't like outing top town reads for scum to nightkill unless I have a reason for it.
I don't think Huntress is scum yet, but as of now she's done little to help me read her. While I expected someone to accuse me of distracting from the game rather than adding to it (Hence question 4), I still don't find that to have been true and I consider it a cheap shot. Accusing me of role fishing simply by reminding people of the power they already have to ask questions is also pretty weak.
I don't feel threatened by weak arguments but I would like to poke her to contribute more so I can develop my read.- BTD6_maker

I'm not trying to policy lynch here. I'm simply trying to give the Thatguy wagon enough votes in order to pressure him into being more active. Please don't put him into L-1 unless absolutely necessary.
I myself don't have a scumread on him (come to think about it, I don't have much worse than nullish reads at the moment). However, if he becomes more active, the town can read him easier. Same with Hoppic, although they at least have voted. Their reasons are debatable, though, as it seems now that cytheflyguy's tells are more newbie tells than anything. However, this happened after their vote. Also, Hoppic is far from being pressured so my vote wouldn't help that much as apart from lurking, they pretty much have no tells so I can't read them well enough.- Hoppic

[quote="In post 19, Ghostwheel"]OK I'm getting bored because apparently the scum are too smart to slip up during RVS (shocker!) and people don't even seem to be making random votes, jokes, or the absurd overreactions people are usually happy to call out for the sole purpose of advancing the game so I'm doing an RQS. Deal with it.
1. What's your name?
2. What's your time zone?
3. How much NOC (no outside communication) experience do you have?
4. Do you think questionnaires serve to advance the game or are they distracting?
5. Are you Mafia?
6. What is your favorite color?
7. If you could add one question to this questionnaire, what would it be? Answer it.
1. Hoppic
3. Not much. I played a similar game on another site and I was really bad at scumreading, although it got easier towards the end when you could look back and know who was innocent and guilty.
4. Talking is good? So possibly advance.
5. No
6. Orange
7. What's the best strategy for finding mafia? Idk.- BTD6_maker

Do you still consider cytheflyguy scum? I think that if anything, those are newbie tells. Also, Ghostwheel will find some connection between orange and Mafia. Either way, it's not a scumtell, but your reaction may be. You mentioned Ghostwheel as your second strongest scumread and voting now may pressurise him, but I personally get a townread from him. - BTD6_maker
