You qualify as SE now. That means a slower Queue for you, but it also means you know enough about the game that you will (hopefully) not be making really bad newb mistakes. In post 5276, eagerSnake wrote:Oh wait, that would be my 3rd game as a newbie so I guess I don't qualifyI was anything worse than you! Hmm.. I really have no idea why they do it like that. To be qualified for SE they want you in a game that is not a beginner game I suppose. Only one thing left to do, I think you know what. I suggest you enter into a mini and a micro at the same time, then go back to Newbie if you want or if you feel ready, take on a bigger/more complex setup. Just FYI, I don't think there is anything wrong with hitting up the newbie queue for a while, but you really should see what else is out there. In post 5278, eagerSnake wrote:

It sounds like you'd enjoy a lot of micro setups then. Micro opens aren't super common but non role madness micros will have more of a variety of possible roles. Or if u like "everyone has roles" stuff then look for role madness type micros. In post 5280, eagerSnake wrote:I just really like the Matrix6 setup although it would be really nice to have a few more roles like maf GF town RBer OSV etcShowhttp://wiki.mafiascum.net/index.php?title=Mhsmith0

Playing in more (different) setups will make you a more well rounded player. I don't really like role madness games myself, but I play them anyways because I know that it is a different kind of game that can help me with the games IIn post 5280, eagerSnake wrote:I just really like the Matrix6 setup although it would be really nice to have a few more roles like maf GF town RBer OSV etcdolike. Besides, IDK how many different games you have played and you might find your niche by branching out and trying new stuff. Don't stay stagnant. In everything you have to keep moving to go forward.I was anything worse than you! Anything worse than you was I!

There is a procedure. You have to have other games modded if you are to mod a newbie game. I suggest you head over to the normal queue and mod a game or two there before doing a newbie. I am unsure of rules for alts that have a previous account where you would be qualified to mod a newbie game. In any case, modding a newbie game is a bit like being an IC in that it is somewhat considered a service to mod a newbie game and as such, you should both have the qualifications met and have them shown if you are going to mod a newbie game.

No, I am not, which is why I said all that stuff about alts and modding a newbie game. I could be wrong; I don't know the particulars of alts modding newbie games, but I guess I just see no reason for and alt to even want to mod a newbie game since there are some stipulations to modding newbie games and it is generally known that most people who mod newbies do so with their main accounts. Perhaps I should not have said anything. I just thought if it was not known to the mod in question about the stipulations for modding newbie games that they would get an answer sooner rather than later. I do know people who might do this thinking they would be qualified without knowing the specific qualifications for this site since they would be and experienced player/modder who comes from another site(s). What I know of this site is that the meta here is not as flexible as some other sites when it comes to bending rules. This is fine as long as it is known that this is the system by which things are run here. Ofc I wouldn't want the mod in question to feel embarrassed, but I feel them knowing sooner rather than later that the system here is more set than adaptive wouldn't hurt.In post 5286, Zyf wrote:

Let's see if I got this right:- Players sign up by posting in thread here. Mods (Game hosts) pick up those signs and when there are enough, a game thread for 1732 is created.
I'll get a pm, "I reply back saying yes I'm here."
Then I proceed to wreck or get wrecked.
Also, how do I check how close the queue is to be filled?
How much time should I set aside (assuming I die at the statistically average time/win)?
Random post link -> nope it doesn't work that way. sad.- Plotinus

Most of this is right! You'll get a PM (which might or might not result in an email, the email servers have been down for a while), so it's good to check the site once every day or two while you wait. You can read completed games to get a feel for what the site culture is like. You can read ongoing games too but there's a rule against talking about them and it's easier not to talk about something you aren't reading...) or you could check out the discussion forums and the wiki while you wait. It could be a few days to a week to wait depending on how many people signup and when the queue is updated. In post 5290, secondpassing wrote:/in as a newer player

The PM you get will have your role and alignment and a link to the game thread and instructions on how to confirm (usually you reply by saying what your role and alignment are so the mod knows that you read it.) And then there's another couple days wait for pregame while everybody confirms.
Newbie games last about a month, a month and a half, but playing doesn't need to take too much of your day, and if you need to take a break because of offline stuff, just tell the mod how much time you need and when you'll be back. The failure mode of clever is asshole.

1732 filled a couple hours ago. 1733 needs maybe 4-5 more newbies, it depends, but the queue isn't updated the minute there's enough people. The listmod waits until there's a small buffer for replacements. If some of the newbies don't reply to their role PMs in time, then you may wind up in 1732 in a few days, otherwise you'll be in 1733. You're 3rd from the top of the queue so you'll be in the next game for sure. The failure mode of clever is asshole.
