It's more common than you'd think. I did that the entire MGSV for PeregrineV (although there was a whole different point to it)

for ceph it seems like your case is "heres these things he did now heres the sinister motivation for them"

idk what your case on kdowns is independent of ceph... what is it?

If I have a friend in a game that I think is playing on the level based on how I expect them to play and I feel people are wagoning them for unfair reasons, I would defend them?
I've done that a lot with Aristophanes.

1. I understand that people have a life outside of mafia. I wasn't sure if I'd be able to post because I just started going to University, but I've had a lot more time than I first suspected. But I digress.
2. I don't have a problem with the premise. It's the way he said it. "Sheep me because I know him" is the implied sentiment.

PEdit: That's partially true, but the thing is that this motivation is more likely than benevolence. Cephrir's playstyle this far has shown that when he does step in, he likes to be in control of things (shown by his wait-and-see policy)

Additionally, KDowns reminds me a lot of PV's play. "Let's do nothing worth noting so that I still have some activity, but it doesn't help at all"

PPEdit: @Farside It's not the statement itself that irks me. It's that it wasn't requested. I don't really care about your flavor.
@Cheetory You would defend them, but I know for a fact you'd give more reason than "I know them, so just sheep me". You'd give specific examples, and point out reasoning behind certain quirky behaviors.

How does such a small post warrent rope?

He asked for you to articulate your thoughts, and then he expressed curiocity on a read you had.

i) Work is a lot harder to balance with mafia than school in my experience.
ii) If kdowns was still lurking by like.. end of day, then I would understand the sentiment you have towards him, but this early in the phase when he's made it pretty clear he's busy just makes this seem a little unreasonable and goes back to what Anti's trying to get at.
iii) I'm pretty sure there's been times where I haven't elaborated on things in the same situation but now we're getting into a weird conversation that's not really about the game anymore >.>. Basically I don't really think that it's scummy that Ceph doesn't give reasoning/overexplain himself there? I can maybe look to see if Ceph's activity this game has been opportunistic when I'm back from lunch, but as far as I can recall his engagement has seemed pretty reasonable/organic?
keyen wrote:Cheet, Scum slip? maybe?
I don't really understand how it would be a slip in that context.. a slip implies that it's like an accidental reveal of something where this would have to be a very intentional move by Ceph?

There is a difference between defending lurkers and pointing out that lurking is not a particularly scummy trait unless there are situational reasons or it's accompanied by posting elsewhere on the site. I will always shoot down bad attacks. Get used to it because <I'm gonna delete the rest of this sentence in the interest of not being a dick.>

I'm gonna delete the rest of this sentence in the interest of not being a dick. And then the kicker. He said "Out of everyone here, I know KDowns the best, and this fits his character". I mean okay if anyone else here wants to speak up and say they've had meaningful interactions with kdowns then by all means do so. Why would I say this if it weren't true.

my god that is too funny

Referring to this one, btw.

@DS: I'm giving you an @ just to let you know that I see your posts and I don't care about them.
Your post was too dumb to earn a response. I didn't see the point in going back and forth about it and cluttering up the thread with, well, <I'm gonna delete the rest of this sentence in the interest of not being a dick.>
In post 647, DiamondSentinel wrote:Well, for me, the biggest thing is that Ceph consistently tried to defend lurkers (way more than was logical), which makes me think that he's scum defending a lurking buddy, so there's a list of people, including KDowns who fits that bill.

That's a major red flag. He is essentially saying "Nobody here knows him except for me so you guys just have to trust me on this that he's not terrible".
I mean okay if anyone else here wants to speak up and say they've had meaningful interactions with kdowns then by all means do so. Why would I say this if it weren't true.[/quote]

But he was acting scummy. So what we'll do is exclude the fact that he is a scum because it's normal for him to act this way. Come on.

Who's anti btw? Is it rihanna?
Dear lord.

I was saying I didn't think the specific critiques being made were a good reason to suspect him because they were critiques of his personality basically.

I wish I'd just let whoever it was be wrong.

Cephrir, answer me this. Why would you bother defending him when the only pressure on him (if you could call it that) was that people said that he wasn't posting anything worthwihle (Which he wasn't)

Why would I do that if he was my scumbuddy? I was letting whoever it was know that I didn't agree with their line of thought and maybe they should rethink it instead of wasting more time on the same direction. I would say I've learned my lesson, but I'm stupid and will probably do it again in the future
