349. Viktor (Aronis) - Hogwarts

This has been a rather nerve raking experience today. You talk to people, you think you feel good about them, but you're always second guessing. But I'll find out where I stand tomorrow.

I don't think Viktor ever really did figure out where he stood. From his perspective it seems like he's in an okay place and has a few alliances. He's not at the top, but he's surely not on the bottom. You read anyone else's confessional and no one likes Viktor. He's hard to PM. He'll one-line you or not respond at all for a while, might be ignoring you? He seemed to think he was in this great spot where he talked to everyone, but he just didn't talk enough. He did respond to a 2 paragraph PM with K. And he did try to convince the person who was leaving to give him all of their gold. But outside of that, he didn't do anything and didn't have any real idea of what was going on in the Slytherin tribe.

I liked Spencer's character mostly because he won HoH early on, which made it so people actually had to work with this dude that would otherwise be an easy early boot because he stinks at PMs. The mechanics favored people like him and Derrick early on, though whether that's a good thing or not is debatable. At the time I thought it was a good thing, though I'd rather have had a decent endgame and a boring pre-merge rather than the other way around.

I thought Viktor's scheme to steal Lockhart's gold was the most hilarious thing ever during the game. I always wished I had the chance to interact with him!

I think EtU is the only MS game ever that had an exciting pre-merge and a boring post-merge. With even the best games on-site, the pre-merge is usually the weakest part of the game. (I would argue that Eon had an exciting pre-merge with Bellsprout, Chimchar, Shuppet, and Wartortle, and a boring post-merge due to too many idols, but I know I'm in the minority on that.)

Looking at where Aronis is now, it's really fun to look back at his first game as Viktor.

348. The Kid (Nicholas1024) - Names Are Hard (18th Place)

"Yeah, I'm pretty sure Cornelious is as good as dead here. He's been pretty blatantly inactive the last few days, and I don't have the influence or the motivation to make a play to actually save him. Honestly, I think my position might be better without him, because that puts the tribes at 3v3v2, and it means Wayne and I could play the role of swing votes."

Hey man, while we're cutting people who actively hurt the seasons they were in, there's still people left that made little to no impact. The Kid was Gamey McGamebot while he was around, being on good terms with everyone on his original tribe while they voted out inactives zzzzzzzzzzzzzz But then he got swapped and didn't really talk to anyone, the more concerning issue is I think he might have actually been a robot, did someone forget to change his oil? Does he need to be charged? Bro, I need to borrow your dongle to charge my robot Mr. Kid so he doesn't get voted out oh too late

347. Boo (Drench) - Mushroom Kingdom

"Just checking in to say that I'm here."

That's about all Boo managed to do in this game. He made it to the jury and narrowly went home a few rounds later but it doesn't seem like he was really advocating for anything or doing anything other than expecting his secret group to help him. Both his confessional and secret group posts are pretty much limited to discussing safety and/or numbers. But the numbers guy was a number himself, evidently. Perhaps he had some game going on but it certainly does not seem to be written down anywhere. I don't even know why he went home other than it probably wasn't too hard to do.

Kid wasn't even really much of a key figure in the first tribe either... Sure Wayne/Y were probably going to use him but thats about it

346. Houndour (dramonic) - Seafoam Islands

"I'm not playing to be the most threatening player"

(Yes, I know that image is of a Houndoom. He evolved after he got voted off.)

Houndour didn't seem to be particularly interesting. I was in a tribe with him for 3 rounds but apparently I never exchanged a PM with him, which admittedly is probably my fault as much as it is. Pre-swap, he was a member of the never-losing Water Stone tribe, until he got stuck on Silver Wings, a tribe which attended five consecutive TCs. Houndour left on the third one.

There's not much I can say about Houndour other than generic vote-related stuff. I don't think Houndour had any particularly close allies or any defining character moment.

Post-merge Eon could have been super exciting but for most of it, it was just two pretty constant sides with an idol being played every round and preventing actual moves from being made

It wasn't boring for anyone that was involved in it. It actually turned out pretty unpredictable. Maybe it seemed boring because confessionals weren't the best?

345. English Toffee (PrivateI) - Pretty Super Vanilla

"Sorry, fam. Life is busy, life is hard."

It's hard to write paragraphs about characters that weren't really notable. English Toffee had a decent start, making a good alliance with the strongest member of his tribe, Banana. But he was very UTR, probably because life was busy for him at the time. Banana was blindsided in an exciting vote that English Toffee didn't have much to do with, and he was unceremoniously eliminated right after. (Love you Monty, but I'm predicting a Monty streak pretty soon. )

I think Eon was just exciting for the players because they didn't know where idols were, it was just boring to watch

Yeah, from a spectator perspective unpredictable is the last word I would use to describe it. If I made a boot list at the start of merge, I still would have gotten it 90% correct even with the idol plays.

Also watching round after round of idol play and then people still letting the target know they were being voted :/

I still find it kind of weird that I spent an idol, and then right after that I used a link that was posted before I played it to get apparently the exact same idol back. Maybe they were trying to simulate a Legendary Box?
