I've started reading from the very beginning again and I'm on p47 and I'm none the wiser

I'm mostly a tone reader and everyone's done a pretty good job at looking convincing one way or another and I just wanna townread everyone. Let's just agree everyone's town and call it game

If mhsmith/Pie in the very off-chance both flip town, I will heavily consider leaving dance because it would feel like inspector was trying to sway me that way instead of Parama in the PT.

However, individually, inspector still feels genuine and town-thinking things through, and Dunn's read on him right now feels awful (which feels like he's playing both cards btw, like he's just pushing my lynch and whenever convenient calls me or inspector scum, that's actually the thing that's most worrying me in his push - not the fact that he's pushing me, I'm liking that because I don't think scum would be stupid enough to push me now after Parama failure instead of later, but just the fact that his push feels ~so~ off-handed).

do not do this. if our pair is town, then your pair is town/town and it is Jester and Dunn. don't pay too much attention to how bad scout's read on us was, it isn't malicious - Dunn's read on you two is, on the other hand, malicious.

I get the feeling if your pair is town/town then I'm gonna get paranoia inspector was using AtE to try to win me over in the PT, like subtly pushing mhsmith while also masking the push by largely trying to make it more jokingly. Also I really don't want to be the one who ends up throwing the game because I paired with scum that would honestly make me the saddest.

if this happens, I 100% promise I won't hold it against you at all.

just think normally and think: who *actually* looks more town, scout or Jester? if my pair is town and Dunn is scum, then which pair has he been clearly trying to avoid lynching, not just this game day but pretty much the entire game, and which pair has he seen getting town read and went far out of his way to attempt to line up to lynch after Parama, which isn't something he'd really do unless he was worried it was a town/town pair who'd endgame them? if it ends up being wrong, then oh well. I'd much rather lose to a scout-scum who played pretty well than a Jester-scum who lurkfucked the entire game and derped out a victory right at the end without doing anything, and you, me, and Kagami all agreed on it, so it's not like it's anywhere near the same scenario as what I did in the last dance game.

FWIW, where I keep going back to on scout is (from one of the guys I quote in my newbie game IC post)

If a scum does try some fake scumhunting it will lack righteousness. It will smell feeble. You will struggle to see how or why this vapour is vote-worthy relative to alternative issues present in the thread.

Knowing this some scum players might try and fake passion for their vote to disguise the deficit in intellectual integrity underpinning it. Then you are looking for a disproportionate level of zeal and/or confidence

. A scum in this mode is not necessarily harder to spot, but can be harder to lynch since they can impress weaker-minded townies. They can shamelessly segue from one terrible vote underpinned by garbage to another and not miss a beat. Scum also tend to gravitate to this mode the closer they are to the win.

I just feel like he's choosing to be intellectually lazy in his engagement, and I increasingly suspect it's a cover, not a true townie tunnel.

OTOH Jester continues to pretty much openly do jack shit, and I'd absolutely agree with pie about how annoying it would be to lose to someone who essentially put zero effort into fake scum-hunting but somehow won anyway.

So basically this is a fancy prodge to say I still suspect scout and want to see SOME kind of substance from Jester in the near future.

Do you think it's fake? Reaction testing? Genuine frustration? If you want to tone/emotion read people, that seems like a plausible place to start rather than just saying "that's bad".
