One of MoS's clue mafia's had a lot of SKs. Plus if you want ot go back a lot, StrykkerVerde (sp?) had an SK mafia. Hmmm, it's an interesting (and possibly balancing) influence on typical SK-only game designs. That is what I was trying to do is find a balance so it's not easy killing for the SK's and not too difficult either. I was thinking 3 SK's, 1 sheriff, 1 doctor, 3 rival characters, 4 townies. No role reveal either then town would win no matter what.Mr. Flay wrote:

Would there be any interest for aMagic: The Gathering upick? You choose your card and you would get a unique ability based on the card. Players would have a certain number of votes required to lynch them based on their card's defence, a number of votes their vote counts for based on attack, and an ability reflected by any of their card's abilities. People could also choose an instant, sorcery, enchantment, etc. and would have their voting/votes needed to lynch be low but their ability be high.

what is a game played within a dream of a dream like?

The flavor would be creative and intense, and not at all appropriate for those under the age of 18 (21 in some Southern states).

I have an idea for a game but I'm not sure if it's been done before or not.
Basicly, whenever somebody dies (whether it be by lynch, night kill or any other form of death) their role is not revealed. This would put a unique spin on the game because if you lynched somebody you would have no idea if they were mafia or not until the game had ended.
Being relatively new to mafia, I have no idea of how many townies/mafia you would need to make it balanced, but I thought I would suggest it anyway.- Yaw

From some experience (No Exit), playershatethis. Not revealing a role (doc, cop, etc.) works well in some games where resurrection abilities exist. Not revealing alignment (town vs. scum) tends not to make for a good gaming experience. Most players feel they need the instant feedback of knowing the dead's alignment in order to be able to play at a good level.Success breeds suspicion- Mr. Flay

Having some sort of mechanism where theymightbe able to learn the deceased's role/alignment (Psychic, Autopsy Doctor, Forensic Cop, etc) helps alleviate this somewhat, but yeah, otherwise I agree with Yaw. Most players dislike this, though you could certainly announce it up front and only get players who were okay with it.
It probably shifts the balance toward the scum in most cases...Retired as of October 2014.- TrustGossip

Once Nightmare mini is done, I plan to run a game with 3 goons and 9 townies. The twist is that each townie has an ability that activates if they are lynched (but not night killed). These abilities may drastically alter how the game is played. Examples of such abilities are:
These are roles that were rejected for being too powerful, but you get the idea.xxx, you are the Townie of Reward
If you are lynched then your ability will activate, and for the rest of the game everybody gets two votes.
xxx, you are the Townie of Attention
If you are lynched then your ability will activate, and for the next day everybody who was on your lynch loses their vote.
xxx, you are the Townie of Luck
If you are lynched then your ability will activate, and the next two night phases will be skipped.
The town will find themselves in situations where they do not want to lynch a player because he has an ability that will hurt the town. They will also find themselves persuaded to lynch players who have roles that would benefit the town. The scum, having no abilities themselves, would need to feign an ability that seems plausible. Also, they must choose who they want to kill carefully. For example, if the above roles were actually in the game, they would want to nightkill the Townie of Luck so his ability does not activate, but might would want to lynch the Townie of Reward and abuse the doublevote ability.
I plan on calling it "Persuasion and Punishment Mafia".
