Game Rules:
- If you are being a dick, you run the risk of force-replacement or modkill. You may or may not be warned.Rule 0: Don't be a dick.
General:
- Please adhere to the site rules.
- Do not discuss this game of mafia outside of this thread unless your role PM allows you to do so.
- Day phases will last 2 weeks maximum.
- Night Phases will last 48 hours maximum.
- During night phase, no talking may be done in the thread.
- Do not quote PM's from the mod at all (real or fabricated). Paraphrasing is acceptable.
- If you have any questions about your role, or the game, feel free to PM the mod.
- "Bah" posts are not allowed.
- If you break any of these rules, you will probably be modkilled.
Voting/Player Actions:
- All votes must be in bold format:vote: Nexusfor example. You may also use Vote tags.
- Try to unvote before voting. Unvotes must also be in bold.
- Any and all votes will be counted, if you wish to waste a day phase voting for someone not in the game, that's fine by me.
- You may vote No Lynch.
- Voting tricks are not acceptable. If you misspell someone's name intentionally, but I get the gist of it, the vote will count.
- A lynch will occur once a majority decision is reached. If no majority is reached by deadline, then no lynch shall occur.
- Following a lynch, it is twilight. You may continue to post until I lock the thread and declare it night.
- If you have a Night Action, you may submit it from Night 1 and each subsequent Night. No other time.
- Mafia have day talk and they are able to perform any factional kill alongside their other actions, if necessary.
Activity:
- You are expected to post at least once every 48 hours. If you haven't posted for 48 hours, I shall prod you. If you do not respond to the prod within 48 hours (either in thread if it's Day, or via PM during the Night) then I will replace you.
- Similarly, if you require more than three prods, I will force-replace you.
Mechanics:
-Blueis my colour. Please don't use it.
- Confirm by how your Role PM tells you to once you are ready to play. Once there are 7 confirms, the game begins.
- Do not edit your posts.
- No impossible/hard to read text, or cryptography.
- The Mod may make mistakes - please point out any mistakes gently. Mistakes will be corrected where possible, but sometimes mistakes are made that cannot be reversed. These will stand as final to be commiserated over after the game.
- If you need to get the mod's attention, either PM me, or bold the text you wish to draw to my attention.
- I reserve the right to alter/remove/add any rules as I see fit. You will, of course, be notified if that happens, however.Trans rights are human rights.- Nexus

We have got 8 confirmations so the game will begin now. If Uberpro98 has not confirmed within 48 hours ((expired on 2017-08-10 15:00:00)), he will be replaced. Due to the fact we don't have full confirmations, the Mafia QuickTopic will remain open until 48 hours after we get a full complement of players.
With 9 alive it takes 5 to lynch. You have got two weeks to make this decision - the deadline is at 3pm BST on Tuesday 22nd August 2017 ((expired on 2017-08-22 15:00:00)). If you have any questions, please PM me or ask in thread by saying @mod.Trans rights are human rights.- JaeReed

Hi. I've seen it done in the other games I've had a look at and my understanding is that it's just to get the discussion/scumhunting moving. The more people talk the better it is for town usually so people vote to get lurkers to start posting. In post 10, daRealDodo wrote:Howdy, new guy here, good luck and have fun. (ponders a bit why people are casting their votes early on)
It also gives us some information to start working on as we can read into who people vote for and their reaction to being voted for. If you want you can give it a shot and just vote for someone at random and see how they respond.- SIV36

Welcome to all.
I am your IC (inexperience challenged) player this game. Fancy term for saying I have been playing for a while and know the site. If you ever have any questions regarding things such as the terms I am using, rules, mechanics or anything like that, please let me know and I will get you an answer. I am a player in the game too, but I will not lie about those type of things regardless of my alignment.
As has been discussed, the game is in the RVS (random vote stage) part, where we have nothing to go on. It tends to end when someone does something that doesn't make sense, so a non-random vote is cast. I tend to be very adverse to this part of the game, as its just random, and I like the logic parts a whole lot more.
I do work at an office, so I will not post until usually around 6 or 7 at nights PST. If there is ever an emergency I might be able to get something in on my phone, but I prefer not to post like that.
@Clock - What type of information are you looking for? You note that this stage is based on reactions, so what is a reaction that would make you cast a serious vote? With me now five other people have posted.
@SIV - What are your thoughts on the brief exchange between clock and DRD?- clockworkgirl

I'm not totally sure really. This is literally my first time ever with this game so I'm sort of playing things by ear.In post 13, LlamaFluff wrote: @Clock - What type of information are you looking for? From my perspective as town at the start of the game any one of you has a 25% chance of being scum so I'm looking for anything to adjust that probability. Its early days yet and I've not really seen anything that's changed my mind one way or the other. If I had to pick someone for a serious vote I'd say Bhoysterous just because they've confirmed but haven't posted yet and that's the easiest way to deny town information. But, it's only a been a day so they're probably just busy and we should obviously not be seriously trying to lynch anyone yet.
As for saying exactly what reaction I'm looking for, that sort of gives the game away as I'd be telling scum what they need to fake to convince me.

You say you haven't seen anything that would change your mind yet you cast a serious vote on Bhoysterous. Care to explain? In post 14, clockworkgirl wrote:

Not a serious vote, just some light encouragement to post. You can tell because I explicitly said we shouldn't try to lynch anyone yet.In post 15, Tuberkulos wrote:

Even random voting gives us some information or at least the possibility of information. Lurking gives us the minimum possible information so Bhoysterous is automatically the most suspicious to me even if Jaereed is in virtually the same position. Again though, we really don't have anything to go off at this point.- Tuberkulos

You mean this exchange? In post 13, LlamaFluff wrote: @SIV - What are your thoughts on the brief exchange between clock and DRD?
I think daRealDodo is genuinely just curious why people are randomly voting (maybe he hasn't played mafia like that), and clockworkgirl thought that she could explain it concisely in such a way that daRealDodo would completely understand. In post 11, clockworkgirl wrote:

To me, this particular interaction does not lend any hints to their alignment.- SIV36

Even though this is my fourth game, I still feel really new.
I got a tip from a mafia member in another game, and that person said that the mafia can be very stressed/uncomfortable during RVS, and the transition out of it. Considering that, I just want to point out that Tuberkulos seems the most unnatural with his posts, and is sorely sticking out to me at the moment.- In4Fun

How would you help roll the discussions forward? Any particular opinion about the first 36 hours? In post 13, LlamaFluff wrote:As has been discussed, the game is in the RVS (random vote stage) part, where we have nothing to go on. To anyone who has MafiaScum experience - how would you compare this start to other starts? It feels slow but maybe it's always the case in a Newbie game during RVS.
UNVOTE: SIV36
I don't want to put Bhoysterous to L-2 just yet but I wouldn't mind if he posted here. Same for Uberpro98 but I feel he'll get replaced.- LlamaFluff

I would disagree with that statement, I think its more of a personality tell than anything else. Certain players regardless of alignment are more twitchy in early stages. Same "uncomfortableness" tends to apply to power roles as well. I think things like hypocrisy, excessively reaching logic, or things to that extent are the best things to start with. If you do think Tube is scum, why not vote him though? In post 22, SIV36 wrote:Even though this is my fourth game, I still feel really new.

1) This is a little slow. At the same time though, games tend to be heavily dependent on what type of players are around. If you have an older group who have jobs, game goes slow. If you have a lot of people in college or younger, games can go painfully fast.
2) There probably is not a big threat of putting someone at L-2 this early if you believe they are scum. What we don't want is someone to be put at L-1 early, as someone can accidently hammer and that's not something that we really want to occur.
