You have to have met certain requirements of time on-site and certain types of games moderated in order to moderate more complex games.

You have to have met certain requirements of time on-site and certain types of games moderated in order to moderate more complex games.
It's not that difficult, just a little time-consuming.
It's listed under general:
All modding experience requirements can be satisfied on mafiascum.net. Offsite modding experience will be taken on a case-by-case basis subject to approval by mith, with a preference for sites that play in a similar way/timescale as MafiaScum. If approved, a body of offsite modding experience will be substituted for _one_ game's experience on MafiaScum, and must have taken place prior to your join date on MafiaScum.
You need to play one game on mafiascum and have been around mafiascum for three months before signing up to mod any game, regardless of prior experience.
Until they have successfully modded two completed games, moderators may run only one game at a time. Afterward, they may run two concurrently. Mods who desire to run three or more games simultaneously must apply to mith (see "Special Games" below).
As modding Newbie games is considered a public service, Newbie games are completely outside the system, both for the limit on games you can mod at a time and satisfying "experience" requirements.- DrumBeats

I wouldn't hold your breath though. I never got a reaction when I tried to get my off-site experience to count. It may be easier to just get your experience here.In post 4558, DrumBeats wrote:

So I had a terrible idea that probably isn't allowed
shitpost mafia
where shitposting is actually helpful to the game
if all your posts are...
25% shitpost
You get a 1-shot:
Rolecop/Watcher/Bulletproof
Godfather (inno result)/Ninja
50% shitpost
You get a 1-shot:
Vigilante/Doctor/Cop
Roleblocker/Strongman
However, for balance, at 75% or above...
-You will be forced to have either...

That could easily be gamebreaking though. Everybody shitposts 3/5 posts for 60% to make sure they get the 50% upgrade and protects the person below them. Mafia can only kill the people below themselves, which would out them."Welcome to Whose Line is it Anyway folks where the reasoning's made up and the reads don't matter."- Gamma Emerald

This doesn't break the game though? itll basically just makes the game nightless and mountainous if everything goes according to planIn post 4569, DrumBeats wrote:That could easily be gamebreaking though. And assuming doctors only block one shot, scum could secretly take vig instead of doctor and target the same person with two kills and it'll basically work out to be the same as a normal game- Varsoon

I'm considering building a setup based on the videogame, Pyre.
In Pyre, all of the characters are criminals and exiles that are cast down into a literal other world and must compete in a series of trials to earn liberation to return back home.
The majority of these exiles end up supporting the cause of revolution back in their own world. As the player character, your decisions on who to liberate end up shaping the outcome of that revolution.
I think that flavoring the lynch mechanic as a 'Liberation' mechanic would reflect this theme pretty well, but in order for that to work right, it'd have to be set up such that when all the scum are lynched/liberated, town loses.
Is this something that could work, mechanically?
Have there been other setups built around AVOIDING lynching the informed minority/scum?
Also, would people be interested in a game with Pyre's flavor?
Fantastic game, btw. Really nails its branching storytelling by focusing on characters and their interactions rather than a branching plot.

I've been toying with a setup with this take on the voting mechanic, and in my opinion it could work -- but I'm still a pseudo-newbie so take that opinion with a grain of salt. The idea in my prototype setup is that half of the players have to be "elected" by majority vote, so the goal for scum is essentially to appear more town than the average player. I'd go into it more but I don't think the system I have in mind would fit the theme you're looking to incorporate. If you decide to run with your idea and build a setup around it I'd be interested to see how it plays or possibly play in it myself. In post 4573, Varsoon wrote: Have there been other setups built around AVOIDING lynching the informed minority/scum?
As for whether any setup with this approach to voting has been run previously, I have a ten-year gap in my knowledge of the site so I couldn't say. But I'd be surprised if one hasn't been run. Flipping the lynch mechanic on its head feels like something likely to come up in the sense of considering ways to make tweaks to the fundamental rules of the game that have a major impact on how it plays.Avatar courtesy of Chickadee! | GTKAL - GreenLiquid
