Nope. I'm a lurky-type of player who doesn't really meet anyone else's expectations.

Will re-read later today and place a vote.

CES why Nacho over Josh, since you think they are both scum?

by Nachomamma8
No. Feel underneath my rough exterior and you can feel the real me.
↑ RachMarie wrote:Nacho I know you are a good enough player not to jump on someone just cause they are suspecting you of being scum, so what gives with the CES vote? Please share with us.
Feeling.
↑ Dazed and Confused wrote:you think I'm the readable one because...um...Empire writes too many walls for you to bother reading him? There's an obvious problem with that logic. (Hint: alternate possibilities for the name of this hydra were "The Wall" and "Ramble On".) What's weirder is that first you say you don't trust Empire because "he hides behind hydras" (huh?) but then use t? Can I have a serious, non-coy answer to where your meta stance came from? Also, although I don't fault the idea of "I'll vote this person I believe is easy to read until he/she is obvtown" in RVS, the post I made that changed your mind was literally, "Empire is obvtown, so I don't have to do anything."
The obvious problem with that logic was the joke of the vote, and not trusting Empire because he hides behind hydras was *mostly* a joke. Your response ended up as pretty town anyways: not because of substance, but because of tone.
↑ Dazed and Confused wrote:Lastly, would you have played this game any differently if you were the opposite alignment to what you are now?
Probably. Can't tell you how, but I seriously doubt I would approach it the same way.

We believe we're obligated to say that if you have time to feel Nacho up, you should be petting the puppy. Our fur is silky-soft under your hands.

You can get a puppy anywhere. It's a very rare occasion that allows you to feel up a religious conservative without consequence.

Normally petting puppies comes with a much smaller chance of lifelong emotional trauma or screen time on CNN.

Someone turn on the AC, with all the petting and feeling up going on around here it is getting rather warm....

Sorry, but I've been burned by too many of your type
I guess lurking is the wrong word to use here. (Maybe active lurking?) My main issue is that you seem distant/disengaged, you ask some questions but you don't appear like you care about the answers. For example, you seemed interested in the whole FT/Rach argument when you asked FT something in
#47 but there's no sign that you've considered his response. Basically, the impression I'm getting is that you're trying to seem busy and contributory but you're not genuinely/actively scumhunting.

Heads up, I just realized I'm way too busy on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesday to play mafia so in general I'll be V/LA on those days.
Dazed and Confused, to answer your questions, I called Rach scum because she was making claims about my play that are not true and can be used to call my credibility into question. I actually saw another player do the same thing in a game I just played and, big surprise, he was scum. I didn't mention her "opportunistic" vote on Jason at first because I didn't read it as something scummy at first, looking at things in retrospect often helps solidify my reads. What do you think of Rach? Also, I don't understand some of your questions, like what are you trying to achieve by asking me for thoughts about "other" players? I mean maybe I have something to say maybe I don't, either way I don't see how the answer to that question tells you anything about my alignment. Is there any reason you asked me in specific?
I really hope CES is town, from what I remember of him his reads were dead on. I have no clue what he's thinking though, it basically just looks like he's going after lurkers. What's the thought process behind Josh/Nacho as scum? I can see Josh's vote on Jason as scummy but other than that he's just inactive. His self description as a lurker is definitely weird though and utterly anti-town. I'll have to look at some of his other games to see if he always does that. As for Nacho, he's mostly been laying low too, his vote on CES doesn't seem to have much thought behind it but then again I don't really see the scum motivation there. Are people voting for them basically just because CES is saying they are scum? How does that work?
@Everyone following CES's lead, What is the reasoning behind that? It it because you legitimately agree with him? Or do you guys just think he's town so good idea to sheep him?
I'm not sure what to say about CES myself, he's not giving me any sort of indication either way. I just really hope he's town, basically null for now. Actually this kind of sucks, too many null reads so far. I could see either of CES/Josh/Nacho being scum or town at this point.
Sotty, why do you think I'm town? I'd like to see more of your analysis. Also, can you explain why Jason is town?
I like Sixty's posts so far, I'd put them down as town. I still don't like Rach to be honest. If I had to pick out a scum-team, from everything I've seen, it would be Rach/Nacho, just based on Rach's indirect defense of Nacho with her vote on Josh. Is there any reason no one else thinks Rach is scum?

Oh and Nacho, justifying the CES vote as a "feeling" ain't gonna fly, not when the vote came at a really suspicious time (e.g., when the pressure started to mount against you).

I asked you for your opinions on other players because, though I'm leaning towards you being town, you seemed to have a really narrow focus (e.g., focusing on one player, Rach, when there was a lot more going on in the thread) and that was something bugging both me and my other head. I've seen you play as town in other games and I know you're capable of ~opinions~ on more than just one person so I wanted you to get a bit more involved in the game here.
As for Rach, I'm leaning towards her being town as well but I've been meaning to look into some of her meta before I go and solidify that read. I have class all day tomorrow so expect a more comprehensive post late tomorrow or early Friday after I talk some things through with the other head.
See the post above you for why I'm voting Nacho...though it sometimes is damn sexy to vote alongside CES.

FT I am not defending Nacho, I do not give him a free pass here. However given more time I can peg Nacho's alignment better. While Josh definitely seems scummy. CES is a very good player look at this game
http://forum.mafiascum.net/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=21878 Bonus you get to see me playing as Town and Tiece as Town as well.

Suspicion on Nacho came first and going after Josh doesn't sound particularly appealing.

Her reasons w.r.t. her choice of Josh over Nacho feel very genuine.

On the other paw, maybe we're barking up the wrong tree. The person who made post 111 looks like a giant hambone. uo.ou

Sixty, are we reading the same 111? That post pretty much nullified my entire scumread (disclaimer: this was solely a Mina scumread) on FourTrouble.
This may be premature, but right now, I think both scum lie among {Nacho, Josh, Sotty, jason} and we're on the verge of an easy win.
(...and...now that I just posted that, I've jinxed it, and it'll turn out that the Mafia are CES and Sixty.)

The other puppyhalf is off for the evening and I'm about to go to sleep, but
my
main point is that 111 boils to a whole lot of nothing. Especially the part in which he asks you two why you are asking him for reads and how that would let you learn more about his alignment. I... what? Isn't that kind of an essential part of Mafia? Whether your reasoning makes sense from a Town perspective or not? So why does he say that he doesn't understand how giving reads will help you figure him out? It's defensiveness and stalling at a point in which Town would either go "nah, I don't feel like explaining my reads"
or
give them outright.
It's a lot of not being sure, of feeling the waters as to how others think the lynch might go. Not enough taking a stance, and for a person who went all RIGHTEOUS RAGE against RachMarie's initial statement, it's contrasting sharply with the apparent lack of interest in figuring the game out.
However, 111 has the nice touch of, if one of CES/FourTrouble is scum, the other is Town--look at that third paragraph, FourTrouble is bringing "CES is going on a lurkerhunt" to light, and he would never make such a claim in that format against a buddy.
