It's a very town motivated question. What do you have to hide?

It's town motivated to ask what kind of puppy everyone is? Wow

It's very suspicious that instead of giving a simple answer to what you view as a silly question, you choose to make content less posts dodging it instead.

Besides, the sooner you and 6 others answer, the sooner it'll get back to the game you're used to.

It's ok VL. He's successfully bogged this game down and spread the fear to answer, so half of my play isn't going to work anyhow.

http://wiki.mafiascum.net/index.php?tit ... en_Defense

The whole puppy thing is a play I am trying out as an alternative to RVS. Random voting is so overplayed that it's really become a bit of a joke in my opinion. The object here is to illicit the Cute Fuzzy Kitten Defense from a player while they aren't under duress.

By asking what kind of puppy you envisioned your character as, the town player can come out with whatever their knee-jerk reaction is without fear. The scum player has to think carefully before answering because picking the wrong kind of dog, or characteristics thereof, could royally fuck 'em. I was looking for someone to paint themselves as utterly harmless. Not going to happen now thanks to Pope's play.

However, there was still cognitive dissonance even without answering. Someone who is town aligned would just be like, "Oh hey this is an interesting thing, what the heck, i'll try it" while scum would be more like, "How is this gonna hang us? Do we need to be hostile towards it? Do we play along?".

Since the first part failed to go off, and since people are perceiving me to be too close to the situation to take an objective view of the situation, can we talk about this?

Saw this explanation coming from a mile away. Why else would you badger him about his favorite sort of puppy? And I will agree that objecting so heavily to such a dumb (if not adorable) question is sort of shifty.

The non-objectivity of your viewpoint is why I asked him to answer it in the first place; pressure from players who weren't you might change his response.

Would appreciate an explanation of that thing I quoted. You're probably typing it up right now, if I know you, so keep doing that.

Actually missed that. Meh. Sitting on the couch chilling with the wife so I skimmed to the big bold stuff.

Anyhow, if you town so hard that you are conf town then you set yourself up as scum kill for the night. That's the basic leave no confirmed town alive principle to Mafia. If you are VT, that's a great thing to do because you're just a pawn. Mafia wasting a NK on a pawn instead of a town PR is a battle won for town.

The only reason I pointed that fact out was so that new players would at least know the consequences of their day play as it translates to what happens in the night phase. The first game I payed in, I gowned hard. I died my first night (replaced in), and cost the town a PR.

That said, you shouldn't not contribute. Contributing is a very good thing. Playing as an open book makes for your quick demise.

Playing to be read null (enough scum to have town doubt you, enough town to keep you from being lynched) is a great place to be. You won't be lynched by day and in most cases scum will have a better target by night.

Not the deflection I'm talking about. I'm talking about deflecting your vote to the nearest wagon instead of explaining how you're not scum. Which of course you can't. Any more than you could answer the puppy question now. Because its too late. You're caught.

So, are you bussing MP5 or is someone else your scum partner? I'm thinking someone else, but I would like to hear it from you.

I'll have to just simply agree with wayne on this one. Something is very suspicious about deflecting to the wagon and then trying to call for someone to bring it to L-1. Why are you so eager to get someone so close to a lynch TIP? We have 11 days to come to a decision.

In addition I find it really really suspicious that TIP would dodge the question as though he still thinks that wayne is scum, even though he had unvoted him, indicating that he may now think otherwise.

VOTE: TIP

On the topic of the silly question, I have to say I am not really a dog person (Not really an any kind of pet person either) and couldn't name a breed for the life of me.

SuperMafiaMan, that's how you advance. You get someone to L-1, have them claim, then maybe a counter-claim, and we got one scum out of two
L-1 =/= Lynch, got it?

VL, well, yeah, I want him to post more and not lurk this thread

Getting MP5 to L-1 to force an RoleClaim is not going to necessarily turn up good for us. We have 4 possible scenarios I see happening if we force a RoleClaim in this fashion (Assuming that the townies don't lie and mafia play to win)
1. MP5 is a town PR and Claims this PR and we let him live. There is only a 33% chance of there being a doctor, and a 50% chance that if there is a doctor, there is a potential for a RoleBlocker to just block the doctor (Has to be a lucky shot with the roleblock, but still possible). Chances are town will lose a PR on night 1.
2. MP5 is a vanilla townie and claims vanilla townie. We either hammer or let him go. (The potential for Scenario 4 means we are likely to hammer in this case, leading to a mislynch.)
3. MP5 is mafia and claims a PR. The result of this can only be a counter claim from the person that actually has the role or the claimed role does not actually exist in this game (According to the fact we have 6 possible setups) resulting in someone with a PR showing up that disproves the existence of MP5's PR. We confirm a scum but lost a PR (Semigood as we eliminate a scum, but we lose a PR in the process)
4. MP5 is mafia and claims townie. We must choose to hammer or allow him to live. (Best case is this if we manage to hammer. But chances are mafia won't risk it and go for a PR claim instead, meaning that this scenario is least likely under my assumptions.)

What I'm saying is quite simple. We are highly likely to just lose a PR or mislynch if we try to pull out a RoleClaim. If you just analyze the situation it makes the fact that you are so eager to pull out a L-1 look pretty scummy.
