Yes. If you have not yet fired a nuke that day, you can nuke anyone you want during that 48 hours. Anyone else can either. However, if you have already fired a nuke that day, you can only retaliate against the person who nuked you.

Moderator, does the abbreviation count for the purposes of nuclear weapons in terms of the mechanics of this game?

Has Now A Ranger fired a nuke at me?

everyone else

vote me so we can lynch me before NAR's nuke lands, we're better off further from nuclear winter than closer to it.

ICBM LAUNCH!!!

Image

Armageddon times:

Early warning systems have detected a possible launch by Now A Ranger directed towards Pooky!

There is no way to confirm if the ICBM's have actual nuclear warheads until they strike, but that dosn't change the difficulty of the decision Pooky must make.

THE ICBM'S WILL STRIKE POOKY THE MAGIC BEAR IN APPROX. 48 HOURS, AT 11:00 PM, EST, SATURDAY MAY 6TH. POOKY HAS UNTIL THEN TO DECIDE WHAT KIND OF RESPONSE, IF ANY, HE WISHES TO TAKE.

Pooky: Note the rules. No one can be lynched during this 48 hour period. A vote count will be kept, but any lynches will only happen after all the dust settles.

actually I just realized something about my role
unvote

My role is America.

I have 8 nuclear weapons.

Right now I'm very pissed off at this game in general, so much so that I am perfectly fine with blowing up the world.

How would I do this? Read Yosa's rule on nuclear limitations, tho we are limited to one nuke per day, that limit does not apply to retaliatory actions.

As far as I can see, this town has pretty much no shot at winning.

So let's even the field a little. Have 1 scum admit to being scum and we can play the rest of this game out as a smaller group of scum versus a smaller group of town.

If I do not see a confession within the next 24 hours. I will launch all eight nuclear warheads at my disposal at NAR. The nine nukes will almost surely cause nuclear winter which means you will lose.

I'd say that your chances of winning after outting one of your members is better than your chances of winning after I launch eight nuclear weapons.

The Ball is in your court.

If I don't see a confession by 5 PM EST Friday. I will take us all down.(honestly, I don't think the town has any shot of winning with the play I've seen out of them so far, so I'm NOT losing anything by firing those eight nuclear weapons) You have my strictest promise that I will fully retaliate not just on him, but on everyone here by activating nuclear winter.

Unless you think the hidden number happens to be 10, with 12 people in the game, I don't think that's very likely.

Hmm, I have more time than I thought I did according to Yosa.
I'll extend the deadline for armageddon to Friday 7 PM EST.

At that point I will launch the first retaliatory strike at NAR.

Every hour afterwards I will launch one more nuclear missile at NAR until I am out of nuclear missiles or someone has confessed to being scum.

I'm sorry if the rules were not entirely clear; you can retaliate against someone even if you have already launced a nuke that day, but you can't retaliate against the same person more then once. However many nukes you have at your desposal, that are how many people you can nuke over the course of the game.

Ok, NAR

You have 48 hours to convince me you are town.

If you fail to do so, I will nuke you.

8nukes??? Holy shit... safe to say you would've never run out of nukes this game. Also, I'm starting to question this game's balance. Clearly it's made not to be able to out-guess mod. So we can't consider balance when we are looking into if a theory on game setting is credible.

Hang on Yos's post said there's no way to confirm if ICBM has nuke warhead until detonation. What happens if it didn't have a warhead?

We can always lynch NaR. I think it's better to see the outcome of the detonation before we kill him. I'd hate to lose a townie due to retaliation when he actually didn't nuke.

Something I can think about is scum trying to check how we handle a nuke fired. At the cost of one player (Or maybe not even that), they can understand the way we react and can use this knowledge through the game. It doesn't seem too probable, but it's an option.

But if we lynch NAR rather than have Pooky counternuke him, that ends the day, and with almost nothing gleaned. I seriously doubt the Nuclear Winter number is two. Whereas with a counternuke, we get NAR dead
and
a lynch.

Which is why we should just have had an immediate retaliation policy...

Two nukes is closer to nuclear winter than one. You don't know the number and you should stay as low as possible.

Lets say that NaR has no nukes. NaR shoots Pooky, and he retaliates. NaR's missile explodes and does nothing, Pooky's nuke kills NaR (Not definitely scum). We can actually get the lower hand in such a case.

hmm im pretty wary of both of you. Im not sure why everyone gets the impression that NAR has no nukes. Im sure i read somewhere that the ICBM is the British Nuclear Organisation, thus NAR would be Britain. Assuming this game is somewhat close to real life, and based on Pookys claim, we can assume that NAR may have upto 5 nukes. To this end, i think his attack could be legitimate.
Either that, or ICBM, refers to Yos's ability to see me ;)
I dont see why NAR would nuke Pooky at this point-as town or scum. Maybe he is just bored with the game, which would indicate that he could be scum. Pooky on the other hand, had a bad reaction to the nuke.
I think he is more likely scum of the 2 at this point.
