If you are town, why is this bad? Or more why is it a reason to unvote?

Hypo wrote: I don't think it should have been made

Why not?

1. Because he set up some doc for writing notes about the game and we haven't fully gone over how we're going to play this.
2. It's a reason to unvote because outside of RVS, I'd prefer not to have an RVS vote. That's all there is.
3. Because it wasn't RVS and there was enough information available to make a vote on someone based on reads.
For me, my vote is either explicitly for pressure or on the person I find scummiest. I unvoted because the vote didn't accurately display my thoughts on the game.

Call it what you like, it's still defensive & scummy play.

AP might agree to do that. I won't. If the post is a significant stance and it's not obvious from context who made it, I'll find a way to affix something resembling an imprimatur.

Fair enough.

And sure, I'll see if he wants to sign with 'MD' and 'GD'. Of course, by then I'd have half a mind to get players with names of 'SE' and '62' to join the hydra.

Wow, I come back after about an hour and there's more than 30 posts!
Riddleton wrote:
I prefer to wait until people make more substantial posts before I do reads. Most people have posted less than five times, and for instance, all of AHs posts are one liners. It's extremely hard to get a read out of that, at least it is for me.

Do you think posting one liners is bad?

Definitely not! On the contrary! They're good for starting the conversation. I have plenty of witty one-liners in my disposal for this
game XD.
But I find that longer posts allow me to more easily read people.

Also, with the hydras, do we refer to you as males, females, or unisex?
Just to be polite XD

Hydrae are usually referred to as 'They'. Check the pronoun sectiion under a user's post.

I'll sign my posts when I think its necessary and I remember. I don't expect that will be most of the time.

I actually kind of find to be rather relatable. (Huh apparently the site spell checker doesn't recognize that as a word.)

There is at least one thing there I would expect scum to phrase differently just to preemptively (and possibly subconsciously) defend against random accusations that could be made from that post. Specifically the strategy bit I think is something scum might reword.

I'm in super-abstract mode right now, so if this post doesn't make sense I can try and explain better :P. I'm not 100% sober.

Speaking of strategy, that is something I haven't yet talked about for this hydra, but I am hoping to be a little more backseat and analytical this game and try talking out observations with ffery. I'm generally an internal-thinker, so it'll be good practice for me.

Speaking of try-harding, look at me go!

Gut scumread on istott after latest posts. UNVOTE:

Hypo,
1. Is not sharing reads in thread really an option the two of you are considering? I asked the original question because having to consult before sharing reads shows scum thinking. It's more "Is this going to look bad?" than "Is this good for town".
2. But that's not what you said. You seemed upset that he made the vote. Again, it looks like you were worried he was making you look bad.

Is wrote:Wow, I come back after about an hour and there's more than 30 posts!

Yeah, this is gonna suck when I come back at some point. I don't have internet access at home as of right now and I'm working a ton in the next two weeks.

1. I don't know. But I do know that disparity between reads is often something that hydrae have issues with, so I want to be in sync. I, for one, usually share reads in thread, but I also don't want to confuse people.
2. Tbh, that was part of it, yeah. I tend to get out of RVS early as any alignment.

In all seriousness, im not sure why people would get scum vibes from my latest posts.
I don't think it was the question about hydras.
Was it the comment about short posts being fine? Or was it the comment about long posts being fine?
Perhaps it was when I didnt give reads? I think this might be what you're referring to. I tend not to participate in the RVS regardless of alignment, and that also extends to flimsy reads.
I mean, you have the right to suspect people, but last time I checked, waiting to give reads wasn't scum indicative,

Modded a game of Dethy on playdiplomacy
Am currently playing in Newbie 1549
Am about to mod and play a few games at playdiplomacy
Have modded about 50 IRL games
Have played about the same amount of IRL games
Have played quite a bit of epicmafia
What about you?

Hey, other head here.

With the RVS vote, I'm sorry, I wasn't totally aware of the non-RVS-ness... The two posts before me were gawking over a Dr. Horrible intro (AND I MEAN NO DISRESPECT TO THAT WONDERFUL SHOW), so I wasn't totally sold on the whole seriousness of the game (and therefore the out-of-RVS-ness... I suppose there was some conversation going on earlier in page 2... Whoops. It was an honest mistake, and I didn't think there would be consequences. Oh well. <sarcasm> I'm also personally very against llama abuse, so that might have part of it. </sarcasm>

I guess what Dino said? I personally wouldn't have unvoted, but at the same time I have no real read on Boonskiies yet, so it's not like I'm going to revote him. I should clarify with the document I made. It's 90% organizational stuff, like keeping track of who voted who when -- no real analysis. The remaining 10% is for keeping my own thoughts straight (because I have a tendency to post very stupid things when I don't keep organized), not necessarily so that Dino can see. Regardless of what I talk about with him, if I think I have a valid point, I'm going to post about it.

@Istott, if you want to refer to us separately, we're both "he." Also I'm not totally getting how you're leaning scum. The not being able to get a read off of short posts sounds a tad like a cop-out, but I'm not getting it. (Oh wait you just mentioned that, didn't you?) Murder of Crows (and presumably Riddleton) did say it was a gut scumread, which makes you defending yourself feel little fishy, but at the same time it doesn't seem like you're 100% flailing to save yourself.

-Duck (I am a fan of parentheticals, btw, so if they are used it's probably me.)

I agree with Bassists that Istott's defense is odd given both of our 'lean-scum' reads are mainly gut based at this point in the game. I find it odd.

I asked about the experience because it could perhaps be newbie play. I'm inclined to believe it is, at the moment.
