A fourth figure took a furtive seat in the booth. It was their fixer.

Varsoon's demeanor seemed different today.

The punk-bancho Street Samurai dredged down the cinders of his cigarette and crushed the ashes between his thumb and his index finger. This Kobun-lookin' bastard was known to take even the drek runs despite having some history behind him. Called himself 'Varsoon', although it seems he uses the handle 'Scatman' around the net. He gave Beeboy's story a few moments to process as his e-brain went to work. 4nxi3ty was in the clear here, and what Catdog was doing fit the narrative. Dwlee, however, brought up nothing but question marks and dark corners.

Varsoon stood from his table in the corner with Beeboy. He let a credstick fall to the table. Beeboy thanked the payment--information wasn't always reciprocated in kind around these parts. The Street Samurai shrugged, "Null sweat. I'll follow up on the Beeboy lead." Varsoon paused, glancing over his shoulder. Something beneath his shades glimmered with a dull green light. "If I find out that you're rippin' me off, Beeboy, I'm coming back for that tip, so don't spend it 'till the work is done."

With that, the man made his way to the other side of the bar and hunkered down at a booth with several other runners. Beneath his slick shades, he eyed the likes of Yosarian, Titus, and the others. "Making ends meet. Almost became spare parts last night, but that's what happens when I play pony to get by. Lead's on a booster calling himself Dwlee, likely to be tied up in the puppet-gang that I've been looking into. Pull the right strings and it'll all come down, along with some worthwhile creds. Dilly-dally and the pigs'll eventually lock up the scapegoats and we'll have a hell of a time making any bank then."

Varsoon pauses briefly, as if considering something, then continues, "I've also caught wind of a poison that's been killing runners up North. Corps tried covering it up, but I figure it was a live test. Can't be too safe. I've got a shipment of Bionic Livers; already took the precaution of installing one, myself. If any of you are interested, I'd handle it." Varsoon pauses again, then adds, with a wink, "No such thing as a free lunch, though, you dig?"

But Its exactly like that. and now its useless. how do you know there is a protective role about the effect. this seems fishy . and in other hand it seems your the poisoner and you are trying to see if you can get any clues that there is protective against you out there or not.

Varsoon slid a data chip across the table. By the time it was in the runner's pockets, the man had taken his leave.

Recorded on the chip were the plans for the city, complete with street maps, sewer networks, and floor plans of every building from high-rises to slum shacks. Notes had been made about the growing crime in the region, which, at first glance, seemed to be tied to gangland disputes. To the trained eye, it was clear that the crime-spree was instigated by one of the megacorps. Varsoon's lead indicated that, should the right gang be hit, the paydata would be worth millions in the hands of competitors; if lucky, this could even lead to further runs against whatever megacorp was behind the gangers and emerging combat zones.

@R&L: I don't know that there is a protective role; I'm setup-spec'ing. Regardless, the chances of a poisoner targeting me are very low. The role is better played claimed, as I lower the pool for people to pick for protections and/or kills. Furthermore, if you believe my claim invalidates the usefulness of my role, then you're admitting I am town by right of the claim--it would have no usefulness if anti-town, and, ergo, has no point to be claimed in that case.

If I was the poisoner, I wouldn't claim poison-proof, because then I'd be destroyed by a counter-claim.
I think you're just salty that I'm driving the game away from RVS here.

Dwlee is a problem. It's hard to tell when he's genuinely clueless and when he is scum clueless.

Honestly, I'd prefer him to be vigged at some point, just like all y'all did to me in SaGa.
