This is only my second game if Mafia I've ever played. First on these forums, so until some REAL content presents itself, I don't have much to say. After the day ends I'll be much more active.

Just because I'm curious, what constitutes real content? I'm struggling with it myself but it feels like things might start to heat up soon now that we have even weak reads.

@cankles: I would say that you should be active before the day ends. Content comes from the players, and the more that you invest into the game, the better you'll do and the more you'll learn.

Some potential areas of thought for you:

1) Do you agree or disagree that persephone is doing a lot of work, and that this is relatively likely to be coming from town with genuine curiosity and interest in solving the game?

2) What do you think of the early back and forth between me and ciara? Does it strike you as potentially alignment-indicative from either of us? If so, why?

3) What do you think of RC pushing you for having done nothing? Do you think that's relatively likelier to come from town or scum? If so, why?

4) What do you think of fykus and the discussion about him so far?

1 - I don't have much of a position on this one, i don't think it's too relevant as there's no real way to even have a suspicion if anyone right now.

2 - Again, Day 1 is just trolling and random finger pointing. Grabbing at nothing.

3 - RC on the first day? I won't decline if that's really what you insist on, and I'd believe someone prying me to RC is a scum move. And a dumb scum move.

4 - Everyone is just assuming at the tiniest little movements. I didn't expect that, D1 is almost always a NL (on the forums i play on)

No, I've just been busy IRL since the game started, and without saying anything rule breaking "I'm spread pretty thin" atm. I'm all caught up now so I feel I'll be able to contribute some good content to the game now.

He's scum because he just hopped onto a 3 vote wagon and put me on L-1 for no reason other than "you told me to put my vote somewhere"

I'm all for early day 1 L-1 wagons but someone of your caliber should be able to see what I see in regards to cankles vote on me.

It's obviously bad-looking, the question is whether it's newbie town being clueless/lazy, or whether it's explicitly scum-motivated, and I'm curious if you saw something else in particular about him being the bad-looking vote.

I feel like that's more of a newbie mindset though .. that's how I first felt back when I started mafia

I'd like to see fykus/cankles develop a bit before really getting into the BP stuff, but given that the game has overall been fairly stalled I don't really object if you want to claim bp/non.

I think theres a chance that it could be newb scum motivated. I also expect that whatever develops from this will give us some insight into other potential scum.

Nah I've seen people beginning to argue it's not beneficial. I just want to hear some of the more experienced players' opinions

2) It's really not. It may START as that, but as the day continues, and people start to engage in the thread in earnest, alignment-indicative postings start to happen, and solving for those posts, finding scum, finding town through the day play, that's the core of mafia.

3) Talk a bit about your "RC on the first day" comment? Are you familiar w RC from somewhere? I also asked about your opinion there; you could just as easily say it's town-indicative, so I don't really see the "prying me to RC" bit, and would like some additional explanation there

4) You always lynch on day 1, that's how you get started scumhunting. Day one is HARD for mafia... if you make it hard. If no one does anything, then day one is easy for mafia. But on day 1, there's no sludge to hide behind, no town PRs to automatically townread and narrow down the "people who can be mislynched" list (this is part of why an early BP/no BP claim is IMO antitown), and while odds are good day 1 becomes a mislynch, it's by NO means certain, and the simple action of scumhunting and forcing mafia to mimic that process puts a lot of infomration into thread that will be increasingly helpful as the game continues.

Of course I voted for the biggest wagon. I'm about to get lynched. I'm not sure how that makes me scum? A lynch has to happen in order for us to gain some sort of info. Go ahead and lynch me if you want, but you'll be losing a townie.
