this game was originally a test pilot for a larger game which was basically "mask of monsters except northsidegal is also scum and disguised" which schadd_ said that he would mod for me (which if anyone thinks sounds fun, i would recommend against saying so, because it will just allow me to alt-guess-kill you far easier if it does happen)

but that sort of disguiser game also sounds like a lot of fun, and still retains the primary elements of this game that i really enjoy while also not forcing one scum to control two accounts

i was going to bring this up in the secret alt queue MD thread but i suppose i'll say it here first, and it's that i think that it makes of sense for any secret alt game to have some kind of anti-alt-claim mechanic. here it took the form of an alt-guess-kill, which i would say is the most logical.

i think that rules preventing people from talking about their mains or talking about other people's are super awkward and lend themselves to people trying to skirt around them in a way that makes it really awkward to both play and mod. it also introduces sort of a game breaking element on alt-slips, whereas an alt-guess-kill turns that into just a game mechanic. from there i think the only game breaking mechanics would be deliberately faking an alt slip to mislead (which i don't think anyone currently on-site would do) and the issue of activity / replacements

on the subject of activity, i'd like to thank everyone for their great activity. the last time i attempted a game of this sort it was ruined by low activity, so i'm incredibly thankful that i never had to modkill anyone for low activity. that was my least favorite part of the setup that i had to include but schadd convinced me that it was necessary, i'm glad that it never had to be done

why did you keep prods as a secret?

if i were to run this game again i would probably remove prods as any sort of "official" mechanic and still just poke people if it had been around two days since their last post

they didn't need to be kept track of because nobody could be replaced, and i suppose i just felt like announcing prods was one of those conventions of mafia that people just take as a given that didn't really make sense in this setup.

And it obscured the inordinately large amount of prods that both of my accounts received :X

Honestly I don't think I have a satisfactory answer though. You just have a pretty distinctive ~energy~ and as soon as the thought of it being you crossed my mind (and it did so because of the title thread, so without that slip it might never have occurred to me, I can't say), a lot of your whimsical and melodramatic mannerisms suddenly made a lot of sense.

You are quite the bloodhound to power through the lengths of obfuscation I went to with that post, y'know.

Having tried to run a secret alt game many moons ago that was plagued with inactivity and generally not very good, I have to commend the players in this one for not letting it fall into a sea of total apathy (which seems to be common in secret alt games). I do think the anti-altslip mechanic is a good one, but having to balance against it might've put things a bit too much in town's favor? Still, commendably clever.
