I do want to signal boost dragon's post about LLD choosing a different approach this game being hard null. Don't scumread or townread for it, just run with it.

At some point maybe Lady Rhea (you're getting called that unless it's objectionable, checkmark up if so) can try to explain the read on me, probably AFTER absorbing the new data.

I would even say that my theory is that while yes, town can use shards, scum actually wants to be the one to get them.

Look at what bork said. Look at what Medea said. Medea said they're a demon right now. That's 1. Is there 2? I would say if you're a demon go ahead and claim because it's numbers advantage.

I still feel that it holds valid. I still think there would have been more focus on the shard mechanic, especially pre-nerfbat. It's not like, the towniest townread that ever townread, but it's sufficient to clear Lady Rhea off the list for today, for sure.

I mentioned this earlier, but there was another game a lot of the players here were in, called Tenet, where there was a vaguely similar mechanic, with a public-vote-to-use mechanic and both town and scum had reasons to desire the change. I do see the parallels to this game, and am operating under the assumption that both town and scum could potentially want to go to one side or the other of the human/demon divide.

My current working theory is thus:

Town has:
1x 2 shards starting
3x 1 shard starting
6x 0 shards starting

Mafia has:
1x 2 shards starting
2x 1 shards starting

I could see a world in which town has one additional shard in play and scum only has 3 total, but the above is my guess.

"They felt great in the minute, but really shit upon ISO review" is how Penguin explained it to me, but that was prior to the engagement stuff which mitigates it a tiny bit for me.

Bork likely readjusted the numbers because there is probably 1 demon who is scum and 1 demon who is town. We can mechanically assume Medea is the town demon until proven otherwise.

The other 2 mafia are likely humans.

I embrace it in different ways.

This is something that also bothers me about Sleez TBH, but I still remain neutral.

I just think half the time they're looking more at the rightness of athing than whether something is scummy or not and when scum don't have to hunt, some go all in on theory or all in on being self-righteous and then just use that to brow beat the town.

I think that specifically in their case, that's not quite right because they are being quite communicative and they tend to follow it up with questions on morality or approach rather than just adding oil to the fire. But it's there.
