Okay when you have a moment share why you believe Korts or Shanba maybe scum over OP?DrippingGoofball wrote:I'm town too, maybe you feel that way because I'mfarside22 wrote:Hey no laughing. I'm starting to feel like the only town person alive right now.braindead.
What do you think about Korts claim on roleblocking OP?
Sarcasm is just a way of saying how stupid you think someone is but in a more polite way.
I tracked OP who targeted no one.
No. No no no no no. I refuse to lose this one here. I am
I don't think farside is scum. I might be wrong. She doesn't
If DGB is scum I salute her epic gambit. Her explanation for events is the only sensible one for the dead hohumscum.
It comes down to OP vs Korts, for me. I dithered over which one to track last night. I should have targeted Korts. Damn it, I'll bitch about myself post game.
We have the choice between lynching me, OP and Korts. If we lynch me, then that is equivalent to lynching Korts as well. Why? Well, if we're lynching, either I will turn up scum or town. If I turn up scum, then game would be over, no need to worry about anything. If I turn up town, however, we go to night with the roles looking like this:
Farside Mason
DGB DV
OP Blocker
Korts Tracker
and the next morning the rotation will kick in. If op is scum, she would kill anyone but dgb and be double voter in 3p endgame, so we lose the extra lynch. Therefore, if town survive the night, they can be certain Korts is scum. IOW, lynching me implies lynching Korts tomorrow.
By similar logic, lynching OP implies lynching me tomorrow, since Korts would be double voter in the morning and with no blocker to stop him, he would be able to kill anyone but dgb, as scum, to win the game.
So either way I die, and the choice is between OP and Korts, with lynching Korts meaning lynching me today. Can anyone see any flaws in this argument?
Personally, I think Korts is scummier than OP, but the reasoning is all gooey gut and WIFOM.
No. No no no no no. I refuse to lose this one here. I am

going to be lynched. Bring your arguments, Farside, I'll see them demolished. It has become, now, a simple process of elimination.I don't think farside is scum. I might be wrong. She doesn't
feel
like scum. There's a case to be brought against her, but there's a case to be brought against just about anyone in this game, now. EDIT - of course, she can't be scum. Either DGB is lying and therefore DGB is scum or, far more likely, DGB is telling the truth, in which case farside is not scum.If DGB is scum I salute her epic gambit. Her explanation for events is the only sensible one for the dead hohumscum.

Shanba: It really bugs me how you actually Empking day 1 and plead with those to wait to day 2 before lynching because of his role but you never voted for him at all. Not once did you seem to want to move into Empking direction and pushed other cases instead.
Looking about your post the out of the 2 scums in the game you only FOS hohum. Now mind you I believed hohum to be town and Korts reasoning to be crap. I started to think you and korts as a scum pair.
Now as for OP. I really can't buy it. Funny thing is I roleblocked him myself. You know why.
I felt watcher was a more powerful role to have end game in case we mislynch today. I left Shanba with the watcher role to use.
As for why I roleblocked OP. I looked at DGB and felt certain about my analysis of Neko's actions as non scum.
Tracker needs results and I wanted to see what if anything Korts would do as RB. Role blocking a role blocker seemed dumb.
I seriously almost want to no lynch just to get something to happen at night that was more informative then what happened.
I don't believe Korts if he told me the sky was blue in this game.
OP is been mindless and his play day 1 horrible.
Do I believe scum was bussing day 2 with OP and Emp.
No.
there for my vote is for korts

"Can one of you guys do it? I much prefer watching," Vivian says with a wry smile.
"I'd love to," says Evette as she leaps out of her chair.
"This is going to hurt isn't it?" asks Korts.
"I wouldn't know, why don't you tell me," Evette replies while lodging her fist into Korts' chest.
"Damn it, I really wanted to keep that," says Korts pointing towards his heart. He falls down in a heep drained of color.
"He's clean," says Evette matter-of-factly. "See ya later Viv, hope you liked the show."

This night is quieter than the last as Priscilla had no interest in playing Popomatic Trouble with DrippingGoofball or Lenny. However, it was more bloody. You find a trail of blood leading back to farside22's room. She lies facedown but from the pooling of the blood you can tell her throat has been slit. And from the Settlers of Catan manual sticking out of her back pocket you can tell she was a
Lonely Bastard
whose throat was slit Night 4.
It is now Day 5. With 3 alive it takes 2 to lynch or No Lynch.

This sucks.
Do you all want to know what I did last night? I watched farside. No one targeted farside. Right. I don't even see how that can be possible with the roles still alive.
And, holy shit. I'm cleared. I misread the way the roles moved. I thought OP would be double voter today! I am double voter and I am not hammering. What beauutiful irony that I, who have been wrong about just about everything so far this game, get to make the endgame choice. Speak to me, peoples. Claim your night actions.

The only thing that is holding me back is a certain degree of paranoia. Which player could I see pulling a gambit like the one DGB pulled? Well, DGB would be one of the few, and the more I think about it, the more I realise that it wouldn't be a bad gambit to pull. But I'm also aware that it simply wouldn't cross most scum's minds.
I reckon you are right, DGB, that OP blocked me. Unfortunately, I can't work out anything from that. Scum, apparently, can action at night as well as kill if they are the last scum. Furthermore, OP would have blocked me as town, too. I suspect what will happen today is I will dither for a bit and then vote for OP. I could go back and read the thread, but there isn't any smoking gun that will change my mind, there isn't anything I can concretely put my hand up and say "this proves it." The truth of the matter is, though, that DGB/neko has been scummier than OP all game and I don't
OP, by contrast, has looked town, apart from some lurking. There was some weird stuff around empking, and some bad phrasing early on. He claimed to put Empking in jail. The breakdown where he went after ssk and emp was not as impressive as I thought, not as town as I remembered.
Argh. Someone help me.

to be wrong again. Cognitive biases are making this tough. I still think his move on to the Empking wagon looks weird, which is more telling now that we know Empking was scum. He was one of those who latched on to the empking tracker idea after seraphim brought it up. DGB has been awful since she replaced in, culminating in the unexplained hammer of korts yesterday.OP, by contrast, has looked town, apart from some lurking. This is my first speed dating game, and my second 'small town.' I tend not to like the small town setups, and I was unclear on how the roles rotated, and I had no idea I had a double vote.
Shanba, if you were scum, you would have quick hammered anyone, it wouldn't matter to you which townies dies. So clearly, you're town.
I replaced at night, but had no time to read the thread. So I simply took Neko's choices. In hindsight, neko had given it some thought, and calculated the thing about the PGO being the SECOND target. His choices were excellent.
But, not knowing the calculations behind his choice, I had to go figure out from scratch what he was thinking.

Paraphrasing a role PM takes seconds, fabricating a good fakeclaim takes an eternity.

Sorry. Sunday = Hectic for me.
(I had just started writing a case at 8:30, after reading neko/DGB's post, with quotes and all that jazz, but I hit a button, and my post was cleared (I had hit the link to the thread at the top), so now I have to re-write everything. *SIGH*)
I will have it posted momentarily.

Okay, that wasn't momentarily as I hoped. The post being cleared really annoyed me, so I went away for a few hours, and did some other stuff.
First off, just to clear things up: I blocked Shanba. Going into the night, I was pretty confident that Shanba was scum. Given the night kill on farside and the fact that Shanba hasn't hammered yet, I think it's safe to assume Shanba = town. I am town. This means DGB is scum.
I went through their posts before, talking about the PGO pick, the subtle bussing day 1 against Empking (fake vote on him and later not wanting to lynch him cause of role) and stuff like that. Then neko's sudden departure. Then I mentioned how little DGB has posted thus far, and how the last post she just made was the longest she's made so far, and how little she has contributed, staying in the background. Then she hammers Korts (with no reasoning with the vote, although she listed prior suspicion beforehand..), saying she wasn't aware that she was the double voter. Seriously? Plus, you said you hadn't had time to read? Yet you still were confident enough to hammer somebody, huh?

That sentence doesn't even make sense. How does make me surely scum? You obviously know Shanba is town, so of course you are going to call the other person scum. Shanba is confirmed town, so you have no choice but to go after me. Fair enough. But I blocked Shanba before she was literally confirmed town, when I thought he was the scummiest person remaining, after Korts turned out to be town. In hindsight, I wish I would've blocked DGB, but eh. Shanba seemed like the best choice at the time. I wasn't going to block farside, and I thought Shanba was more scummier than neko/DGB, so that's why I made my choice, but since there was a night kill, the scum has to be DGB, since I know my alignment, and Shanba would've hammered if he was scum.OP was roleblocking, right? Maybe Shanba's result was roleblocked?
Shanba, if you're town, then OP surely is scum.
There must be an explanation for your result.
It comes down to reason against gut. Reason here tells me that OP is scum, but my gut is crying out that it's OP. This sort of disconnect happens to me all the time in endgame, which is one of the reasons that I'm frankly not very good at it. I've learnt to trust my gut in these situations, as it tends to be more accurate than my head, but here, for once I think I have to go with my head.
The simple truth is that hohum superkilled a PGO. That doesn't make sense. There's nothing in the game that can explain it. Except DGB. There aren't any alternative explanations to fall back on like there are with OP jailkeeping emp day 1, for which there are myriad explanations for scum. The only one that has any credence is that it was a gambit, but frankly, I don't think he would have superkilled if it were a gambit. The superkill makes by far more sense if he was trying to off the protown looking player and the tracker. Gambits like that just don't
And to be frank, OP isn't as town as I thought going into today. OP, if you're town, I'm sorry, but tbh, there was nothing you could really do to change my mind at this point. Essentially, I was awaiting some sor of miracle from you, which was obviously unlikely.
gg all.

: DrippingGoofball"Finally, my turn," exclaims Evette.
"Oh the suspense is killing me," Chastity blurts out. "I can't wait to find out if he's the killer."
"Are you a moron or something?" Priscilla chides. "He's wearing a freaking suit and carrying a breifcase, you haven't seen the pattern yet?"
"In fact these people are so stupid, I don't care if they passed the test we should just blow them up anyway."
Meanwhile in the background you see Evette ripping out orangepenguin's heart. He flaps his little orange flippers about. "Is penguin blood supposed to be black, I can't really tell if he's contaminated," asks Evette.
"Yes he's evil,
the Lonely Bastards have won
, but it really doesn't matter because we're going to blow up this planet. I'm sick of Hannah never letting us have any fun. Good luck cracking the 100 digit code Earthlings" And the remaining three space dates are beamed up to their mothership.
"Holy crap, what are we going to do, we've got to do something," Shanba exclaims exasperated.
"How bout a game of PopoMatic Trouble?," asks DGB.
"Are you crazy?"
"Yeah, you're right I don't think we'd finish in time."
Suddenly Shanba has a flashback "IIIIi goooootttt diiiiiggeeeeetttssss," Oman screams in low pitched slow motion waiving a sheet of paper. "That's it, of course that wasn't a phone number."
You all mocked Oman for waiving around a sheet of legal paper covered in numbers thinking it was Hannah's phone number. She must have been leaving you the code to defuse the bomb. Shanba pulls the yellow paper from Oman's back pocket. Meanwhile DGB's PopoMatic trouble is flashing red lights and has sprouted a keypad. The duo enters the 100 digit sequence just in time and the Earth is saved (not to mention Match.com has subsequently gone out of business for killing a lot of speed daters).
"Damn it I still didn't get laid"

I hope you guys enjoyed yourselves.
Sorry the game started out on the slow side. I was very happy and excited reading the last few days. And was really amazed orangepenguin lasted as long as he did. After the "everybody blocks OP" night I figured he was done for.
Comments/criticizms please.
Also what did you guys think about the slight alterations to traditional smalltown?
Thanks a ton to all of the replacements!

Also neko's gambit really opened the game wide for town. That was a crazy ballsy play that easily could have backfired. The scum barely had any chance to win after that night.
Finally the role resolution order answers all of your questions. The PGO kill registers before the Doc protection so scum didn't need to use a superkill in order to take out the PGO.
They actually used their Superkill to take out ThAdmiral Night 1. I really think the scum night actions were their downfall. Having both investigative roles N1, the doctor clearly should have been killed.

I didn't trust Korts. I think that was what it came down to for me. I'm surprised to see OP did say he Jailed his scum buddy and they had that infight.
I have to ask if they did that on purpose.
I knew mafiassk wasn't scum that to me was the worse lynch ever. DGB was so not scum.
I even told shaft. if OP blocks shanba and kills me he was scum. OP should not have killed and blocked. Best thing to have done was either kill or RB.
Personally I would have blocked Shanba and hoped like hell I could have sold shanba as scum

OP and hohum played well for scum.
Empking being lynched tells it's own tale. Even with half the town trying to protect him (me included) he still got himself lynched day 2.
Farside, I felt, played really well this game. When I stated day 1 that I had a certain amount of townreads that list was basically farside, Korts, Oman. Farside continued to look pro-town throughout the whole game and was fairly accurate in her scumreads.
Neko's gambit
I don't like that I was told that no one targeted farside. If a roleblocker blocks someone, he blocks them, he doesn't make them get misleading results. That didn't have an effect on the game but it could very well have done if the tracker, say, had picked up scum and been blocked. No result is a far better way of handling that even if it tells the person he's been blocked. In smalltown like this it's not giving a whole lot away when you confirm that someone is a roleblocker!
The rotation of the roles mechanism was interesting. I think town do have to take roles into consideration day 1 and possibly day 2 when lynching. If at endgame we'd had PGO, target sensor, role swapper, anytime mason and Hider, say, then the result would have been very different. However, town also needs to be aware of which roles it ought to get rid of. Double Voter may have won us the game (by clearing me - pretty sure I'd have been lynched otherwise), but it took so much control out of the hands of town that it was a massively risky thing to hold on to going into endgame. Incidentally, when I thought that Empking was town, I wanted him alive because I figured it would give scum an awkward dilemma - kill the tracker and the scummy townie or let the scummy townie live but also let the tracker live? Either way we would benefit.
Xtoxm really pissed me off with his selfvoting. I don't care what you may be thinking about how it will benefit the town, at the very least let scum make up the numbers themselves rather than making yourself an easy lynch. Harder lynches are more interesting to town anyway, in general.
Apologies to Tanarin, MafiaSSk, Korts and neko for suspeting you all. Oops.

Neko's gambit
was
good. Too often gambits are poorly thought out limp raglike things that are never going to help anyone and will just generally make everything more confused and fucked up for everyone except the gambitter, who typically draws the wrong conclusions from his gambit anyway. Neko's gambit, otoh, removed the most pro-town looking of the scum while protecting the tracker and farside. Keeping a confirmed innocent into the endgame was a massive bonus.I don't like that I was told that no one targeted farside.
