I will provide you with the state of your current list at any time by request, of course

hurts count as a marker in the cycle right? in each cycle he could boost the archangels then place a hurt on each remaining player to reset his cycle. town would fix each hurt and scum would have no recourse but to kill random townies assuming their rage cap could not stop this. it just wouldnt happen as fast as batto suggested, but it was definitely the optimal play for both town and ns.

Initially, I thought hurts counted; Flay told me they didn't somewhere in the second (?) cycle. That's why I hurt WLC early on, then never hurt anyone again.

It says he can boost people after hurt/healing not just boosting...

He could just hurt/heal every non archangel and perma boost archangels...?

But as mentioned, there were never more than about six alive at once, and usually only 3 or 4 active. That made controlling the narrative or even just gaining Rage very difficult on the team.

The fact that we lynched 1 and the voting mechanic drove off the remaining 5 who had to be replaced counts as a town win, even if not a victory.

Heh, well my reads were quite off anyway =P
It's little wonder the town ate each-other early on in the game, givin the numbers and activity from the mafia. In saying that the mafia were in a strong position when the game ended.. so yeah.

ftr I would of let NS win with the town, given the choice.

Thanks for the moderation Mr. Flay! It was fun even if the game did'nt go as planned. (I think having around 40 players for any game is too much though)

Yeah, the "Hurt" in NS's role PM was a typo. He only got credit for a cycle if he energized, Healed, or boosted everyone still around at the end of it.

Also, here's the Rules As Written Archangel PM:
Loyal Archangel
Role:
You are a
Loyal Archangel
, one of the most powerful beings in all of Heaven. This war has dragged on long enough that God has endorsed your participation in the carnage.

Win Condition:
You stand on the side of God and against all threats to Heaven's peace. You win if all such infidels are cast out, and at least one Loyal Angel/Archangel survives.

Powers:
  • You begin the game with 14 HP.
  • You may either Hurt or Heal players in thread, as can all other roles. The tags
    HURT:
    and
    HEAL:
may be used in place of
    VOTE:
for this game, or you can just bold them as usual.
  • You may instead choose to focus on
    defending
someone from possible attacks. PM me their name and I will start the defensive stance 6 hours after your last Hurt/Heal (immediately, if possible). If someone attacks that player, you will deflect it, but you must rest for 6 hours before defending again. Hurting or Healing will stop your defense immediately; you may also stop defending or switch to another player with another PM, if you're just tired of not being attacked.

As written, it's not a bad role, I just goofed in not remembering that no other role could target itself. :trout: Probably could have used a few less starting HP, too.

So, as written, if someone spent 6 rage on a target an Archangel was defending, would it negate 1 point or all 6?

by Mr. Flay
One point (they did not know this, though some deduced it eventually). Only time it would do more was against a Seraph's blade.

so town could have done the archangel only boost situation as described by simply having someone hurt someone and then letting ns put a heal on them. its effectively the same situation as before except healer/hurter are reversed.

It would also take over a month of concentrated effort by NS and at least one other player, to get all the claimed "Archangels" a 1HP boost. Meanwhile scum have around 24 more Rage Points...

Obviously it is the type of role that only works once, and only in a Closed Setup.

I don't have a problem with it being posted, but I'll let the others weigh in first.

Be advised that there's a lot of me whining in there.

Incidentally, Mr. Flay, what algorithm did you use to decide the alignment of the replacements, or is that secret?

There seem to be problematic imbalances both in making it similar to the alignment balance of people who flaked, and in making it similar to the alignment balance of the initial setup.

It won't be revealed, but it's somewhere in between there. Basically it seeks to preserve the 'current' balance of the game, though there's some other details that make it an inexact science.

I think the mechanic is interesting and I would play again as a mini, but the player-forced slow pace of this game was TERRIBLE. It made the game SO unenjoyable.

And being scum in this game SUUUUUCKED like twenty thousand dicks, through no fault of Flay's. I don't think I can express how watching almost every single one of your buddies flaking continually makes you feel. Especially when before they flake, they make killing IMPOSSIBLE. It was demoralizing and completely sapped all motivation.

Scooby, honestly, you can suck it. I never said I played well this game, because I didn't. I did, however, play with a plan and a strategy and it was ultimately very successful for me. I didn't want to be lynched - but I played the game in a specific way that would make me a valuable member of the team even if I died. My day play wasn't what I would ever call "good" in this game, but it was EFFECTIVE. My death set my team up for an ultimate win (in my opinion) and I don't think Magua would have ever been lynched, largely because of our concerted cross-bussing.

You played terrible

And you are basically am attention lady that needs to be complimented in her EFFECTIVE play to feel good.

Grow up

I didn't ask for any compliments. I wouldn't accept them, for my play here, anyway. I don't know why you feel the need to be so rude to everyone ever.

There were not enough mislynches left for scum to win

Stefan and MAYBE PV those were the only 2
