ok time for the #controversy



lzzy hale more like lzzy bail. haha get it because she bailed. anyway like look. lzzy was fun to interact with? she certainly had the social chops to get to the merge, obivously. the problem here is three-fold and i will describe each of those folds in organic detail for you know

1) if you're asking people to vote you off, do us all a favour and medevac. that way someone else can go on the jury instead of you quitting and all. sry
2) a character needs character and while a lot of it's there in private, i can't use that in consideration. she is a good character! but enjoyable to read is not that enjoyable if you go back and redact everything as she's done
3) let's talk about the botb jury huh

i've been trying to figure out for a long time when the botb jury should start to be culled because the main two arguments here are a) it was poisonous and gross and game-damaging; b) it was full of actual character and real emotion and is a goldmine of content. personally, por que no los dos. there's a lot of gross jury stuff (me? saying that? its more likely than u think) but i think in terms of those two arguments, lzzy is amongst the most heavily tilted towards the former. her jury ploy didn't work, and she literally volunteered to be voted out. so i'm like, hm

anyway this is a cut that can happen now

Shadowfax seems to have been a decently middle of the road contestant who got into the majority alliance on his first tribe then got kind of a bad swap and was in trouble. To his credit, it seems he managed to cause some drama during his elimination by pretending to have votes that he in no way actually had. Unfortunately this is only poorly recorded.

He was perceived as controlling and the cause of the drama as a result of these actions, all moreso assuring his departure. Basically, a pretty average character and average without too many clear standout moments isn't good enough anymore.

Zingbot was a fun character choice with a lot of potential. He started off pretty well and formed an alliance with Jenn and Jordan. After Jenn disappeared, Zingbot volunteered to be nominated against her so he could head to Casaya. As HoH there, he targeted Jay in an effort to break up that tribe's majority alliance.

After a shipwreck twist that put the remaining 15 players together, everyone was pretty content with eliminating Spencer, although Spencer saved himself by "winning" a Power of Veto challenge, which resulted in Jessie to select Zingbot as a replacement. Zingbot's activity after the shipwreck had started to wane, and he was seen as a periphery of the Casaya alliance which everyone wanted to target for some reason. Zingbot was voted off, only for the eviction to be canceled when it was discovered that Spencer's veto win was illegitimate. Then Zingbot quit the next round anyway. Zingbot came into the game strong, but exited the game in a pretty anticlimactic way, which didn't leave his character with much of a *story arc*.

Draco was an okay character. He floated through the Ravenclaw tribe and latched onto the Peeves and Stan duo at the swap. During the next swap, he didn't make any strong connections and was voted out. During the game, he did just enough to survive until he didn't.

In his confessional was another story. Survivor Hogwarts had a mechanic where the players could buy items using money. This money could be earned through surviving, winning challenges and writing good confessionals. While people like Fenrir, Klick, Cephrir and Cybele were putting in lots of effort and earning the full 10 galleons, Draco's idea of a good confessional was a single post giving a one sentence answer to a couple mod questions. Needless to say, Draco often received 5 galleons for a mediocre confessional.

Instead of being disappointed and moving on, though, Draco took every 5 he received personally. He had a thread where he would complain every time he got a 5. That thread is three pages long. It sounds like this should move Draco up but there is a line between a memorable character quirk and annoying, and Draco's constant complaining was definitely annoying. Plus he didn't really add much to the season anyway.

You don't understand, I have a series of PMs with Draco where I'm talking him out of quitting the game over not getting the full 10 galleons for his confessional. Like there were quite a few times he wanted to just quit the game after giving me all of his gold. And Stan and I were not down with this. We wanted his vote much more than we wanted his gold. So he stayed and it was gr8. He also was super cute and I loved him in my classroom.

You did. You were on the swapped tribe with him when he finally went out. I was not.

except, unfortunately, marco's another one of those characters where it's just like, mid-game boot see you later. there is something slightly interesting to this in that rubio was voted out without a single eliminating vote cast against him (i'm not counting the second debate here), which is neat. but like, anyway. the thing with privatei characters is they're kinda like, kinda adorable, and maybe always a little bit just there. and that's not a knock because as you can see above, <3333333 privatei, but like, yeah.

and he didn't even get an idol. which sucks
