the entire mindset of "solving the game" as they talk about it now is viscerally unappealing to me and i got suspected in a game for not playing that way

Oh no I absolutely agree with you, I went on a tangent of how much I dislike herosolves. I think that it's inherently selfish. People now try to play D1 like it's D5 in their head for some reason. I think people would enjoy themselves more if confbias didn't settle in, because it makes the game less organic. All of my decisions made in this game were very much in the moment, even if they lead to town death due to the circumstances I was put in.

I don't regret it though, I'd rather learn from a mistake then try to circumvent one by playing in such a solvey way. I've always had in my head (who I think the scumteam is) but it was never so predetermined that I stopped looking at pages altogether. I think what happens in solvestates (no other word to put it) is that you narrow your field of vision and start assuming behavior of other people. It creates this frustrating dynamic where compromise is no longer seen because some people are so self-absorbed, or even put that responsibility on themselves. Shit happens. It's a forever learning process and there is no perfect formula for townplay. Solves feel like people trying to optimize in such a tedious and demanding way. I scumread you and I'm going off the evidence that I feel is present and also my own self-assurance. If it's wrong? GG and I've learned for next time.

I don't like the idea of hero solves either, or at least solving against all odds. Personally I've still yet to find a perfect way to figure out a game. I seem to read people horribly behavior wise and do better when I start poeing interactions / votes / wagons. Not that I'm saying that is particularly good on my end either. I have better luck working backwards than working forwards. So poe tends to be where I have a shot

Going to do a few of these newb games in the hope, I can find someway to play better as town. I tend to pretty well as mafia and my town game is weak.

Which sucks about this. I feel as if my choice will be the win / loss

@peta I'm far from voting. This scenario here is why I wanted to play a starter game. I'm bad as town and win or lose, this type of game is exactly what I need to improve myself and trust myself more. It's ironic that I'm likely going to end up in the situation of picking. But I'm grateful regardless of outcome. It will humble me because this has been unexpectedly stressful

Towngames are really unfun when a select few of people start demanding the gamestate in such a way that leaves less interpretation. This is only effective if you have blind faith or someone who happens to be town also happens to be mostly right and happens to stay alive enough/give influence to the town.

At that point for me personally, what's the point of playing if I'm not the one leading (which I hate doing)

Then you just have a ton of people trying to assume leader role and it's just frustrating man

well it's not day 1, it's day 3 and it's ELo and i wouldn't blame anyone for wanting to think that way and try to call the team; my mind just doesn't work like that is all

no lie i will actually be a little pissed if you're town but it is starting to feel like i was right at the start of the day
