While I suppose it could've avoided what just happened, I didn't want to clue either of you in to what was going on any more than necessary in case either of you did catch what was going on and were scum. How many days had it been?

Voidedmafia had lost track. He knew that his stay here had not been long, yet he couldn't help feeling that there was a spring breeze outside, beckoning to him. Sometimes, in those rare moments of silence, he could hear birds singing their little spring songs. Yes, if he could only finish his business here, he would be out in the sunshine and be done with this holiday once and for all. For all those sensations that he felt, however, he knew it was simply yearning; when he was done here, he would still have to greet the world in all its chilly glory.

He turned back to the other two who were trapped with him in the lounge. ThursdayAngel and Zenatsu had been restless all day, one shuffling about the room while the other fidgeted in his seat. Occasionally, they swapped roles. At the moment, they were in the middle of an argument, the quiet, simmering kind that had always given Voidedmafia chills just by hearing how soft it was. He listened carefully for anything that could tell him who the mafioso between them was. He heard nothing, nothing but painful memories of the past few days when they had all killed in desperation.

When he couldn't take it anymore, he told them to get on with it. Zenatsu stopped, and he stood up. Voidedmafia didn't like the look he had in his eye, but there was not much time for Voidedmafia to ponder upon this as what came after was much worse. As Voidedmafia stood, frozen in place by the horror he felt, he listened as Zenatsu listed all of the crimes Voidedmafia had committed this past day and all of the other days. ThursdayAngel could only nod in silence as Zenatsu spoke, each accusation heavier than the last.

And then it was done. Zenatsu and ThursdayAngel cleared the table in the center of the lounge, and they inflicted Voidedmafia upon it with everything they had.

Zenatsu looked up at ThursdayAngel. ThursdayAngel smiled at him, proud of what the two of them had done together; they had served justice, and it was the greatest feeling Zenatsu had felt for a long time. Even though he knew that they had chosen correctly, he still had to check Voidedmafia's body. It was only right. He looked through Voidedmafia's pockets. Finding nothing, he patted Voidedmafia down, checking for any other places Voidedmafia could have hidden identification. Zenatsu took off Voidedmafia's socks, still finding nothing.

He was worried now. Surely Voidedmafia would have carried something on him. Surely he would have found Voidedmafia's gun by now or some card listing him as "goon member of the mafia since XXXX." Zenatsu took out the drawers from the table, hoping against hope that Voidedmafia would have left something in there, even if the reason for that was beyond Zenatsu. Nothing. He didn't want to think about the possibility that he had just lynched an innocent man. He couldn't because the consequence of that would be far too frightening.

Zenatsu heard the tell-tale click from ThursdayAngel's gun. Game over.

ThursdayAngel dropped the gun beside Zenatsu and kicked it under the table. It did not matter to him if the police found it; he would be long gone by the time they arrived, if they were coming at all. A town that judged its own people by serial lynchings could not possibly have any law enforcement authority. It just wouldn't make sense. ThursdayAngel gave the lounge one last look, and he stepped out into the winter cold. The door closed shut behind him, which was when he noticed a little wreath hung upon a nail.

It was difficult to stand under this decoration and not feel some of the holiday cheer. The place had been decked out with colorful lights and crimson and green banners. Even the sign by the door was not spared a Santa hat. ThursdayAngel hummed a little carol to himself as he sauntered down the street ankle-deep in snow but not giving it a bit of care. Four days it had been since this had all started. On this, the fourth night, he would celebrate... in memory of RayFrost, and in the joy of knowing he had won a hard-fought battle of wits.

It was a good game. I had a feeling it was TA all along as a silent observer. He did an excellent job though. Voided you had a rough spot replacing after Brin especially into this late in the game. It was a good try.
