Full disclosure, I joined this game expecting an average of 60 seconds per day phase until I died without posting.

So now that we’re here my next instinct is to break setup. Hypo claim cop targets and have the same person shoot to keep the pool of potential cops large feels optimal, but I haven’t run any numbers and definitely haven’t put more than 10 minutes of thought into it. If no one who’s alive has taken a shot yet, we probably want to have 2nd scummiest person shoot most scummy. This is on the assumption that goons probably can’t shoot.

Im a little conflicted because the whole finding scummy people thing involves actually playing mafia, which is again, not what I expected from this game.

If there is general consensus this is best I'm fine with it, but I think there is a lot of benefit in picking someone scummy and saying "hey you, daykill this other scummy person or you get shot"
Agree, there is a lot of value here. Possibly more value than could ever come from keeping the pool of potential cops big. I’m phone only this weekend, but I can run some numbers Monday I guess if the day goes that long?

I’m not sure if it’s fair to even call this a push, but I find myself siding with Pokerface. Checking murdercat N1 does feel like a waste and I think questioning people claiming that result makes sense. Maybe not right now, but certainly if the person claims to be a real cop down the road.

I feel the same tbh

don't think questionable hypocop results are scummy and trying to argue it is is suspect

agree, think scum often default to pushing things that look bad other than things which are objectively likely to be untruths

oh and EVEN WORSE they may not even be alignment indicative untruths!!!

Just thinking about this more, goons being able to shoot would just be broken for scum, yeah? I know someone said that already but I didn't think that deeply about it then. Can anyone better at setups think through that and confirm?

This is something I've thought about a fair bit myself.

If scum are able to shoot, they can save their shots, and when the town has 2x more people than them, the setup turns into a shootout of who can post first. So I definitely think that's not the case. Unfortunately, I've come up with no solution, and I was actually discussing this with the mod in scumchat a couple days before this entered sign-ups, but this is already a big turn from what I posited

I'd only ever day kill you.

We should not vote for who does the kill, dummies, that's a good way to out cops.

Just as likely to out goons no? And isn't 1 for 1 cop for goon a good trade?

Why are we assuming goons can’t daykill?

I mean - there is no vote mechanic in this game so the daykill is = to voting.

Assuming the setup is just broken otherwise, if you don't think that's the case please share

I’m not entirely sure tbh. Keep in mind that the last setup had three cops whereas this one only has two.

Was true in the last game. Only the Godfather had the ability to daykill. I do think there’s some sort of change to that though.

This setup is explicitly different than the last one.

Yeah it is, we’re just (obviously) trying to figure out how so. I don’t think starting from the last setup and building from there is the worst idea in the world.

It's basically 3 extra factional kills

Yes, and?

Also I'm assuming that we can do better than randomly yeeting people during the day and just relying on cops at night.

Though I recognize the setup is explicitly designed for that and I've been accused of taking Shea's troll games too seriously in the past

If goons log in first the setup becomes 11:4 which does not feel balanced at all? (And that's not including the nks.)

But obviously I'm open to anyone actually running numbers on it
