Let's see, a guy who ate fish, a snarklady, and firehazard Elf. That would be definitely memorable.

No worries! Excited to contribute to this dumpster fire.

"Ah, it's Nathaniel, actually. Nathaniel Silverleaf... I'm sure you've heard of me? Never mind."

The halfling strides out onto stage with purpose, chest puffed out. He slowly becomes aware of the sheer number of eyes currently trained on him, as he waits for applause that never came. Suddenly nervous, he shifts from one foot to the other, silently cursing himself for not planning out his act while everyone else had performed.

Lacking better ideas, the halfling draws an elegant rapier from his side, waving it side to side as it glinted in the light. Nathaniel can feel sweat pooling on his brow.

Suddenly and inexplicably, the halfling launches the rapier with all his force towards the target.

Nathaniel quickly tosses the rapier at the target. It lands...straight into the bullseye, not very deep, but deep enough to stick. The crowd is moderately impressed. They "ooh" and applaud for the halfling. Considering how "interactive" the show has been so far, they're pretty excited to see something work out.

Goertz claps his hands and wraps an arm around the halfling. "I knew you could do it, kid," he whispers before addressing the crowd one last time. "Ladies and Gentlemen and Non-Binary Friends, give it up for Tel Nadev's own Fascinating Sharks!" After some applause, the audience starts to file out, certainly with an interesting story to tell if not the best show they've ever seen. Goertz pulls the curtain down and takes you back to the green room behind the stage to dole out gold based on performance.

"My opening act, the fish eater! That was great. I'll give you 10gp for that." Goertz hands Aulric 10gp.

"Alright. Ghost hand gnome. Kinda scary. But impressive. I'll give you 7gp, but next time try not to assault the audience, eh?" Goertz hands Cael 7gp.

Goertz turns to Ashlyn and he almost turns away, but he sighs. "Alright lady, you broke my stage and my fishtank. I think this is fair." Goertz tosses Ashlyn 1sp.

Goertz turns to the dragonborn. "Eh. You tried. Here's a couple." He hands Dilzipaan 3gp.

"My kenku. That was pretty neat. I'll give you 5 for it." He hands Thwick 5gp.

Goertz looks reluctantly at the elf. "You owe me a chair." He tosses 1sp in the elf's direction.

Goertz smiles as he looks at his fellow halfling. "Ah. You were refreshing. Not the flashiest thing in the world but certainly entertaining none-the-less." He hands Nathaniel 10gp.

Goertz looks proudly amongst you, happy he found you all. "Hey folks, I've got another show coming up. I wouldn't mind seeing most of you back if you're interested." Goertz claps his hands a couple of times and sighs, before leaving the backstage room. As you collect your belongings and get ready to leave, a tall man dressed in the city guard’s light armor enters the room. He introduces himself as Bramley, and you can tell by a scar on his face and the stripes on his armor that he’s a seasoned fighter and a higher ranked member of the guard.

“Hello, I hope I’m not intruding. It was a great show you put on. But if you all are looking for real work for adventurers like you, I think I have something a little more interesting than Goertz’s little talent show. There’s a wild beast in a cave north of the city that needs to be dealt with, it’s hunting caravans that travel along that route. Interested?”

[Haschel Cedricson]

Thwick roars like a tiger and cocks his head to the side afterwards, looking at the guard. He screeches like an eagle and cocks his head again. Finally Thwick makes some sort of terrible gibbering sound that nobody in the room can place.

He cocks his head for a third time and raises an eyebrow.

[Dannflor]

"Ahem. What my friend here is trying to say is that we would be happy to take on this ferocious beast for you." Nathaniel retrieves his rapier before drawing himself up in front of the guard, dusting off his overcoat. "I am, of course, well versed in dispatching these sorts of monsters."

"Ah, what kind of beast did you say it was again?"

[Nexus]

"How much are you paying?"

Bramley looks at Thwick for a moment, nonplussed, before turning to Nathaniel.

"The reports aren't clear what kind of beast it is. Some say it's a wolf, some say it's a dog, some say it's possible a worg or a hellhound. I'm sorry I can't be more clear."

Bramley turns Aulric with a smile. "Ah. A wise man to ask about payment. Very well. I am prepared to offer you each a guaranteed 12gp, plus you can keep whatever you find in the cave, preferably if it's not of sentimental value; that we can give to next of kin."

[Haschel Cedricson]

The sound of a growling canine quickly transitions to a whimper as Thwick nods his head and extends a hand to Bramley.

Ashlyn isn't as trusting to this city guard. Why couldn't he gather up some troops to take care of this? But she puts these thoughts aside, after all the silver piece wasn't much payment for this little talent show here.

"Bramly.. how much trouble would it be to throw in an extra Gold Piece, up front and just for me? Premium arrows are pretty expensive y'know, and I'm sure you saw my

stellar

performance onstage."

Bramley turns to the kenku, understanding what he means this time, and shakes his hand. "Perfect. Here is a map to the cave, there's no caravans tonight so feel free to take a rest and tackle this in the morning if you wish."

Ashlyn gets Bramley's attention, and he listens intently. Make a Persuasion check! (1d20 + persuasion modifier)

The elf nods solemnly. He will go, for someone should try to resolve this situation without bringing harm to a creature who may be misunderstood.

Ashlyn is a little disgruntled that she won't be getting any money in advance, but she hides this fact from the others.

Yes, the others! An.. interesting lot they are. She will try to stick with them for a little while. This quest seems like it might lead to some.. interesting treasure.

[Dannflor]

"I think we should head out now. Strike now before anyone else gets hurt."

Nathaniel turns to Ashlyn, "Stick with me and I'll get you that extra gold." With a wink, Nathaniel nearly trips over his own rapier as he walks out the door.

Ashlyn follows the Halfling nonchalantly, wondering what devious plan he might have in store.

"Alright, Net.. Nath.. Nataniel. What was your name again?"

[Jake The Wolfie]

I would like it pointed out now before it comes up later that Ashlyn can be kind of a dick, or even cruel. I'll thematically dampen it out because our party is her friends, but as forewarning that I may lash out at your characters.

it is evening, still a little bit of light out but you know it will be night soon.

Not so fast! I ain't going to no cave without some supplies and a fuller belly.

"It's Nathaniel Silverleaf: Adventurer Extroadinaire!" The halfling shoots a lopsided grin at Ashlyn before realizing that the sun is soon setting.

Balking at the twilight, Nathaniel sheepishly steps back inside. "Er, perhaps it's best we set out at first light tomorrow?"
