Well done, town. Admittedly I had little faith in us after the bad and very frustrating start, but you did it. The scum play was below average, albeit this is a Newbie game so frogs don't beat yourself up too much about it. We all need to remember that mafia is just a one big puzzle game, with people getting angry and frustrated when getting questioned or screened.
A few things I want to address.
Firstly, no, I didn't give up on the game with my self-hammer. I just kept my word, plus it was merelyand it was better to vote myself out for the benefit of town rather to end with a mislim. What I think happened was: MafMen convinced himself so hard that I'm just threatening to do so that they decided to sit out on my wagon as a comfy place to avoid suspicion. Then when I actually did what I said I would he was likea few hours until deadlineoh, shitand pulled out from the game. Andante couldn't save that slot, even if they tried harder than they did. So my self-hammer turned out to be a good thing after all.
Secondly, catboi, with your incessant wagon switches I really wanted to pull my hair out because of how frustrating it was. I felt like you were on the edge of frenzy and even started getting a little bit suspicious of you in the deadthread. But you did well in the end.
Well done to implosion, I would say you did exceptionally well this game.
Finally, I'm happy that I managed to lock the suspect pool with both scums in it. Although, admittedly, Val89 would have been my first choice to vote out after MafMen/Andante flipped scum, I would have gone frogs the following Day anyways. So I still feel like a winner, even though this game made me feel very frustrated.
Val89, I have no hard feelings towards you. All I would ask of you, should we ever be in a game together again, is to be a little more cooperative and less despotic. I can accept that you have a different view of what's good for town and whatnot, but maybe if you tried to convince me, instead of going on the offensive, you would have managed to get me to townread you and this would have been easier for both of us.
Micc, thank you for hosting. I'm actuallyin what you think of this game. If I were hosting N2082, I would be banging my head on the walls every 15 minutes.very interested- implosion

Good game everybody :''D !! I had a good time. We got torn apart by those failed kills, we shoulda went for implosion n1 apparently , but I'm actually pretty happy with how I played. This was in fact my first forum game ever and I rolled scum, so getting to where I did and MafMen and I apparently distancing fairly successfully(?) feels good. The strangematter bait was too perfect a trap.- implosion

I have many thoughts on this game though I already shared a good amount of them when I claimed.
I did do well, though a decent amount of it was down to luck (blocking the n1 kill) and figuring out the right way to exploit things that were put in front of me (mostly the fact that everyone thought SM was the jailkeeper). I was aiming for scum n1 when I jailed catboi, and d2 and the game ultimately going the way it did was down to catboi thoroughly convincing me that what I saw as a soft guilty wasn't enough to act on.
I think it's clear that this game was decided much more by nightplay than by dayplay. The obvious solution in retrospect for scum would have been to outguess me and shoot igor on night one; if that had happened the game would have had no way to follow an arc like this. The wild thing about this game is that we got so much information from igor in spite of him being repeatedly blocked because he outed d1, because of this quirk in the setup where me blocking someone meant they weren't the roleblocker.
frogs and MafMen both played generally quite well during the day, imo; they did a good job of blending in, making townish comments, and letting the town eat itself alive on days one and two. Both of them had some suspicion on them but were able to avoid the sorts of aggressive pushes that characterized much of the game. Part of their problem was that this isn't enough in a game where so many players (catboi, val, arguably Greeting even though he was limmed) are doing things that would be impressive or unexpected as scum on a level beyond just good play.- Greeting

Is it any wonder? They made like four different claims. It's honestly a miracle that the majority of town finally settled on believing one of them.In post 1263, StrangeMatter wrote:I still find it funny how much shade was thrown at our Tracker this game as well. The StrangeMatter bait was just a perfect storm of it being believable, pseudoAristotle not being here to comment on it and SM correctly choosing to keep quiet, me being one of the few people who hadn't been forced to claim (in retrospect literally every town member had claimed at this point except me and SM!!!), and the no-kill n1 meaning it earned us an extra mislim.- Micc

I think Town earned their win here. All the strong Town voices probably made Days 1 and 2 feel disjointed to players, but from my perspective it felt like the consensus reads were always good enough that once the Town stopped talking past each other it would eventually win.In post 1257, Greeting wrote:Micc, thank you for hosting. It would be exceptionally bad, high-risk low-reward scumplay to do this if I were scum. And that's something I was hoping town would understand but they didn't lol.In post 1260, StrangeMatter wrote:Mmm I still don’t disagree with what I thought about Greeting repeatedly saying they’d self hammer as just bluffing. You're correct, once town managed to finally get to a consensus (which happened past my death, unfortunately), the solution of the game was within reach for town.In post 1269, Micc wrote:

It still reads like a bluff no matter how you put it. And repeating it really just added fuel to that flame. In post 1270, Greeting wrote:

I should also add that any intricates of the game based around PR shenanigans go mostly over my head because I am never analyzing that part of the game as a moderator. For example it was completely lost on me that Strangematter was a presumed Jailkeeper and much of the game hinged on it.In post 1269, Micc wrote:I wouldn't say there was any more head banging moments in this game than any other."To hide a tree, use a forest" -Ninja Boy Hideo- frogsfrogs
