I know we've got a decent number of brits here, and so I was wondering what interest would be like in a mini theme I just started, tentatively titled "A Bit of Fry & Mafia."
I can't say much about the setup except that there will be post restrictions involved.

Would anyone be up for 'Mafia Universalis' based off the Europa Universalis series of computer games?

Am I just dumb, or is it not in the mini theme queue?
EDIT: Both, right?

Ooooooh.
No, I just started writing up the setup. Since I figure I should do a mini theme before I do my big one that's already completely written up, I've started writing a few.

Is this still a themed mafia game?
I'm working on a game that has a biased bastard mod. It would also be nightless, with secret daytime powers. All players will be members of one of the scum groups. Instead of being the mod, the person who runs the game is known as the Goddess. All players are allowed to PM the other members of their group at any time during the game, possibly even after they are dead.
The Chosen People
All players are member of one of the tribes. There is more than one tribe. One tribe is the favorite of the Goddess, and she will issue commandments that give them special favor. The Chosen people may not know that they are chosen. One tribe will be known as the "Atheists". Players are encouraged to PM the Goddess during signups if there is a particular name or flavor of tribe they wish to be a member of.
Rather than lynching each other, players in this game stone each other.
The game will end when the Goddess losses interest. This will occur when none of her Chosen People are alive or when they are the only ones left alive. If the end of game is caused by all of the Chosen people dying, then the tribe(s) left with the greatest number of players alive win.

Games with weird mechanics (which yours clearly has) fall squarely under the category of theme game.

I was afraid it wasn't even going to be mafia anymore.

Ah. That's a separate issue.
Do you have an informed minority trying to kill an uninformed majority? From your description, the answer is yes. Therefore, it's mafia.

The Chosen people may not known that they are the Chosen People. The is the possibility that there isn't an uninformed minority. I could PM you with the details, if you wouldn't mind advising me. I would appreciate it.

OK, send it to me by PM.
This has absolutely nothing to do with a scumchat conversation with Glork. NOTHING!

Damn. Now I have to respect you again.

Looking for a co-mod to help raj (he's undecided) and I...
The OMGPHAIL that were the mechanics and disinterest (both mod and players) of Mafia: Survivor I will not be repeated. Scrapping the flaky inHim *kills*. Introducing the non-flaky inHim. Scrapping the hidden votes and separate threads. May or may not be scrapping immunity. Introducing alliances that can be formed and/or changed during the game.
Long-term project... anyone up for it?

Why not just do a mish-mash "survivor" game that's akin in flavor to the show. Two tribes, no-holds-barred, one person gets voted off per "day," immunity challenges could be brain teasers or random things you think up, first player/team to PM the answer gets immunity.

We already have those.
Developing and running to completion a good Survivor: Mafia (the first one doesn't count
) is to us like Lost Boys is to Mr. Flay.

If anyone plays this game at house parties, you should check out this version:
This is the deck we play with and it reduces confusion about which role you are. Especially when you get a few new players.

I have been thinking of doing a Pulp Fiction based Mini Theme once my current Mini Normal is finished. Would this work as a good idea, and has it been done before (I would think so, but I can't seem to find a record of that).

What is a smalltown setup? I thought someone else was working on a Heroes setup, but I can't remember who.
i am also auto-/in for any Heroes theme game. I so want to be Angela (Big Bad Momma) Petrelli!

Smalltown and
Smalltown: Scrubs.
The premise is simple. The entire setup, even role distribution, is open. Mafia and SK are randomly chosen.

A smalltown setup is one where everyone's role names and powers are out in the open from the beginning, but not their alignments. You have a pool of twelve known roles, and three are selected at random to be mafia and one to be the SK.
Before I forget- Freedom Force Mafia anyone?

So Smalltown is just the same as Split Motive/Role, but Open? Weird name... I would have figured it was one of those 5-player variations.
