tl;dr people take this game entirely too seriously and the second I stopped caring so much was the second I started enjoying it more.

Yeah, um, ranked is for being serious. Don't play it with your friends unless you're like Fate/Nuwen and you can read each other's minds and both of you never rage because it can make good friends mad at each other. The attitude can get toxic; I've seen it happen and there are plenty of stories. This is also why I prefer solo queue. Duo'ing is ok, but as soon as one of you guys notice someone is arguing with the other or blaming him over this game, it's time to call it quits because a friendship isn't worth it.

Also, I can't take a normal game seriously for my life anymore. Everytime someone in a normal starts raging, it just seems hilarious. ARAM's are another thing entirely.

Hito, if you start ranked when you are higher then 1300 and are gaining 20-50 a game, then you get out easy. If you aren't that great when you start and are getting 10 for a win and losing 15 for a loss, it makes it much much harder to break out. Has nothing to do with attitude. Has to do with that it takes me 20 games straight to go from 1100 to 1300 and takes me 13 games to go from 1300-1100. I have to win a game and a half for every game I lose just to break even. Most people that break out do it right when they start cause they waited to play/got lucky in placements or do it at the beginning of a season.

@KoC, k you won a 4v5, do you want a high five? Join the fucking club. Every game I play is a 1v9. TBH, There's a large portion of my games I wish I had and afk. I probably would of had a better shot.

I've experienced the same thing, Panzer. I win and I get a paltry +11, I lose and I get docked 14-15 elo.

I know some of it has to do with your elo in comparison to the rest of the players, and I've been told duo queueing makes you win less and lose more, but it seems to be a pretty consistent trend for me, too.

I stopped playing ranked after I lost 25 elo in a 21 minute surrender game. That was pretty much the last straw as far as I was concerned.

I have no idea how the elo system that Riot have set up works, and it clearly does work for some, possibly even most people, but losing more elo in 1 short game where we were badly overmatched than I made in 2 games, one of which actually took 50 minutes and was really close is enough to make anyone throw their keyboard down in disgust.

Also panzer hate to break it to you but I'm higher elo than you from mainly going support due to quite largely the fact that I don't yell at my teammates (you also win more often with me because of the fact I tell you to chill the fuck out when you get mad, meaning morale stays high, it's not that my being 1301 elo instead of 1290 is a big deal).

@brandi: there are some pretty decent mics ut there you can get for pretty cheap until you can save and get one that doesn't pick up everything in the surrounding area and let everyone in the call hear it lol.

Well LLD is teaching me this game. So far I absolutely refuse to take it seriously, far less seriously than SMNC or pretty much any other game, mostly because my teammates are all derpfaces (NO REALLY). Newbie queue is loltastic compared to what you guys are describing. I mean so far I've seen things even I know are wrong:

2 top, 2 mid, me solo bottom (OKAY)

The Chinese Guy Incident - LLD can tell you more about this, but basically it was the least deserved win in the history of humankind. We had derpteam that kept getting owned (me and LLD were like the only people not negative, and I was only not negative because I'm Morgana and I think you can't actually gank Morgana. At least not easily). Finally they formed a roaming ball of evil that would go about killing things because they were starting to hit 14-15 (We were all like 12-14). LLD was like "come center!" Two of the derps were like "no we're pushing bottom." I was torn between going center with the sane people who might relocate, or staying bottom with the losers who won't, but if we all come bot at least we have 5 for the teamfight. While we were working that out, a roaming band of TRexes ambushes LLD and her partner, and eats them. I start falling back ASAP, the other two are like "yeah, we're probably fine pushing this tower."

Well they anticipated me falling back, and came out that way. Dead. The two pushing the tower are like "yeah, we're good." Aced.

Somehow after that we managed to lose zero inhibitors, while they lost two (they teamed up way too soon IMHO and let a lot of their towers die). But basically they did nothing with their ace. LLD was like "Okay, CHARGE CENTER!" And we lolcharged and lolwon because they were derps (Oh is morgana channeling her ult with 3 targets? Better have everyone on our team use their stuns on her. Hmmm, wonder if there's an Hourglass shaped reason our stuns aren't working. Oh dear...)

Then there was the time I decided to try out Ryze (I think he's actually just horrible) and we managed to lose to bots.

Then there was the time I decided to try out Ryze (I think he's actually just horrible) and we managed to lose to bots.

Ryze is a spellcasting monstrosity. His early game is a bit weak, but come mid game Ryze turns into a ferocious murdering machine.

Ryze has short ranges, low base damages but makes up for it by having amazing scaling, multiplictive cool down reduction and the ability to build extremely tanky (items like Rod of Ages, Abyssal Scepter, Frozen Heart, Banshee's Veil, Haunting Guise). So he eventually reaches the point where he walks into the enemy team spamming spells putting out more constant rather then burst damage (which makes him need to be focused down) while being one of the toughest heroes on his team.

Oh, well I'm probably guilty of horribly misplaying him!

But basically the early game was where I was good. I managed to poke a bot to death twice in mid, then it started to fall apart.

In fairness I'm fucking balls at last hitting so I get gold at like half the rate I should. Pretty sure last hitting is a fucking awful mechanic, but so be it.

So far I've tried Miss Fortune (didn't like, her Ult feels kinda weak, and she's just meh. Not terrible, but boring to play), Morgana (I may buy her, she's utterly hax at all things), Sivir (Amazing hero, the Q is beastly, the E is beastly, and her ultimate is insane. I think W is horribad, but such is life), and Ryze (I can't play him! He's nothing like Morgana at all ). Oh and some ice bird thing I took top and sucked at, but he's a 'practice makes perfect' thing and I didn't have any practice (I was reliably hitting Qs, but Ice wall was lol)
