Flat CDR+level18 blue+masteries=40% cdr without any cdr items. Scaling gives a very minimal bonus when blue buff is down from levels 14-18 and that's it. If you're desperate to cap cdr during that period, blue pot is always available.

Actually, I use HP quints on most of my support champs so that I don't get two-shot when people try to focus me out of a fight. Sona is incredibly hard to kill when she has 126 extra HP. =P

I'd take that early survivability over 720 gold for the game any day.

The Avarice Quint is garbage. Even if you just want to buy wards with them, you aren't actually making enough money.

The amount of Health you get from a Fortitude quint may not seem like much, but it can give you the edge.

IMO: A very viable choice on any Melee Character would be the Movespeed Quints (Swiftness I think it's called). The faster you can close with those pesky squishy characters, the faster you can tear them a new one. 1.5% per rune Doesn't seem like much, but the speed boost allows you to catch up/get away easily.

Scaling vs Flat Runes: I've always had a bone to pick with the main ideas of the argument. Early game, any runed boost is quite significant. +10 damage is a free longsword at level one, where the enemies have less armour. +10 Armour (on the average base armour of ~30), is going to give better reduction than +20 late game, where even squishies tend to have ~100+without items.

You can have small bonuss now, where everyone has little, or slightly bigger boost later, where items outstrip their effectiveness.

*cdr is the exception, as it scales VERY well into late game. I can use my more powerful spells more often, as opposed to early levels where I had to wait for mana and play conservative.

Pen and Defense runes are another tricky issue. You have to understand how the Armour/MR system works to appreciate their full value. Every point in Armour/MR, increases your **effective health** by 1%. Early game: I has 500 Health. Whee. 30 Amour/MR means I have 500+[500*0.3] = 650, which means it takes 650 damage to kill me.

Late Game: I has 2500 Health and 200 Armour/MR. I have 2500+[2500*2.0] = 7500, which means it takes a metric fuckton of damage to kill me.

So both the defense runes, which scale with health, and pen runes, which scale against effective health, are more effective late game than early. Lets assume you have a flat 20 pen.

Early Game: 500+[500*(0.3-0.2)] = 550. You just stripped 100 **Effective Health** from the enemy.

Late Game: 2500 + [2500*(2.0-0.2)] = 7000. You just stripped 500 **Effective Health** from the enemy.

So while that +10 damage early game helped you hit like a truck, you still wouldn't be dealing the exta 100 EH in just a few attacks.
Late game, that +10 damage is puny, considering any AD based character should be buying items like Infinity Edge (+80), or Bloodthirster (+60-100). +10 is a pinprick, and certainly doesn't help much for that extra 500 EH you have to hit through.

First impressions of Leona?

She seems to play like Jarvan 2.0, favoring a sheen and some gold/5 into a trinity or pure tank based on how many assists she's racking up. She can solo top like jarvan (farm up a triforce) or babysit bot like shen. She can jungle with mpen and armor runes, but needs to roam very successfully with her first red and prioritize gold/5 before her jungle begins to level up beyond her high base damage clear time. Even her first clear is almost too slow to be viable (~4:50-5:10 level 4, as slow as WW with none of the safety)

As a roamer, she's horrifying in the early game on the level of flashcow pre-nerfs. She should never, ever be trying to clear jungle creeps when a lane is even moderately exposed. Her flash combo brings a devastating amount of cc into a lane and her gap-closer outdistances enemy flashes. Her low CD gap closer and red buff can force flashes in three lanes within a ~30-45 second window, making her even nastier with a bot lane roamer like Poppy.

You need 9 points in the offense tree for spen if you play Leona. Don't try 21 defense.

Double rainbow~~~ roamer comp I want to try against teams with a blue-dependent jungler: Poppy/1v2 bruiserfarmer (Croc, Irelia) bot, strong AD mid (Cait, Vayne), akali/swain/vlad top, Leona starter jungler into roam with Poppy.

Bot bruiser is focused on farming and preventing tower damage bot while Poppy and Leona bounce between bot and mid and blue. Top farms as hard as possible without pushing. Early dragons are taken on the back of the abusive amount of map control two roamers (oracles Leona) bring to the table.

The goal of this comp is to hyperfarm the three laners while putting
holy shit fuck fear
into the enemy jungler, mid, and bot. Poppy can run TP instead of exhaust as her second summoner to add some top map presence. Enemy farmers are stuck denying themselves or risk being killed any time their flash is on CD. Bot lane is constant bait to 3v2 action, segueing into excellent dragon control.

Pure dives mid and top can occur as early as level 6, a'la roaming cow.

Midgame transitions into a massacre of underfarmed carries - depending on how pressured enemy top was, it should be the only char even close to the gold average of your own team. You have the ultimate gap initiating power between Leona and Poppy (who should have racked up $$$ by now). Akali just makes slaughtering that vulnerable squishy line even easier (Vlad and Swain alternates are chunky enough to be alone on the front line while their peelers are neck-deep in the enemy team). They won't have defensive items if you roamed effectively; they probably can't even afford their primary midgame item yet.

I jungle leona like 1-21-8. It's just steady work(start with regrowth+pot @wraiths/do golems after back buy two pots.), I wish our bot lane wasnt so fucking retarded that game. if you stick to jungling whenever possible you'll be at level 6 at ~9 minutes.

In other news: I have no idea why my computer randomly makes every picture I save black and white. It's probably similar to how it stupidly makes League really dark.
