I agree in principal but the one element that I want to address with this is the inherent "1-shot" nature of the powers (with the exception of powers like WhiteMage which lasts 2 Nights). The very nature of sacrificing letters (and thus abilities to make future combinations easily) still places the game in a position that is much closer to Mountainous than a traditional set-up IMO. Adding more viable letters and more combinations might make it necessary to adjust the total Letter distribution somewhat (I think COP for example might be too easy to make if blanks are added) but oveall I think making combos easy to make probably would be the way to go. The scum Nightkill happens regardless so Town needs some counter-balance for that. Hell .. just make the scum making the Nightkill have to use up one letter of their choice to do so if you think that would be a nice balance.
