Mini 1545: Teen Wolf Season 1 Mafia (GAME OVER!!!)

As far as gameplay goes this game, I thought town was going to steamroll after the SK lynch day 1. Taking that extra NK out before it had a chance to shoot was pretty clutch, and I thought it would be easy from there.

Boy was I wrong.

Basically, town got fucked over by reliance on PRs and reactions to PRs instead of old-fashioned scum hunting. Both protective PRs outing themselves put town from an overwhelmingly strong position to an overwhelmingly weak one, especially since the JK-"guilty" is marginal at best. This is especially true after the SK flip, which should have strongly implied at least 2 ways for town to avoid kills. Scum were playing reasonably well too, up until Titus claimed miller, since I've pretty publicly stated that I think millers are terrible roles that shouldn't exist. From there, the cop-guilty on jiffy was a kind of dumb move; Rach, Espe, and Mhork would have all been more believable, and the fallout from that gambit cost scum the game.

As far as setup goes, it was 9:3:1 with the power being Doc/JK/Tracker/IC:1-shot Strongwoman/RB:1-shot BP. There were two objectives that I had in designing this setup:

1) The setup had to have an SK, because flavor.
2) I wanted the setup to, despite the SK, still emphasize strong day play.

The first point just required me to make sure town had a metric fuckton of power. The extra NK hurts the town a lot more than it hurts the scum team, so I had to balance around that. With the second point, I knew that giving town 2 defensive PRs of any kind was minimally required, and with this goal I decided to go pretty full-out in giving town defensive options (Compare this to AP's game, where town got a 1-shot commuter, a RB, and a JK to dodge kills). I also made the investigative PR one that would potentially get a lot of unreliable results, and the IC was added to give town a bit less pressure during the day phase. In retrospect, town was probably a little overpowered, and I think that if I were to go back and design the setup again, I would make Kate a JOAT with a 1-shot Rolecop as well.

Overall, I think this was a decent game, early activity issues notwithstanding. I'm considering changing my activity rules; I had to send out a lot of prods this game, so maybe I should slow down my rotation? I'm afraid that would kill activity further, since my games are 2/2 in terms of being lurkfests early.

That was a roller coaster ride of a game. With a tracker-IC, I don't know that I'd have gone with the cop result at MyLo, especially with BRO's miller-cop opinions being on record. (I felt it would have been dirty pool to point those out to the game thread...)

Being an IC was interesting. We probably played it too conservative, but I think my favorite part of the game was where Titus warned us about people who would kiss up to us as confirmed town...and then complimented our playing of the role.

We didn't think that; I told him that his flavor (Sheriff Stilinski) fit with investigative, but to be careful of another nerfed investigative role in the set-up. It was intended as a "here's info about your massclaim options"-type information.

Voided really lost his temper when we were scum budz and dealing with this dude who was really bad about not helping the town and clinging to his status as confirmed town.
