No need to contact that farm, I'm sending you one over now. It's terrified of cats though which might pose a problem.

might be overthinking this but if it was 50 maybe she'd put master ball as the clue, maybe it's 40-45.

...I can't tell if this is ingenious or makes no sense.

My initial thought was to take it more literally. Ultra balls are completely round except for the button in the middle, so I was thinking ~10.

I thought the same thing initially but you're looking at the whole scale, 0-50 would mean from less round to more round.

And finally, what you've all been waiting for:
Spoiler: Open if you dare
It was a similar case with this one as well. If you consider the whole scale then 0 should be a movie like The dark knight(best movie ever) and 100 should be the worst movie ever. But that's not how the whole scale was interpreted, it was 0-50, 50 being the best movie. If you get what I mean.

I don't think that's how people have been playing the game though? As far as I can tell, pops would put the Sun at 0, and a floor tile/still water (can't think of anything flatter right now) as 100.

Left is rounder. Right is flatter.

Oh, are you saying something that's round but not flat would be closer to 0, like a mace head. But something that's BOTH round and flat should be close to 50?

ALSO, what if pops was talking about one of these fancy ultra balls:

Spoiler:

Maybe we should go for 90 then.

Nah I'm saying that don't look at the scale as a whole. Look at it as two parts, 0-50 and 51-100 of two different things.

Do you have reason to believe pops would view it like this though? Her earlier posts indicate she's been viewing it as a 1-100 scale and not splitting it into 50s and differentiating each half like that.

Yes, the first round.

It was 0(good movie)-100(bad movie), and everyone interpreted it the same way. They went for 35, which if you look at the whole scale makes less sense.

Knightmare, have you read this? I think it's pretty well explained here:

Spoiler: Here's an example
I send the Psychic a card that says "Hot | Cold" and the below wavelength spectrum:
Image

Now the Psychic has to think of something that is on the hot/cold spectrum that would put their team's guess close to where the 4 is on the spectrum. Hot is on the left side of the card, so Hot is represented by the left end of the spectrum; and Cold is on the right side of the card, so Cold is represented by the right end of the spectrum. The target is the gray area with the 4 on it, so here it is about 74-79 on the scale of 0 to 100. The Psychic might say "ice water" as their clue, something that's pretty cold but not the coldest. I publicly show the team the Hot/Cold card and the Psychic's clue, "ice water." They do not see the spectrum. Now their team discusses where they think "ice water" lands on the scale of 0 to 100. Let's say they guess it's at 70. Once they lock in their answer, I ask the opposing team to guess whether they think the true target is further to the left (hotter) or further to the right (colder) than the original team's guess. Let's say they think it's further to the right. The original team gains 3 points for guessing 70 based on the spectrum areas, and the opposing team gains 1 point for guessing correctly that the true target was further to the right. If the team had guessed 60 instead, they would have received 0 points, while the opposing team would still have gained 1 point for guessing left/right correctly. And if the original team had guessed 75, they would have received 4 points (and the opposing team also would not have gained 1 point for left/right).
It's a continuous spectrum basically; the game is to rank random things on a scale of 1-100 where 1 and 100 are extremities

But yeah, they did think Avatar was 35 which is a 6.5/10. Would you agree?

For this round, I'm also thinking a 10 I think, ultra balls are pretty round

But then there are the flat strips and ultra implies "extreme". Why didn't pops chose a pokeball?

Because ultra balls are cooler, obviously.

Actually, if you look really closely at them, the stripes are very slightly indented, which make the ball less perfectly round than I thought. However, that doesn't make them "flatter" either. I think by having the button/indent, it retains its roundness while not being perfectly flat.

Maybe we go for 15-20? 15.

Posted: Thu Apr 30, 2020 2:48 am
by Hectic
Well, not all of them have the indents on Google images, and there's no guarantee pops considered them. Let's just play it "safe".

Guess: 10
Lynch me next if this flips town.

Pretty sure they nailed it. If we speak about Pokemon, Ultra Ball is round but with some kind of decorations, though.

But why won't they just go ball or sphere if it's THAT round?

Anyway it's pretty safe to go right, right?

Without further ado: the WAVELENGTH SPECTRUM!

Card:
RoundFlat

Clue: Ultra Ball

Spoiler: drum roll please...
Image

Team Headgear Psychics’ guess of
10
scores them 4 points....

Which also shuts down Team IMAGINATION’s chance to score a Left/Right point! Team Headgear Psychics takes the lead!

Current standing:

Team IMAGINATION:
3 points
Ariel
northsidegal
Tatsuya Kaname (Current Psychic)
Something_Smart
Annadog40
Felissan

Team Headgear Psychics:
6 points
Kanna
popsofctown
Knightmare491 (Next Psychic)
Hectic
NotAJumbleOfNumbers

Now sending Tatsuya Kaname their card and spectrum.

P.S. I'm debating making this a free-for-all game instead, where we rotate who is Psychic and everyone else scores points based on their individual guess + some bonus for guessing earlier. The Psychic would also score points based on how many people guessed within the range. Thoughts?

I like the team mechanic, makes it more competitive. Also, GO TEAM!

A free-for-all would almost entirely remove the communication in the thread, and half the fun along with it. So I'm in favor of keeping teams too.

Team IMAGINATION is now up! Here's your card:

TallWide

And the clue that your Psychic, Tatsuya Kaname, provided is:
The Atlantic Ocean
.

Your team has (expired on 2020-05-05 11:29:47) to guess where the target is. It’s now up to you to discuss and determine where
the Atlantic Ocean
is on the spectrum from 0 to 100. 0 represents “Tall” and 100 represents “Wide.”

Remember to provide your final answer in this format:
Guess: X
where X is between 0 and 100.
