By the way, I honestly think that was the worst played game of mafia I've ever been in. I'm not sure anyone, myself included, played well.
Also, ZZ, if you're going to mod a speed game, please try to have more frequent votecounts. Day 1 was all right, but day 2 you didn't have any VCs in the middle of the day at all. In addition, the 100 post maximum is, IMO, a terrible rule, because it stifles discussion.
Sorry if this seems like sore loserness, because I honestly don't care that we lost. I just thought the game wasn't played well.jdodge1019: hasjghsalghsakljghs is from vermont

I wouldn't say it's the worst game I've ever played, but I had no idea what was going on - maybe it's because I'm not as much a part of the MS community as others are? But the names included with our roles, and the overall storyline, made no sense whatsoever to me. Was there some significance to the names being tied in to village or scum, or was it random? And I still don't understand the pirate part of it at all.- strife220

Yea, that's right. A Pirate. From Texas.
The game had an interesting premise, but I think the rules made it too easily breakable for town. I think completely random-lynching with only posting once every 3 days would have basically guaranteed scum would never have made majority.
I liked how the hydras worked out, though it's a little bit frustrating to see two members have opposing opinions.
I don't think the 100 post maximum was an issue what-so-ever, basically just in place to prevent scum from spamming out kills. The issue was the 250posts for a scum-kill - not posting frequently was an incredibly strong strategyLimited access, Aug 29 - Sept 3- strife220

This too. I think zz underestimated the ability of players to write a large amount in only a few pages. How many pages is 250 posts anyways? 10?strife220 wrote:The issue was the 250posts for a scum-kill - not posting frequently was an incredibly strong strategyjdodge1019: hasjghsalghsakljghs is from vermont

The role flavor, as it always will be in an xyzzy-modded game, had nothing to do with the game itself.
Coincedentally, the pirate came from a game that was run several years ago, that was Texas-themed. The pirate was a one-shot vig in that game. Since that role largely broke the "assume that anything that makes sense for the theme is true" (along with, in large part, Space Monkeys), I decided to include it.
I was extremely surprised that StrangerCoug didn't use up his posts - if he'd gone over his limit, the scum would essentially get a free townie lynch, and the scum would've been much closer to a kill.
Maybe someday people will learn that my flavor has no impact on the game >: /- armlx

Interesting set up but quite nearly impossible for the mafia to win. Maybe 9:3?ShowGames - 31
Town - Win=9, Loss=10
Mafia - Win=5, Loss=4
Abondoned = 3

I played Day 1 and I think part of Day 2 thinking I was town and didn't realize I was scum until Green Cow PM'd me. I tried to be very conservative with my posts since it would be obvious that I was scum if I did, but apparently that didn't work.xyzzy wrote:I was extremely surprised that StrangerCoug didn't use up his posts - if he'd gone over his limit, the scum would essentially get a free townie lynch, and the scum would've been much closer to a kill.
We didn't even get a chance to kill anybody

Lol, fun game. It was indeed a quickie, as I expected when I signed up, but it started too late to end before I´d go V/LA. The hydra thing was interesting, but I actually I didn´t like all the posting rules, I played to see if I would like it. Still didn´t read the part after Stranger´s lynch though...Leaving mafiascum temporarily or not due to circumstances- muffinhead
