I only take this much issue with gut reads when I think that they're scummy and I think that there's a certain kind of defensiveness in your response to me that makes me think that you're even more scummy.

I think reads off tone are a more player-specific thing than AI thing. It's the way they arrive at that read that's AI.

In this case, Lady 4 came into a game state where most people were skeptical about Lady 5, and that kind of going-against-consensus even though the player clearly cares about being conciliatory strikes me a more likely townie read.

This is, like, an extremely common thing for scum to do?

@Lady 2: I would suggest that most reading will happen best under scrutiny and threat of suicide.

Also phase 1 is entirely about working out if any of the Lady's are scum and who it is. But I am happy to gamble on it and move straight to dancing.

If you'd like me to go against the consensus some more, I can let you know that I am not townreading Lady 7.

If anything, I would say that having a random townread on a player who hasn't really done much and who general consensus points to being below average is a scumtell for that player.
I say that even though I also townread that player, but I wouldn't really be able to put a lot of words to it and I certainly wouldn't give those specific words. I'd just say meh I think that they're town.

You've done a poor job of explaining what is scummy about it.

And no. There's plenty of cases that are falsifiable. You can say that someone pushed a bunch of town, that someone took a bunch of stances no one took before, whatever.
I would even take Lady 4 simply saying that it was a gut townread as better because I also had a gut townread there. It's the fact that they felt the need to go beyond saying that but to still say nothing that bothers me.

That's a good point, and I agree in a vacuum. I'm not sure I read her posts as "having a random townread" though.

If on Windows, download & open in Paint, Image -> Resize, keep aspect ratio and make it so width is <= 120 and height is <= 100.
