I was thinking about this yesterday, and I don't see where the Darkness levels being known helps scum more than Town. I think it'd help to keep scum a little more honest. If they lied about their Darkness levels, well, it might spell the end for them. Scum probably have the *default* level of Darkness anyway.
The only way I see it helping scum is if they need to add their Darkness together to NK someone, then it might help them know the easiest slot to try to NK.
pedit I'm asking them their opinion of what they think should happen. Aside from not accruing any Darkness. I'm not exactly Town reading them ATM.

Yeah I don't really see any harm in claiming darkness. I assume that scum still gain darkness through ticks/votes so they probably know approximately how much darkness everyone has anyway, apart from any town influences like WP's ability thing.

It's more that there's no discernible benefit to claiming darkness.

It can help us figure out how the darkness mechanics work to an extent. But that's about it.

Huh, our darkness went down so i assumed shadowcat targeted us, Thorki is scum, Gaiden is town @Anxiety.

yeah, i don't get it either. this implies that somehow you got 60% darkness between nights 1 and 2. Did you only gain darkness n2?

The first three slots I asked were my Town reads and I wanted them to state their biggest scum reads, and I threw T&L in to see what they'd say too. I would have listened to anyone else's thoughts too, if they'd been given a chance to voice them.
I doubt scum had anything to do with it either. I'd be interested why you think ZZZX is Town being attacked, though. He hasn't impressed me as Town ZZZX yet.

pretty much this.
In mechanic heavy theme games it pays to be cautious with info cause you don't know how scum interact with the mechanics. Like you can always claim stuff before lylo and try to catch scum then, that option never goes away; but as soon as you reveal something there is no going back.
(I was shaking my head reading about the flavor claims. If scum get a benefit from knowing/getting-rid-of certain characters, welp too late now.)
the longer either of thorki take to show up the more I'm feeling like you're right here.
I'll give it something like 12 hours to see if there's any miracle town moment from them.
But for gaiden you'll have to explain like I'm two years old

Thorki said something happens when they reach 70%. Although ZZZX getting that exact number is a bit strange.
