I am now a Gold V.
I started with 0-2, but ended up pulling back for a 3-2 series. I have a screenshot, but photobucket isn't working right now so I'll post it later.

He's definitely banned more often than he should be, particularly because Thresh is a better version of him. In general, though, he's banned a lot in low-Elo because that hook changes games. If you miss your first 9 hooks, then land 1, you might very well win lane off that hook. If your team is down 10k+ gold in the teamfighting phase, you land a hook and get an easy 4v5 teamfight win. On the other hand, if you don't ever change the game with your hook, you're not really doing much.

His ratios are also actually ridiculous. But its mostly the dynamic of the hook changing how you have to play against him during the laning phase(when compared to the majority of adc + support bot lanes).

re: gold, congrats Ank, playing through the leagues is still a pretty big deal imo, especially if you have to go through half a division or more. So jelly!
re: Blitzcrank, high risk/high reward. Most risk-free initiation and playmaking in the business, and second only to Alistar in "teammates who can royally screw you over". Ever have a Blitz pull a Leona or something over the wall at 50 min? Game over, baby. For a long time he was untouched by pros because he's a riverboat gambler and most pros like perfectly precise careful plays, but he pops up every now and then in tournaments. Blitz will always be super, super strong in low-mid elo because he can instantly punish and kill people who are out of position, and everyone is out of position all the time. Thresh has a similar mechanic and Leona has more durability and cc control, but nobody else comes close to the insta-hook and good ol' fashioned stunfucking that BC offers to someone straying a bit too far into the danger zone.
re: this whole Darius thing, I guess we have to agree to disagree for now
It's how I play toplane and it seems to work decently well for me, I am not good but in ranked situations it's way more important not to lose hard than gamble for the big win and come up short before teamfights start. Just wanted to try and theorycraft with anyone else struggling in top or having trouble memorizing the abilities. Unfortunately I can't point to any stats that hold my theory up because he's my backup jungler so my stats are skewed for top, so I guess it's conjecture and I'll drop it.

I don't think I'd say "if Taric isn't banned, leave or feed," but he is fucking ridiculously strong right now. Superbroken.

Thresh has been shitting on bot lane, every game I'm in. Taric? Win some, lose some.

Thresh is also really strong. Thresh's box has a more immediate impact on teamfights because of the fucking ridiculous CC it provides; Taric does burst damage and stuns one guy, and will probably get a heal off on someone that might be kind of helpful. Typical support-taric build is Aura Whore, which makes him much stronger in a defensive fight than an offensive one. Thresh's ult makes him good either way.
What makes Taric so ridiculous right now is the ability to build him differently than straight support. Toplane taric build (detailed by TehBrawlGuy earlier) makes him a fucking terror in teamfights, purely because AOE damage out the ass, plus a stupidly good heal, plus the ability to lock down a carry with his stun.

During lane phase, I'd say Thresh vs. Taric directly, Thresh wins, but Taric is awful strong against a LOT of lanes.

Taric is strong because he can't miss.
Click stun, click shatter, click ult. "No skillshot, huge advantage."
The only way you can make a mistake as Taric is making a bad engage (tactical mistake), it is not possible to make a mechanical mistake. Any time you personally decide to engage as Taric you are 100% going to get all 3 of your moves off unless you are hard cc'd. Compare this to Thresh who has a legit chance to miss everything he's got and drop the box behind the fight. Sure you don't INTEND to cock everything up, but as Taric, you actually can't do that. Best bet against Taric is taking range and putting it on him, and that works just fine. Lulu plays very very well against Taric, and only has one skillshot, which is honestly pretty hard to miss during an engage.

Yeah, Taric getting polymorphed makes Taric a very sad person.

Can you still poly Malph during his ult?

No, you get a "Cannot be Disabled" message for anything trying to stop Malph's ult once it's cast.

it's the other way around, I think
move to polymorph the opponent ad, shield your ad, watch your ad wreck theirs, while taric stands and watches after having done his thing and reduced your ad's resistances... who subsequentaly isn't taking serious damage.
Same thing with janna. Each time taric stuns, throw the tornado asap in the other ad's face, shield your ad, win the trade by default (punish with slow if you win hard)

It's not much, but I'm pretty proud of this game. Also, I'm close to qualifying for a promotion.
I feel like assuming I'm ranked where I'm supposed to be and then being pleasantly surprised when I do well but "meh, whatever" when I don't works out well for me. <_<

Are there really Sorakas who don't go Infuse-first? (maaaybe Starfall)

I typically go heal-first, but I haven't played Soraka in a long time.
