Whats the point? When you see that I was town youll call me scum mvp or something for "scumreading masons" or whatever
You lack the ability to see things from my pov (or anyone's)

And that's why I am good at scumhunting. in all the games I listed, I caught scum by refusing to listen to the POVs of players I scumread.

So tell me, why the hell should I listen to what the players I am scumreading have to say?

Thats not how one scumhunts however
You should consider the other player's POV and decide if their motivations are coming from a town or scum mindset
Just pointing at someone, calling them scum, and refusing to consider anything else from that point is just tunneling and will net you scun only if you are lucky

Because you might be wrong and they might be town

That's rich, coming from you.

This is also rich coming from you, considering you tunneled players who you thought were scum in Symphonic Metal mafia and refuse to back down even when the rest of us argued that they could be town, which is why the town lost.
So, based on what you just said, you were a bad scumhunter even back then, so don't you dare lecture me.
That's a method that worked for me in all three games, so too bad.

I have told you this again. I might seem like I believe I know everything but this is only make-belief. Making scum believe youre absolutely certain they are scum can net you stronger reactions than just being slightly suspect of them. Of course thats a matter of playstyle and knowing what youre doing.
The point is, yes, I am a notorious tunneler, but I have worked on it over the years and I am at a point where I can often recognise bad tunnels and reconsider. And I do that by doing what I told you to do, constantly look from people's pov and see what motivations make sebse.

Well, my playstyle caught me scum thrice, so I am not gonna change it just because you say so.

You say you know me, but all you know of me is from a period where I never caught scum. That's changed, and I now can actually catch scum.

and you refuse to read games from a period where I did catch scum, so whatever you know about my playstyle is outdated.

Well okay. I am once again trying to help you here, like I did in Symphonic Metal and like I did in mostly every game with you, because I believe in trying to help someone before ruling them out as stupid. But once again you refuse to listen to anything I say so its a waste of time.

And speaking of looking from other people's POVs, why aren't you looking at things from mine or even considering that we are actually masons?

Nico if you had changed you wouldnt scumread people for something so shallow as daring to question your mason claim
Nor would that be the only thing in the game you cared about and based your reads on

In 1936, I scumread a player for exactly this, and they flipped scum, so whatcha say?

That you were probably lucky
I have yet to see you scumread scum for a legit reason in any game

Well, a certain someone once said that luck is a part of skill. I fully believe in that.
You want me to consider you as town? Fine, then answer this: what is your town motivation for scumreading a mason?
Posted: Sat May 05, 2018 12:32 am
by NicoRobin
cos as far as I am concerned, there is none, which is why my scumreads are what they are.

and the fact you are calling me stupid and naive and easily pocketed rather that seeing things from my POV is doing you no favors.

In another game, I killed off the scum who tried to pocket me using the fact they were my bodyguard, so I am not that naive, thank you very much.

Alrighg, here's the whole process:
I see you claiming masons with mastina.
There are three possibilities:
a) You are town telling the truth.
b) You are town, thinking mastina is town for whatever reason, so you fakeclaim to protect them.
c) You are scum fakeclaiming.
I think which of these is most likely (from
your
) pov)
C is not very likely because youd have no reason to do it and link yourself to your buddy. If mastina is not your buddy, she will just deny the claim and you'll be in trouble. There are advanced cases where scum might gambit fakeclaiming masons with a townie but I dont consider you a scum player of that caliber so, unlikely.
So we are between A and B. B is within what I expect from you as town. Based on past experiences with you it will not amaze me if you claim masons with mastina because she told you to in a neighborhood, because you think she is fun to play with and don't want her lynched, or even because someone you dislike (me) voted her! So this scenario looks probable enough to me to consider it and not take the mason claim at face value.
So basically what I do now is try to read mastina through my means, completely disregarding the mason claim. Do I find her posts scummy? Then I scumread her, and the mason claim is irrelevant because scenario C is a possibility. If mastina later becomes more towny, then I will townread her. Basically, the mason claims becomes irrelevant in me sorting mastina.
And there we have it, me, as town, scumreading mastina despite your mason claim.
I want to note here, again, that this is not current and I am not scumreading or wanting to lynch mastina anymore.
