Hi, I'm back. I thank Haylen for waiting for me, and CSL... well, there is a reason he has stopped playing.
With one problem I'm here now, is that while the theory that if phate is scum, he is most likely with CSL, I was completely wrong about him. But I would like to make this step now, and not in the next round:
vote PhateI don't doubt Evil will get lynched, but this is going to be a hard decision. Phate must be scum.Surrender, imagine and of course wear something nice.- evilsnail

I'm ticked off at CSL for that stunt. I said right at the start of Day 1 I had a town read on him. There was absolutely no way I would have hammered him.
As for the scums, I was spot on Day 6:
It's myko and Phate. Interesting to see myko going after Phate, though, considering how much he pushed for my lynch yesterday. My guess is distancing because he's worried he's today's lynch.evilsnail wrote:FYI, I just posted that right after I saw the NK without thinking and then started reading ISOs to see how it affects my reads. I'm pretty sure now it's you and Phate. I have a probably solid town read on CSL. I'll plan to go into more detail about this when I have more time (should be soon).

Snail, you read my posts very selectively. As in, you have only read my vote.evilsnail wrote:I'm ticked off at CSL for that stunt. I said right at the start of Day 1 I had a town read on him. There was absolutely no way I would have hammered him.

Further, you pull the "I'm consistent and town" argument, again.
And "interesting"? Why say it in such a roundabout way? On this moment you should be convinced I am scum. But what do you do? you try to subjectively get the confirmed townies on your side.
For who didn't understand my previous post, I think it is quite obvious Evil is scum, but discussion must focus on his scumbuddy. Rushing an evil-lynch could lose us the game.Surrender, imagine and of course wear something nice.- evilsnail

I have no idea what you're talking about myko. I'm not pulling any argument or subjectively getting anyone to do anything. I gave my opinion on the matter and cast my vote.
And I totally don't get your stance on me. It's obvious I'm scum so we better not lynch me? WTH? If you truly think I'm scum, isn't it superdangerous to lynch you or Phate first?- mykonian

Why is it "interesting". And not "scummy"? Or, "a strong point against myko is:"
Or in other words: why aren't you just making the point, in stead of subjectively putting this?
And the word: discuss: I'm saying what direction that discussion should take, my vote is there.
And in case we lynch phate: no, there is no difference. I'm town, and you two aren't.
But I'm realistic, and I think that I will have a hell of a job convincing people that Phate has to be lynched too, so I'd rather have a lot of time for that. And being realistic, I am afraid I will have a tough job even in two days.Surrender, imagine and of course wear something nice.- evilsnail

That's just the way I say things. With nuance.
I understand your point more about going after Phate, but I still think it's a weird strategy. Seems to me that if you're sure I'm scum, it makes more sense to go after me. You'll have an easier time getting me lynched. A dangerous choice if you're pro-town (though you aren't).- evilsnail

My point is this (and I guess this is mainly for the benefit of everyone else, since I don't need convincing):
If you're town and you're sure I'm scum, squaring off with Phate seems a strategy with clear drawbacks. It risks you losing that battle and getting yourself lynched in the process. I'm a much easier lynch.
If you're scum, though, I can totally understand your choice. You can leave pushing my lynch to Phate, so you don't need to concern yourself with that. You can just wait until one of the U2 players votes me and hammer to end it. It's better for you to put distance between yourself and Phate, because there is a chance you're going to get lynched before me today. In that event, Phate needs to look good, so some distancing will pay off.- evilsnail

The fact that you're even concerned with the next day is weird. Heck, I'd just be happy to survive today, because that's the only way we don't lose this game today already. I'll admit openly that I'm going after you because you're the easier target. I know for a fact both you and Phate are scum. I don't really care which one of you we lynch first. The only thing I'm concerned with right now is self-preservation, because my lynch = town loss. Planning for the long haul is something only scum can afford to do right now.- mykonian

Nuance? No, Snail. When you know who is scum, there is no need for nuance. You are supposed to be certain, but you still play your little games to convince people.evilsnail wrote:That's just the way I say things. With nuance.

I'm sorry, but I have to lynch 2 people, in stead of one, and that is our difference: you only need one more mislynch, and you show it clearly here. You don't care about the next day: for a reason.evilsnail wrote:The fact that you're even concerned with the next day is weird. But, this is not constructive: I can show you are scum, and that is fun and all. But that isn't going to win us the game. Phate needs to get lynched too.Surrender, imagine and of course wear something nice.- DTMaster

You're not reading me right. I did call him scum a couple of times in the game - and he was one of my top suspects, but, on Day 5, I changed my mind. I said so very clearly at the beginning of Day 6. If CSL had bothered to look at my opinions that day, he would have known I wasn't going to hammer him.DTMaster wrote:Actually:Snail you just lied. You flip flopped about CSL calling him scum multiple times but only in a recent post did you comment that CSL was town in your reads. Everyone just ctrl+F Snail about this- zorastermod

Some thoughts about this game:
1. Thanks for playing everyone. I thought this actually turned out well, despite some hiccups.
2. Speaking of hiccups, I apologize for the start of the game. It was really amateurish on my part. I tried to iron out all the details ahead of time, but as it turns out, a weird mechanic with a totally open setup with 30 players analyzing it leads to some unex6pected results!
3. I thought the mechanic was interesting, and I’d do it again with some slight changes, perhaps in 6 months to a year if there’s interesting. I’d probably change it to semi-closed and de-vanilla it a little, but not much – I thought the mechanic really was able to shine through the less bogged down in roles it was.
4. The one huge downside of the game is inactivity that comes with switching universes. It’s like being force replaced into a game. Though U1 was plagued with bad luck, I don’t think it’s a coincidence that the universe with FAR less chatter (and thus easier to catch up) was the universe that won. Still, before I run this again, I’ll try and think of ways to mitigate this. I knew it was a risk coming in.
5. I think people really realized the fundamental thing about this ruleset a bit too late: people from other universes help. A lot. Because they’re essentially cleared the moment them come until you need to lynch some other universe scum and then your options are very limited (a good thing for town).
6. Whoever doubted the teleporters were important was proven deadly wrong.
7. I’m looking for a backup mod for a future large game. Whether or not you’re interested, I’m more than happy to backup your game for you, provided you meet my requirements.
8. Please, please, please nominate people for scummies. I love to see players from my games nominated.
Other stuff:
1. Please let me know how you felt my game management as a moderator was either here or by PM. Feel free to use an alt account if you’d rather me not know your identity. I really do appreciate constructive criticism as I have a lot of expectations in the way I run games, and the only way to live up to that expectation is to continually improve myself as a moderator. I try hard to be professional, efficient and fun in all my interactions. If I have somehow not managed to do this, please let me know how I've failed and how I might improve.
2. Obviously this game was a bit challenging to run as a moderator as it was a complicated setup that essentially had two games going.
3. Any other comments are welcome! Just be sure to nominate/second/third people for nominations.Last edited by zorastermod on Wed Apr 07, 2010 1:39 pm, edited 2 times in total. - zorastermod
