@NS: Nick wouldn't like that very much.

@Nick: Ten hours is plenty of time for votes to go places.

P-EDIT:
Given Rach's involvement, I doubt a claim would come before the deadline.
I don't like Nick's last few posts. That said, I'd rather an Andy wagon over a Nick one.
Still. I'll put a vote there if you think this can happen and everyone would be fine with that.

Can we get a consensus of people who are online right now?

Don't see how so many people think BRO is scum but not Andy.
Levels of engagement are similar, but BRO actually gives content, Andy is just noise.

I will attempt to answer this like Mollie.

u r a dummy
Here's some scenarios for why you're wrong:
1) TownAndy is pushing for a lynch on Rach. Rach flips scum. He's a likely night target in this situation.
2) TownAndy is pushing for a lynch on Rach. Rach flips town. He's not a likely night target in this situation.
3) ScumAndy is pushing for a lynch on Rach. Rach flips scum. He's not a night target.
4) ScumAndy is pushing for a lynch on Rach. Rach flips town. He's not a night target.

However, Andy said he'd see us on D2. Not that he might see us, or anything with doubt--but that he would see us. This means that Andy (if he is town) believes in situation 2. Ergo, Andy is pushing what he believes is a mislynch, if he is town. Otherwise, Andy is scum. In all three of the most viable situations that make sense from Andy's rhetoric, Andy is anti-town.

I'll take you seriously when you're on topic. But when you're asking for me to reiterate why Rach is scum this close to deadline and when we're not going to flashwagon anywhere else or when you're attacking andy for a "see you D2" tell you're going to get a disapproving look and probably won't be taken seriously by me.
I'm not going to give up. I -am- on topic.
I'd like you to explain your stance on Rach before the flip, rather than after.
It's important to me that you do.
Despite how much I want this Andy wagon, it feels like Rach's is inevitable, and I can't stand the reasons some people have for voting her. You included.

Anyway, the FTL is back, and, of course, I can't rely on MS to do crap while I'm not here.

SO! Andrius, Nick, and TF are all still on my list of people I don't like.
To be honest, TF's plays today are a bit better if he's town, but absolutely despicable if he's scum. Of course, I'm reading this from the angle of him and BRO being town and Nick trying to set up a 1v1 town between them. I could WIFOM it for days, though, so I'll leave this where it is now.
I'm probably only going to settle on a wagon between Andy and Nick, but I need to talk to MS before making a play he doesn't agree with (YOU SEE MS, COMMUNICATION! COMM UNI CATION!)
I got ice-cream to celebrate us catching scum, though! It was vanilla, which I'm starting to like less and less nowadays. Maybe I'll get something more flavorful next time.

Andy's got this bumbling idiot attitude about him and everyone just lets it go unchecked. Today, alone, he's been corrected on things more than once (see 2666/2667 and 2497/2499 interactions) and his big post was like double-sized (I think, right? Pretty sure it's copy/pasted twice).

I leave for a day and then the thread grows ten pages on me?

Thoughts as I catch up

: I hate nachoparanoia more than I hate being paranoid of any other player in this game.

: How could you hate this lovable guy? Besides, he's harmless. Plain. Nachos sans cheese. Lacks the Vitriol and OOMPH~ that a scummy Nacho has, too.

and are fucking spectacular. While Nacho's rambling about meta on people, B&B's doing some fucking work. Also, it helps that I've wanted Nick lynched for awhile now, and his recent activity doesn't help his cause. The whole deal with everyone calling him scum but not voting him reminds me of the Rach wagon, too.

: Seriously, Andy, I want to buy you a drink. Dat TK.
Image

and the Bork reactions had me in stitches. Shit's priceless.

So, my responses to this all and more?
B&B's interactions with everyone are amazing. Especially this Zmuffin one. I love the take-no-prisoners approach.
Venmar lynch is a shitty lynch for today. It's high risk and low reward and Venmar's actually been playing the game today, so I'd rather not risk a mislynch on him, esp. if he is PGO. In fact, I think calling out the validity of his claim is just going back to the start of D1, and I'd like to think we made some fucking progress from there when, y'know, we caught scum.
Nacho lynch is a shitty lynch for today. Nacho's a strong town player and I've already been over why he's town. If push comes to shove, I'll defend Nacho like a madman in this game.
Notscience is kid Goku. One day, he'll be a Super Sayain.
Nick's still my pick for today's lynch. He's been really quiet and snippy with people like Mastin, which makes me wonder if he's trying to coast and hope the wagon'll go away or what.

It's hard to refute, though.
But, Nick, where is the furor? Where is the passion!? Get up and give hell to those fuckers who don't have a substantial reason for voting you! Make your cases! Soldier onward, damn it!

Mala's been more null since then. The whole not contributing thing? The same could be said of a certain person I'm actually voting for.

Metal Sonic's reading Mala as town.
I'll vote a cat, especially given howOpen 489 turned out. Also, my ban put a grinding halt to me posting cat pictures on these forums.
So, there's some primal force that's trying to turn me against cats right now.

Still, we're a damn hydra, and I'm not going to change my vote (one that both heads agree is scum) for one that one head thinks is iffy and the other is convinced is town.

And, you know what? Fuck it.

Took a nap, came back, got a vote on me.

Desp, good luck with where you're coming from on that. I'm a PR called
Unlynchable D2 Townie
who, when given the hammer, kills the person leading their wagon (like a reverse supersaint) and then revives on D3.

<3 you, Ghostlin.

This game's been slowing down. If this Nick wagon's going to putter out, we need to put some steam into some scum hunting.
Glad to see BRO posting, though. What's up, dude?

The flavor is really great, too. I'm Child Emeralda, but if the town goes on a side-quest and I get lynched on D2 (Disk 2, hahah), then I 'grow up' and become Adult Emeralda, which has a different PR, I imagine.

...

BRO, it's a joke. :P

Those are most of my D2 reasons for keeping my vote where it is--mostly the BnB push, although it was awkward when BnB put their vote elsewhere for awhile.
It was strange, because Nick resigned to just get lynched at one point, then he got his head back in the game, but only to be snarky and push a Mala counterwagon. Of course, the post where he provided reads was good, but I think it's fishy as fuck that he's appealing to the same Logic that BnB was in order to get him lynched.

I'm really not feeling Mala's play. I understand where Mala was coming from on D1, but, again, resignation doesn't fly very well with me, and D2's been making me more and more wary of the slot. Last I talked to MS, he was sure that Mala was town, though, and he explained a few meta points and so on that had me understand why he'd think so. Ultimately, our hydra wouldn't support a Mala lynch, as we're sure that Nick is scum here. If it is a hard bus, as you think, the posting similarities (resignation, quips, and pushing hard on popular wagons). How do you feel about Mala's vote on you?

If it was down to what player's I (varsoon) would rather keep around, it'd be Nick, because he's a cool guy and has proven he can do work when he needs to. Plus, he played cat-and-dog with me.

However, there's a lot of evidence that's making me read him as scum, and I'm not comfortable with my vote being anywhere else at this point in the game.

Solid. That sheep is what put her way scummier for me, but I don't really think anyone else noticed it/really made a big deal out of it, so I thought maybe I was going crazy when it happened.

The problem with the Mala wagon for me is that it's not kosher with my other head, Mala's play has been all over the map and I've been reading her as town for a long time now, and Mala feels a bit too distant from the game right now. In regards to Nick, Mala's flip doesn't give any worth-a-shit info. If she's scum, I could easily see it as a bus (I still think people were bussing Rach) and if she's town, I definitely wouldn't be getting any good vibes from Nick.

Red Baron deep dish singles fucking rock, man.

It's relevant now.

If we lynch mala, I can finish phase one of my gambit.
Right after Phase 1 and night, I can do phase 2 and 3, provided I'm alive then.
Phase 2 and 3 are short and can be completed during D3.
Finishing my gambit will give us a reliable read on Nacho and Nick, who a lot of people are all over the place on reading.
Consider it.

Worst possible scenario is that Mala flips town and Nacho/Nick pass my gambit, but even then, we can avoid mislynching those two if it turns out that way.

For the record, Phase 1 of my gambit doesn't need to lynch Mala so much as it just needs a lynch on anyone that Nick (and preferably Nacho) have read/pushed as scum. Mala's a good choice, given the relation to the two and the dichotomy there.

Other lynches that fit this bill that I'd be happy to push through: Mac and
maybe
Andy. But I like Andy. And more folks have interacted with Mala than Mac.

Off-season. I laced up my sneakers and got back out on the court despite that.

@BnB: Oh, mala's people, too. However, I'd rather risk a mislynch on mala than on Nick (on a player-by-player basis, given how much I like them personally and how much they have contributed to the game and potential they have for further contribution) as of now. Also, regardless of the mala flip, I can use it as part of my gambit to divine BOTH the alignments of Nacho and Nick. Between Nick and Mala, I feel like there's scum. I've been putting all my bets on Nick. However, I stopped and thought about it--a lynch on Nick only provides us with Nick's Alignment. That's it. How could I approach this situation and be able to intrinsically get more out of it?
That's when I started to formulate my gambit.

This is probably the most untrue thing you've said to date.
Except it is true.
Everything we divine after that is speculation based on his alignment and how others have played.

I'd rather go for a lynch that's just as likely to produce scum and far more likely to give town good info--info that informs the alignments of Nick and Nacho.

Three birds with one stone rather than one.

Mala, you're still cute, and the major reason I'm putting your head on the block is because I'm iffy about your slot.
I want things out of you.
Yes, I have a gambit that involves your lynch.
But it doesn't -need- to be your lynch.
Take this as a call to get up and play the game. Fucking smash through the opposition, don't just sit back and twiddle your thumbs. Play the damn game. Catch some scum with me.

You remind me of how I was in Open 489. I felt like the wagons on me were all stupid, ignorant townies and that my scum reads were being ignored and that it didn't matter what I did because town was sheepy or not-posting and scum were taking advantage of that.
So, my gut's all like "Mala town" but the evidence and your plays today make me get all "Mala scum!" and so I'm compromised. I asked MS if I could pressure you and run a gambit that might involve your lynch and he said he'd be fine once I explained the gambit. Of course, I told him not to spill the beans on it, so if he does... *shake fist*

Anyway, Mala, comment on your thoughts on today's interactions and what you think is the best move for us to take now?

Basically, I can't score these dunks alone, Mala.
I need help from whoever wants to be on my side.
I'm drafting some plays, scoping out players, figuring out who stands where and playing around it so I can put this ball through the hoop.
But I need help.
I'm just Charles Barkley, and I need all of the Rockets to blast off with me, you dig?

If you're going to sit on a bench and mope around, you might as well be another obstacle for me to slam through.

Get up and play the game. Be transparent. If you're town, it'll fucking shine through. If you're not, well, at least you got to slam with the best. If you're not down for that, then get lynched and jam with the rest.

Woah woah woah woah woah.

I didn't say shit 'bout role pms. That was Xenoblade. Totally different game, months ago.
I'm a changed man, Mac.

But... maybe I need to do something a bit more to get people to follow me onto the court, you know?
I used to jam for the 76'ers before I went to the Suns, yeah? I'm not the same b-baller I was back then, and we all know it.

So, Mac, I'm going to get you on this with me. You need to be a louder voice in this game.
Speak up, Mac! Get out there! Burn some rubber, make some dunks with me!
What are your reads? What plays do you think should happen today?

This gambit will succeed at revealing Nick's Alignment to us as well as Nacho's.

AJ, I think you just don't believe in the dunks.

Let's lay out a few things, mostly so you kneejerk reactionary folks can shut up and jam:

1. My entire gambit is getting more activity out of both town and scum. How people interact with what I'm doing will be very telling of their alignment.
2. The Gambit itself will not get anyone modkilled.
3. The Gambit itself will not go against site rules.
4. The Gambit itself will work for the purposes I've outlined, these purposes being to get Nick and Nacho's alignments without having them lynched.
5. The current flow of the day was headed towards a Nick lynch or a no Lynch, unless someone did something that'd divert attention. Everyone was content with that. I challenged it.
6. In challenging the flow of the day, I've been able to PRODUCE more for town than the late complacency, and I've INSPIRED other players to PRODUCE more content as well.

So, if you think my plays are bad, or facepalm-worthy, or I should be NK'd/Vig'd, or that I'm shit-posting, think again.
I could have happily pushed the Nick wagon all day, and it'd go over the hill, and we'd have Nick's alignment.
Then I realized we can have Nick's alignment WITHOUT risking a mislynch on him.
And we'd get Nacho's alignment, too.
AND it'd make me feel way better about how I complacently sat on the Andy wagon yesterday and denied Rach was scum despite that being pretty much wrong. Verdict's still out on Andy, but I'll get to the bottom of that once he gets to the bottom of another case of beer, I imagine.

Personally, I was trying to help get some cooperation going between the majority of my town reads by actually compromising on someone (since I think BnB more or less did compromise yesterday to help Mastin/Thez/desp/other theories on Rach. But all I could think when I read your idea was just how incredibly stupid it sounded.
I can't very well understand the extent of
all the stupid playing a gambit with someone's lynch to prove OTHER PEOPLE just by having them vote. Gambits are supposed to have a chance to succeed, you know.

To the first bolded, I don't give a damn if I'm damned all the way to hell and back. In my eyes, my gambit confirms three players with the cost of one. Just lynching Nick only confirms one player at the cost of one player. It's simply
better
. Also, it gives us a truthful alignment tell on Nick and Nacho.

To the second bolded, this is exactly why you should stop mouthing off. You don't get it. You calling my play stupid isn't getting town anywhere. Put on your big boy pants, AJ. Play the game. Stop whining about how things aren't going the way you think or want them to go. Put your chips on the table. Develop cases. Make significant plays. But don't show up to the game, post a gif, call the HARDEST WORKER IN THIS GAME stupid, then peace out on the note that you're happy to push the uninspired Nick wagon when there's a superior option available.

Look at the wagons that've grown on them who won't budge on either, and how those same people interacted with the Rach wagon.

You know, I'm beating around the bush, let me just get long winded and pull this whole thing out for you:

Rach, at the time of the Lynch, was the following:
zMuffinMan, Desperado, Nachomamma8, Ghostlin, BeautyAndTheBeast, Aj The Epic, Sound of Silence, Andrius, Trust Fund, Saki, BROseidon

The people who gave up wagons to change to the Rach Wagon (TRR=town read rach. SRR=scum read rach) were:
BROseidon (TRR), Saki (TRR), Trust Fund (TRR), Andrius (SRR), AJ the Epic (SRR), BeautyandtheBeast (TRR), Ghostlin (SRR), Sound of Silence (TRR)

Basically, only zMuffinMan, Desperado, and Nachomamma8 were consistently SRR for all of D1.

Now, there's two possible scenarios here.
Either Rach's wagon was entirely town (So far, true, as Saki and Sound of Silence were both town)
OR
Rach had scum bussing her.

Now, Rach likely did have scum bussing her.
Which is interesting, given that our two confirmed town were reading her as TOWN before putting a vote on her.
So, does that mean everyone reading her as scum (Ghostlin, Andy, B&B) who swapped a vote to her to make the lynch happen are scum? Maybe.
What significance is there behind zMuffin, Desperado, and Nacho pushing hard for a Rach lynch right away?

Let's move to the Nick wagon and Mala wagon.

Mastin and BnB both made posts about Nick and the people who were voicing support but not backing it. Sound familiar?
Let's dig in. I've changed things to the SRN/TRN to echo my earlier antonyms.

Mastin's List:
Andrius (SRN)
Venmar
nickthename (TRN)
BeautyAndTheBeast (SRN)
Nachomamma8 (SRN)
Desperado
notscience (SRN)
zMuffinMan (SRN)
Faster than Light (SRN)
Mutleyddmc
Aj the Epic (SRN)
TiphaineDeath (TRN)
Trust Fund

Haven't posted since my post about the nick wagon ending the day:
BROseidon (SRN)
Ghostlin
Mac
Malakittens

BnB's List (of people SRN):
BRO, TF, Mastin, Ghostlin, zMuffin, AJ, Andy, Nacho.

Out of these people, the ones whe were SRN but didn't budge till later on the Rach wagon are:
Ghostlin, AJ, Andrius.

But that represents logical progression of gameplay, which merits these people town points, because if they're scum for playing the same way, then it's a double bus, which is against scum wincon, really. No, let's look at the people who were DEFIANTLY TRN or SRN on Rach, but are the opposite with this Nick Wagon (flimsy/has a read but isn't defiant about it):

zMuffin, Nacho, BROseidon, Trust Fund

Special note is that Desperado was very SRN on Rach all of D1 and has been very TRN on Nick all of D2, while B&B is the opposite (was defiant TNR on Rach, is defiant SRN on Nick).

zMuffin, Nacho, Trustfund, and BROseidon are people that are really suspicious to me, so this feels like it's inquiry in the right direction.

NOW! Let's look at Nick's list for how people stand on the Mala Wagon~

SRM and DEFIANT:
Ghostlin, NicktheName.

SRM but FLIMSY:
Mac,
Mastin,
B&B,
BRO,
NS,
AJ.

SRM but AWKWARD:
zMuffin,
Mutley,
TF,
Andy.

The overlap between the three lists are:

BRO, TF, zMuffin
Nacho's all over the place.
Desperado is defiantly TRM, too, for the record. B&B had some hiccups in TRM, but that's ultimately where it is.

Basically, what this boils down to is that either there's scum CONSISTENTLY playing the game or there's scum INCONSISTENTLY playing the game.

If Nick is Scum, this makes Mala town and means that scum is CONSISTENT in their play.
If Mala is Scum, this makes Nick town and means that scum is INCONSISTENT in their play.
Of course, they could both be scum, which would speak towards CONSISTENCY, which is why I have to play the gambit that I am playing.

Once we know this, it'll be easier for us (or, at least, me) to find scum, because I can look for a group of inconsistent/consistent players and really ISOLATE there.
CONSISTENT PLAYERS: Desperado, Ghostlin, Aj, Andrius, B&B, etc
INCONSISTENT PLAYERS: Rach Marie, Nacho, zMuffin, BROseidon, Trust Fund, etc

The great thing is that NICK and MALA represent each camp as well, with Nick being consistent and Mala being inconsistent, imo.

So, yeah, thoughts?
Am I just crazy and seeing things on a totally different level than everyone else?

When people started posting all those Scum-reading-but-not-voting posts, I did a double take, and reallly mulled over all this stuff, and that's how I came up with my gambit, which'll be a lynch on an inconsistent player that is anti-Nick (Mala, Mac, etc) with PHASE 2 shit that'll give us Nick and Nacho's alignments.

God, I'm so awesome.

TL;DR- Due to player consistencies and inconsistencies, there must be scum between Nick and Mala.
Based on exclusive Varsoon information, coupled with the flip from an inconsistent player that is anti-Nick, I can confirm Nick and Nacho's alignments.
This information will also aid us greatly in finding scum.

Woop woop.

Hahaha, fair enough.

Also, I figure following this line of thought will help us debunk if the scum team is playing like a team (distancing/safely reading each other, pushing mislynches, chainsawing, etc) or if they are in a kind of every-man-for-himself approach (Bussing, forming independent reads, pushing who they think is 'scummy' regardless of alignment).

Also-also, does scum have day chat? Was that confirmed or not?
If so, I'd lean a bit more towards the former.
If no, the latter.
Of course, we're two days (one night) deep, so another night'll give us a good narrative arc to analyze on D3.

I'd rather not have a player v player conflict drag us into a state of shit.

We need drive, clarity, and union.

Let's lynch Mala, yes?

I didn't write that my gambit made me scum-read 2. The actions involving it and surrounding it solidified the scum-read for many players, which is why 2 got lynched.

BESIDES. That was this game. This is now. My gambit will work.

Active lurking isn't a scum-tell. I've employed it in more than a few games on-site. Shadow my daisies.

Oh, I think Nick's scum. Don't think that's changed. But I don't -know- that Nick is scum, and that's the big one here. I'd rather KNOW Mala's alignment through a lynch, and LEARN Nick and Nacho's through this gambit I have lined up.
If it doesn't exonerate them, then, fuck it, we can lynch them.
After all, it doesn't make them town to do the gambit.
It reveals their alignment. :P

Biased.
Pushing your scum-read is not survivalistic, especially when you've got good points that explain how that person is scummy.

Yeah, it's super fucking backwards that Mala was one of Nick's town reads and now she's a scum read, so I'd like to get to the bottom of that, too.
In order to do so, we need votes, though.

In post 3394, nickthename wrote:@zMuffin

That's a really stupid idea. How about instead of that, you read and talk and actually try to find scum?

Nick, I fucking love you.
Yeah, at one point, I thought, "That Waffle post was extreme. This dude now can never have my trust."

Then I realized that's what assholes said to me in the past. And they were dead wrong.

I want that Mala case from you, Nick. It doesn't matter what your alignment is, a Mala case from you is pro-town.
If other players can't see that, they're weak.

IF ANYONE LYNCHES NICK BEFORE HE CAN MAKE HIS MALA CASE, I WILL DUNK THEM.

Also, gonna quote this bad boy:
In post 3393, nickthename wrote: Lynch mala, who is both scum and contributing nothing, and then you can use the result of Varsoon's gambit to figure out the reads. If his gambit turns out to be shit, lynch me then, and by that point my flip should be enough for you to finally start figuring things out, no?

This seems fairly logical to me, and I don't really understand why you're so opposed.

If I'm scum, you get the added bonus of extra information from varsoon on ftl and nacho, since I would assume his gambit will give good reads
If I'm town, there's a shot to get me confirmed town and nacho's alignment flipped, which I would assume would help your reads considerably, and Mala will be lynched, who is almost certainly scum if nacho and I are town.

This seems pro-town in every outcome. At the very worst, Mala flips town, I get lynched the next day, and Varsoon's gambit provides info on him and Nacho. I'm a tad worried myself mala could be town, but I think that's a risk I need to take, considering the pay-offs and the likely hood of malascum.

From your point of view, where one of Mala and I are almost certainly scum, thit seems optimal.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
My schedule's pretty hectic with school just starting, i'll try to get into a rhythm, but expect shorter posts from me for a little while. I really want to get that mala case together, I'll try to find the time as soon as I can, sorry I couldn't finish it tonight.
All you bastards calling Nick survivalistic--what does he have to gain by openly saying "If this shit doesn't work out, lynch me tomorrow?"
Dude's putting 100% faith in what he's doing, and more than that, he's looked at the situation and realize how scum-motivated a lynch on him could be and laid how, practically, how much better a Mala lynch is.
If this was LyLo or MyLo, I'd be hesitant, but
we already lynched a scum PR.
For Nick to essentially dig his own grave like this (if he was scum) would be against his wincon.

B-sides, I want to prove all you haters wrong with my slammin' gambit.
Charles Barkley ain't cripple, he's just a lil' chubby.
I'm puttin' the ball through the hoop, though.
If all nine of you Nick-Wagoners are against me, I'll just have to dunk through every one of you.
Anyone who isn't on the Nick Wagon, why won't you vote for either Nick or Mala? GIVE REASONS.

Allow me to high-light why this is a terrible approach, AJ.
In post 3403, Aj The Epic wrote:FTL: Your gambit is not going to work better than scum hunting. I think I know what you're doing here, and it's stupid regardless of flip outcomes because the logic is bad. (of course you never responded to me when I spoilered and when through your reasoning post).
Secondly, Nick keeps going "I'll get that case up later" constantly. I wrote a mala case in probably 10 minutes yesterday, it was that easy. You can get just about ANY post and go with it. Why is it taking him so damn long?

Mala dies tomorrow. End of story. We've decided to lynch Nick today on BnB's judgment and they've promised to at least look at mala tomorrow (when I'll write up an up-to-date case on her IN A TIMELY FASHION) and then we'll be clear of possibly two scum. Because you know what? Your gambit is already set to clear Nick. You want so badly to clear him that you've chosen the most likely scum candidate and said "Nick's allignment is the opposite BECAUSE one is consistent and one is not and the scum team OBVIOUSLY follows one of these trends".

So look:
No one wants to halt the current proceedings of actually scumhunting
to go along with your three-piece gambit that involves lynching someone to clear someone else. That's not how gambits are employed, nor do you basically televise the whole gambit before starting it... Nor do you announce that you're pulling a gambit.
There is an art to it, and you've yet to master it. Your idea seems so farfetched and complicated (in a bad way, not complex) that it's basically destined to fail by one overlooked issue.

You know the last time I saw a large gambit?
Auntie Jemina pulled on in a game early, calling herself the town role blocker when under pressure and getting a mass claim day 1. She had a really large idea about how to overlap roles well and avoid lynching the PRs. Docs stayed unclaimed and such but you know what? Scum just picked off power roles, as planned. Duh. Jemina flipped scum in the endgame and everyone felt stupid for it. There was no way it ever would've worked in town's favor, and I voiced that, but hey. Complicated long term gambits WILL FAIL because eventually scum will know what's going on and pass through with ease. Imagine if Nacho and Nick are opposite alignments: The scum would know which is town and if he was really stuck, he'd just base his reactions off the town player, changing it slightly to be believable.

1- Nick's busy. He'll get his Mala case done. This is a moot point. I spent over 3 hours before WRITING a case on someone. If you can't see why it's important for Nick to have a case on Mala before anyone gets lynched, you need to. No matter his alignment, it gives a point of reference.

2- I've reiterated, even in the post you reference as bad logic, that they could both be scum. The point is, my alignment doesn't fucking
CLEAR
anyone. It gives a truthful alignment tell. I'd rather get information on 3 players instead of haphazardly risk a mislynch on two in a row. Blindly fumble around and lynch Mala regardless of evidence D3? Sounds real fuckin' town, AJ. Even as a contingency plan, that's not going to give us the info we could mine out of this situation.

3- If you think, in some bizarre world, that everyone sheeping MY OWN POINTS and B&B's against Nick is actually scum hunting, you need to get your head straight. Rushing the day and pushing out this lynch was something I was dead set on, but I stopped and realized how fucking backwards that is. Sure, Nick is a top scum candidate of mine. But Mala's been sending up flags and I've figured out a way to determine THREE PLAYERS' alignments with only a lynch on one of them. That's eons better than your proposed 'scumhunting'. Also, the amount of shit that I've kicked up by doing this has produced lots of amazing reactions and things to look at when we're finally done with Mala and/or Nick, so, yeah, I think you need to take a step back and realize that
Varsoon is doing the most scum-hunting in this entire game.

4-You don't know what I'm doing. Part of this gambit is, in fact, to reveal it in such a way. See point 3, man. My gambit has already produced awesome content. And, again, I reiterate, you have no clue what I'm doing, so stop saying it won't work. Just because I don't play by the same little codes and pathways that most players do doesn't mean that what I'm capable of is less effective. Open your mind.

5- Last time is not this time, you bastard. Last time I saw a grown man wearing red, he was hitting a woman. Ergo, every time I see a grown man in red, he'll be hitting a woman/a wife beater? And you're telling me about shitty logic.

Ultimately, you're rooted in terrible meta ideas of how the game 'works', you don't know what I'm doing and have no place to say otherwise, and you think speed-lynching Nick's somehow the best plan for D2.

I've proven otherwise.

Now, please, put that vote on Mala, or do some actual scum hunting of your own.

We have 7 days. Let's fucking use them.

You know what makes me uncomfortable? B&B calls out 10 players on SRN but not voting him. Players then can all just hop on the wagon without having ARTICULATION for WHY, and if it turns out in a scum lynch, yattai, town points all around, but if it's a mislynch, they get to all just hide behind either pointing fingers at B&B or the smoke-screen that B&B allowed for scum to hide in that wagon.

The way it was growing, and the hydra dissonance about it, and just about everything I've pointed out, it doesn't sit right with me.

now you're getting to something i pointed out roughly 20 pages ago, and said this was one of the major qualms i had with the nick wagon.

but no one felt like discussing it at the time.

and nobody will discuss it now.

because fuck this game.
I saw it then, and I'm seeing it now, and we need to discuss it.

This game is awesome, dude. Get your head in it. Bring your strongest stuff. I'm here for you. Let's do this.

I could still maybe make it work if Nick's the lynch.

I feel like BRO's input is genuine, too. I'd like
more
input from him because of that, too.

AJ seems to be on the ground that Nick and Mala are a cross-bus.
I don't think that's the case, but yeah.

I'm pretty unhappy about AJ's response, but that's obvious in my response to him.

Nacho, you posted:
"1. Aj The Epic
4. BROseidon
5. Desperado
7. Ghostlin
13. nickthename
18. TiphaineDeath
19. Trust Fund (Cabd + Syryana)
20. Venmar"

Are these players you are currently suspicious of/want to get more out of?
I noticed you focused on BRO and started towards questioning AJ, which seems like a progression down this list, but do you intend on working with everyone here before the day ends?

@Desp: It shows the priority of Nacho's outward thought process. Ergo, what he wants us to see, and how he wants us to see it. If town's all assholes and doesn't let me gambit, then I need some other ways to read Nacho. Being able to see his cognitive map helps map his approach to the game, which helps me a lot.

@Andy
: I wanna play league with you. My username is "Varsoon", if you want to play sometime. :)

@Ghostlin
: Took a nap and came back and now you're on the court. You wanna jam with me?
Also, now that I'm here and you're here, wanna know anything?

@B&B
: Look, I understand that trust has to be earned. I was banned from the site for 2 weeks over something I highly contested but I'm still playing this game despite that. Is that not proof of my dedication to the game itself? I spent 15 hours, in this game, writing out ISO cases to support my reads list. Doesn't that show that I'm invested? I have this game open on a tab on my browser and I haven't navigated away since it began, because I don't want to miss anything--I've spent more time on this game than I have in my Grad school seminars and even doing work for grad school. Does that mean nothing to you? I even sent Bork the entire Xenogears Perfect Works (translated and in HQ scans) just so he'd have even more of a handle on the source material.
If you can't trust me after the literal days of work I've put into this game, then I don't think you'll ever trust me. What wins trust? Being on wagons that give scum flips? If that was the case, Scum would always bus their allies. No. So, I ask again, what do I have to do to make you believe me, to make you trust that I'm not just talking out of my ass, that I've thoroughly figured out a play that'll be amazing and get a lot of good info? Because it hurts a lot, it really sucks when the players I got into this game with and have looked up to since the day I started playing on Mafiascum call my plays bullshit and shenanigans and they just dismiss what I have to say. I'm trying my best to earn it, I'm here, I'm dedicated. I've cried over this damn game, and gotten angry, and almost put a hole in my wall. I've been through a move across the country, and I've been through a short-lived relationship where I was essentially told I wasn't good enough--despite how fucking transient my life has been for the last three months, I've been here and the game's been here for me. Why can't you be?

Yes and Yes, and I'll try to make the question not sound trite. Will your gambit still work even with a Nick lynch? In other words, does it work in reverse?

Yeah, it should still work with a Nick lynch, but I made it with Mala's flip and the Nick/Mala relationship in mind.

I hope you understand that behavior such as your own is the reason scum can get away with lurking wagons away.

Because quick-lynching Nick sure does get us a shitload of information.
Pressuring everyone SRN to put a vote there is what lets scum get away with lurking on a wagon. If they're SRN, they instantly have alimony and can vote Nick to death. If they're TRN, they're given poise to just sit around and be all "Meeeeh, it's inevitable, why even try anything else~"

Fuck you. I'm trying something else, and so are plenty of people. If you can somehow declare that this day would've been better if it ended 600 posts ago, then you need to re-evaluate how important all the info we've gained since then is. You're actively denouncing playing the game at hand, and generation of content, all because you're sure you got scum. You know what? I was sure of that shit, too. At the windup of this day, I was positive that Nick was scum, but at least I had the humility and the consideration to do scum hunting outside of pushing that wagon alone until the day ended. I'd like to think what I've done since then has produced lots of content that'll help town get a victory in this game, too. We've gotten excellent contributions from Mastin, Nick, Nacho, Desperado, zMuffin, B&B and more that, while they might not advance town agendas, certainly help us read other players as well as those that I named--ESPECIALLY when we start getting flips from lynches and kills.

So, yeah, continue to bemoan my play. At least I'm playing, damn it. Even if it isn't the 'game' you are playing.

Sure. Where do your mixed feelings stem from?

His claim throws me off, because it makes sense for him to claim it as both scum and as town.
His early points against mastin reek of scum (649 is really the only place he advances his mastin case, and despite that, he's building a fence by the time he posts 775).
He never really elaborates on why he's scum-reading me or Nick. This feels especially wrong when he pulls back his read on me a bit when my hydra posits that he's null-lean-town, and his short-lived support of the Nick wagon.
He flagrantly stood out against the Rach wagon.
He's been deflecting a lot, but what's weirder is that it feels like he's all over the place and playing into the main reason I called him town (isolated, individualistic, loud play).
A lot of his votes today are not articulated at all.
Overall, his average post is "Fuck you, this town needs to X. Vote [RandomPlayer]." It isn't consistent in the least. Dude's all over the place. I'm pretty much with Metal on this one now, he's null-lean-scum or VI.

Because I am. :P

Near the end of D1, Venmar had a reach-out to me, and me to him. We came to an understanding of one another, and realized we were both town. And you can trust me on that.
To me, it seemed like he put you down as scum, but was wheeling back on it and wanted some validation from a second party so that he could change that read.

It isn't scummy perse, and it fits the bill with his play so far, but play so far isn't really pinging town for me, especially given the Rach flip and his approach D2.
I don't know if he's intentionally throwing up VI flags, or if it's genuine. That's why I'm so conflicted on this read. Earlier in the game (d1), I saw him as I was in Xenoblade. Now, I'm not sure if he's doing it to be townread or if that's just his normal.

how the fuck do you not notice this?

I notice that some players post less, or aren't as loud as others.

Nick, TF, and Mastin have all been playing pretty stridently D2. Andy, Mala, and Desperado haven't contributed as much, but they've contributed.

I agree that Mutley, NS, Mac, and TD all feel pretty absent.

This happens with big games.

How do you propose we give incentive to post?

Day 1 ended at 2465 posts.
There are currently 1091 posts in D2.
D1, TF had 202 posts. This is an average of about 8% of the posts made that day.
D2, TF has 43 posts. This is an average of about 4% of the posts made so far today.
The game has 21 players. Day one, average input, ideally, would be about 118 posts, or 4.7%.
Day two, average input, ideally, would be about 61 posts, or 5.5%.

Yeah, that's half as many posts from the slot on average (in relation to posts total in the day), and a significant dip in relation to average posts of the game.
TF's done a reaction sort of test, had a garbage Nick vote, and has had solid content across posts for the day.
That's more than other absentees have done.

Of course, this doesn't make TF town. If anything, the loss of steam after a scum PR is lynched, coupled with the opportunism and PR-claim-that-could-be-scum makes me put TF further and further down the scum ladder.

@Venmar
: Used to be in your shoes, bro. Look at me in Xenoblade. Hell, look at me here. I've come to accept that, on these forums, VI equates to high noise and low (perceivable) content.

@TD
: What's there to not be used to? Elaborate a bit here.

@Mac
: Expecting more from you.

@TF
: You, too. We've pretty much exposed how much your activity has dropped. I'd like you to make that up to us.

@Mutt
: Coming, I'd imagine. Nick's not really a high-volume poster. His activity in this game is the most active I've ever seen him on site. Again, no matter his alignment, it's against his wincon to not post that Mala case at this point. So, it's inevitable, he either posts his Mala case and we move from there or he doesn't and he's lynched.

It's null because it's against BOTH scum and town wincons to not produce a Mala case.
The fact that he pumped out reads and direct lines to everyone STILL makes me lean him more town.

Also, stalling? Laughable, since he's the L-1 wagon and we saw what happened to a 'stalled' L-1 wagon on D1.
Your blame is misplaced, too. I'm the one who pulled the brakes on this wagon so that we could get more out of D2. Obviously, folks like you and B&B can't respect that. That's okay.

I love that Desperado is pushing hard on me for being consistent. He probably reckons I'd be a good mislynch after the Nick mislynch, especially since he's been playing around that since yesterday. The whole case on me relies a bit too much on Nick being town, something that scum-Desp would know and want to put against me. Also, since he's been pushing on me since D2, it won't seem like the obvious distraction/push for a mislynch on D3 that it is. Still, it's interesting to see Desp cherry-pick my posts for points against me.

Speaking of Nick, I'm sorry you're gone, bro. At least you died as a man... of the SEA.

I was going to kick back and relax after that stressful D2, but it turns out I didn't have the money for ice-cream, so I just kinda slept instead. I felt kinda dumb, because I had the site open and everything, then it turned down my credit card. Guess I have to wait to get paid again, so I'm looking forward to ordering some delicious food at the end of today--hopefully with a scum-flip this time.

My top scum-reads for today are Trust Fund, Desperado, and MalaKittens.

That said, let me begin on the one that I'm most uncomfortable about:
Vote : Trust Fund

I'm going to go ahead and use an Andy-list in my next post.

Well, BRO, what are your current reads and what do you believe is the best course of action for D3?
Especially now since you've been knocked back a bit with the recent town-flips on your scum-reads?
Has that made you reconsider reads you previously had? How so?

The piles for confirmed people are for the time of their lynch. MS and I had a shouting match with each other over the whole Rach thing and at the end of it I told him to put down a vote since he was convicted in his idea that Rach was scum. I was null and conflicted about her, MS was convinced of Rach scum. That's lean-scum for the slot.

What's funny about that? :D

Hahaha, see, now, that's funny.

End of D2, MS was scum-reading Nick and I was pulling back from that read due to the way his wagon was operating. I'm a bit understanding of BRO--without B&B's flip, I'd probably be pushing/pressuring B&B today.

Instead of providing a sweeping generalization, explain why each of my scum reads and lean-scum reads suck. Give me where you stand on those players, and why pressuring/lynching them wouldn't be a good thing for town.

You wanna ball? Get on the court. I don't need comments from some peanut gallery.

P-EDIT:
@TF: Yeah, sure, write off my questions and points as a pissing match and LOLGAMBITRY. I've had about 3 posts in D3 so far, and I don't think a single one has anything to do with so-called 'shitgambits'.
So, when did you decide to start doing this 'ignore players who are very much a part of the game' strategy? It sounds like this began mid-way through D2, rather than something you're choosing to do right now.
And, if you didn't catch the fucking Nick flip, that's exactly what leads to the kinds of mislynches that scum wants.

P-P-EDIT:
I'm glad you can see what I'm talking about.

I feel you, as Metal Sonic has been pretty absent due to lots of course-work, cram-school, and labor on his end.
However, it's not going to stop me from competently playing the game and engaging in discussion with all players.
Give us your reads, and what you think is the best course for D3.
Furthermore, explain why you were still on the Nick wagon when it flipped. What were your motivations to hang on to that wagon? How do you feel about it now?

I think it's captivating that you're bringing up your PR (something none of us can confirm) and reiterating that you'd rather be dead than alive in this game. I'm astounded that this has become a tactic for pretty much anyone trying to plead that they are town. Somewhere down the line in this game, acting apathetic and worn out became perceived a town-tell and at least three other players have used it when put under pressure.

Trust, since you and a few others seem to be convinced that I'm fucking useless in this game, would you like me to confirm Venmar as PGO or not?

Hahahahhahahehehehe

I can only picture Metal Sonic dressed up as a Private Investigator, pressing a black-light and magnifying glass to the floor, looking all solemn. I ask him what the deal is and he says, "Shh... I'm this close to finding my number one cumread."

There's so many things wrong with this that I don't even know where to begin.

And the ice-cream I want isn't always vanilla!! It just tends to be. I'll probably get some other flavor next time, jeeze.

@zMuffin
: Yeah, I feel you. I can't get much traction out of this TF thing and Mala has a lot to answer for. Besides, the way TF handled my mention of exposing Venmar makes me more comfortable in town-reading his slot. If he was scum, he'd know if we were both town and would likely encourage me to impale myself on the PGO. Of course, this kinda falls apart if Venmar is scum, since it's pretty obvious that scum-TF wouldn't want me confirming alignment on a scum-Venmar. Paranoia aside, he could just kill me during the night phase, so anything I got on Venmar wouldn't be revealed and it could be interpreted that Venmar is, in fact, PGO. So, it's totally against scum-TF's wincon to tell me to absolutely avoid confirming Venmar's alignment, unless he thinks I have a way of doing it that isn't a targeted night action--and it's apparent by his engagement on my earlier gambit that he doesn't believe in that. I hope that makes sense. So, yeah, I'm fine with transitioning to someone else I'm very suspicious of;

: Try looking at my nearly two-dozen other posts where I am directly standing in opposition to B&B and saying that the blind sheeps of the Nick wagon are shitty and more time should be spent on the day. It's fairly obvious that I didn't agree at all with how B&B handled the Nick wagon. If anything, my hammer is a conceit to Majiffy, as I was waiting for the inevitable Nick scum-flip and for Majiffy to gloat all goddamn day about it. Instead, Nick flips town and B&B dies overnight, so now I'm in this place where I have to analyze everything again and pressure out different players.

It's fairly obvious there was some contention between us. As the day went on, I was more and more convinced that B&B was either a completely dense townie or scum that was promoting the sheeping out of a quick mislynch.

Okay, fine, BnB. Keep talking about finding town, keep posturing and mouthing off and all of that.

I'm working cognitive gears, I'm coming up with ways to confirm people without lynching/killing them, and I'm actually doing it.

In post 3407, Faster Than Light wrote:We have 7 days.

@B&B

NOT UNTIL HE PRESENTS HIS MALA CASE.

You want your lynch? Fine, have you damn lynch, just stop being a total asshole about it. I've spent the better part of this day actually trying to get more info and figure shit out, but if you want to just push this lynch through while acting like anything but a lynch of Nick is useless, then fuck it, you reap what you sow. You, and all the other scumbag assholes who've been suffocating anyone who tried something other than sheeping this fucking wagon. I'm through. Nick's probably scum anyway, so fuck it. Here come the flip, have fun, gloat like a bunch of cheese-eating suit-wearing campy assholes and maybe, just maybe, we can actually play the game on D3 and not browbeat the shit out of everyone to sheep the easiest wagon of the day.

Hey, don't know if I welcomed you to the game yet. Things are slow right now. I feel like, given your interaction, the day is going to speed up a bit.

Still don't like Mala, but that's in my back pocket now. Gotta get things done today.

I'm a bit unsettled by your "No, I had two shots" reveal. I don't really like working with exclusive information and forming decisions based on that. Can you prove that you had a second shot your slot used on AJ? How do I know you're not just scum trying to cause confusion? It certainly seems like the perfect kind of gambit, to claim you shot someone and then go "Welp! Something's amiss!" and direct blame and stuff. That said, I've never seen a scum dayvig, so even though I like to entertain the possibility, I've been roughly reassured in the past that it just isn't a scum role.

Basically, Waynegg, what I want to know is your purpose behind revealing you were a 2-shot and why you decided to also reveal that the second shot didn't go through.

@Mala: You're right, I'm stupid. I meant 'vig'. I guess it'd be fuckin' overt if he was a dayvig.
Are there any other ways scum could get two kills in one night?
It can't be a case of someone impaling on the PGO, because the only night deaths have been Vanilla Town, right?

Where the fuck is Nacho?

No-no-no-no-no.

Bork said there was only one anti-town faction in the game. There can't be an SK.

I agree, speculation on PRs is trouble. That's why I hate dealing with claimed PRs, it's a huge can of worms.

@TF: Then I want to know the purpose behind his recent line of questioning and the reveal.
