@S_S: I don't have a town read on Syr, but what do your reads outside of Syr look like?

I would rather the people who are lurking the fuck out of the game actually show up and start posting things. I do have at least some sort of town read on all of {bork, Charl, TOB}, but, ugh.
I would like to discuss the pros/cons of mass flavor claiming. Please note that I am not actually proposing it as yet, I'd just like to discuss it.
The nature of this game intrinsically suggests that character is not linked to alignment. However, claiming flavor right from the start severely limits scum's ability to fakeclaim later on. You can't claim Kerrigan now, then pretend to be a Doctor later. It doesn't make sense. The downside of this, of course, is the reverse; someone claiming Lt. Morales would likely be perceived by scum to be a Doctor, despite the fact that Morales also has powers that could serve to provide Commute, Roleblock, or even Invent.
My point here is that, while claiming flavor this early is usually a bad idea, it deserves discussion this time around.
mafia must have been given safe fake claims by the mod. It can't be that easy.

After reading the posts exactly above this, I'm even more convinced Syryana whatever their stupid name is, is scum.
Those claims are quite clearly not serious.

Why? You'd advocate a PL 2 days into d1?
Never said anything about pl

About the flavor mass claim thing, I don't have any idea about the flavor so I wouldn't be able to deduce shit.
What I'd like to discuss though, is that I was the first player who signed up for the game and you'd think that I'd get my first choice character. But I didn't which was weird. Did the same thing happen to anyone else?

How is it anything but a policy lynch? You had yet to post, which by definition makes it a PL. I wasn't going to argue it with Dunn because denial is a strong thing but that's nothing but a PL.

sorry i never got around to this:
I liked 45 and 48 as proactive posts to eschew rvs. I think the bubbles head is a little pants on head in general and in the first part of 57, but I think the gist of the second paragraph is that they're saying syr was making a vote and trying to rationalize it after getting pushed on it instead of actually having a reason which I find a legitimate angle of attack.
Also more relevant than any of that is I believe 91 and that their role is potentially anti-town if not claimed as they did. If they're scum they're giving up a potential advantage by doing that, and I think it would have been perfectly believable for them to just have said it never occurred to them to claim.
Instead we got 91. Town makes 91.

I got my first choice but I think I probably picked a less popular character

TOB's was serious as far as I can tell.
Either way I agree this is the one thing from Syr I probably don't like - instead of analyzing the claims or writing them off as jokes he just goes into "generic well behaved townie mode" to denounce them.
Because there is really nothing to fear from TOB's claim here.

It could be a balance thing. I didn't get my first character choice though admittedly that character is insanely popular across two blizzard games. Would it be pertinent to check if it was a balance choice or already selected character via claiming the ungotten first character? Since I selected mine literally dead last, I could claim the one I didn't get and solve it right away.
Also I did like 45/48 because I consider progressing an RVS wagon a town thing to do. 57/Raven's next post was what I took issue to because I thought Syrana's post and vote on Dunnstral was pretty minor.

I doubt that the order in which we sent our picks was relevant -- I've never seen a upick work like that. Not sure how this is gonna help us find scum, though.
I don't think 64 is scummy. Clearly the gamestate had changed between then and when they initially voted Charloux.

Like aj isnt using that policy lynch point as a vehicle to further any agenda unless its an AJ/S_S team.
In post 194, Seiko x Naomi wrote:I also still think the post reads like a scum post tonally, but probably not as relevant of a point.

two things:
1. "so I find this post a bit odd on re-read" is a very, very, very, very weak way of stating that he feels TOB is scum/that he disagrees with your read. I think regardless of how he does it, town-him would come straight up and say something along the lines of "I disagree with bork's read" or "I don't like how they handled the Charl wagon", aka anything where he takes a firm stance either way on it. the way he did it doesn't feel like he's trying to make any wave in the game, it's really reminiscent of the kinds of posts I see scum making when they want to interject themselves into the conversation in a way that looks natural and doesn't draw too much attention onto themselves.
I don't know if I'm explaining this well at all, if I'm not let me know and I can try again. also, before you ask, yeah it is somewhat rare for me to tone read like this but I'm *usually* right about it when I do - I can link other games where I've done so if you want;
2. I hate the way he tries to use TOB's Charl read "persisting needlessly" as a reason for them being scum; I don't really think TOB having a read on Charl that has happened to not change at all throughout the game is scummy, and the way they just threw it in there without thinking through it in any depth at all or elaborating just reads like scum hoping to bullshit another reason they can add on for TOB being scum ("omg he had a read that hasn't changed, that doesn't sit well with me because... ???"). I've asked him what, specifically, about TOB's read progression comes off as disingenuous to him, no answer.
I don't really think there's any agenda behind the post beyond "I need to figure out some read I can fake", but I don't think it's a post that needed to have been made strategically, either.
