And now we reveal the WAVELENGTH SPECTRUM!

Card:
TallWide

Clue: The Atlantic Ocean

Spoiler: drum roll please...
Image

Team IMAGINATION’s guess of
90
scores them 2 points!

Team Headgear Psychic's guess of
Left
scores them 1 point!

Current standing:

Team IMAGINATION:
5 points
Ariel
northsidegal
Tatsuya Kaname (Current Spokesperson)
Something_Smart (Next Psychic)
Annadog40
Felissan
LlamaMama

Team Headgear Psychics:
7 points
Kanna
popsofctown (Current Spokesperson)
Knightmare491 (Current Psychic)
Hectic
NotAJumbleOfNumbers
shiki

Now sending Knightmare491 their card and spectrum.

Let's try out a new "spokesperson" role - basically, the person who was most recently the Psychic will be the spokesperson for their team until someone else becomes the person who was most recently the Psychic. That means for this phase, Tatsuya Kaname and popsofctown are the current spokespersons for their respective teams. If this doesn't work out/yall don't like this method, we can go back to voting.

In post 176, Felissan wrote:This is tricky, actually. On most world maps, the Atlantic is represented as tall, since it's much larger in the South-North direction than West-East. Also, the fact that it's specified to be specifically this one, as opposed to the even larger Pacific, means we have to deduct a couple points from what we would have given the Pacific.
With just what we've said so far, I'd go with an 80, and I'm open to knock it a bit further down.
You were right on the money sir! But I'm still happy with the result.

Team Headgear Psychics is now up! Here's your card:

WhimsicalSerious

And the clue that your Psychic, Knightmare491, provided is:
Charles Boyle from Brooklyn 99
.

Your team has (expired on 2020-05-13 02:39:30) to guess where the target is. It’s now up to you to discuss and determine where
Charles Boyle from Brooklyn 99
is on the spectrum from 0 to 100. 0 represents “Whimsical” and 100 represents “Serious.”
popsofctown
is your team’s current representative.

Remember to provide your final answer in this format:
Guess: X
where X is between 0 and 100.

Kanna, Hectic, shiki, jumble, have you watched Brooklyn 99?

No, but I just asked someone I know who has. Apparently, he's pretty funny and says/does outrageous things, but isn't self-aware. She said she'd put him as 10 on the scale.

Knightmare, have you watched Brooklyn 99?

i guess i do not understand this game. if the atlantic ocean is taller than it is wide how could the desired number have been greater than 50?
In post 208, Isis wrote:Kanna, Hectic, shiki, jumble, have you watched Brooklyn 99?
i have not. all i know is that it stars andy samberg who is married to joanna newsom who is one of my favorite musicians. when it is 4 am and i must awake at 8 this is one of the songs i listen to very quietly on repeat in hopes of falling asleep. it is very dear to me.

You kinda forgot that the Atlantic is roughly pancake-shaped when you remember which way the up/down axis really is. And a pancake definitely isn't tall.

I think the cluegiver was going with "height is measured parallel to the direction of gravity."

I meant wide in terms of the area of the ocean (in numbers) Pacific would fall 90+ for me so I go with a slightly smaller one.

And Oceans can only be deep, not tall.

Yeah I feel like giving a clue from "wide to tall" the clue should be something that "can be tall". At a minimum that's more fun.

that's very sweet, shiki; i liked the song!

I haven't watched the show, so I don't think I'll be helpful here. From a youtube video I might put him at 20? or we can sheep Hectic's friend idk

i would consider it more about the perception of the clue, really. for me, when i think of "ocean", i certainly recognize that there are some deep depths that have never been explored, but i think it would be fairly accurate to call it really wide.

well, that's another failed prediction on my end.

oh and, for the record, my towels are just as clean as the next person's. t's just that you use towels to clean things off, so given a random towel i would assume that it's slightly more dirty than it is clean.

if i thought about it this way, the atlantic ocean is 8.64 kilometres tall at it's deepest point and the 15,000 kilometres between the arctic circle and the antarctic circle becomes it's widest point, which would have led me to guessing 100 on the scale which is closer to the intended target but wrong on the left/right aspect. if converted to a pancake it would be thin enough to see through.

i have now watched the first eight episodes of brooklyn nine-nine in an attempt to be useful here. it is one of those shows that defines its characters very narrowly and much of the humor comes from the slight differences in its repetitions. kinda like a time loop in which time continues to pass. charles boyle himself seems to be serious about sixty percent of the time. however, one of the jokes for his character is that things he is saying seriously are whimsical to us the audience or to the other characters. i would approximate that about ninety percent of his time on screen is whimsical in some way. so if we balance the characters intentions with our perception of the character it'd put as at 35 or so. i think i'd knock another five off of that because at one point charles boyle describes the new captain as too serious. so 30 would be my best guess.

now presenting... the WAVELENGTH SPECTRUM!

Team Headgear Psychics’ guess of
30
scores them 4 points....

Which also shuts down Team IMAGINATION’s chance to score a Left/Right point!

Current standing:

Team IMAGINATION:
5 points
Ariel
northsidegal
Tatsuya Kaname (Current Spokesperson)
Something_Smart (Next Psychic)
Annadog40
Felissan
LlamaMama

Team Headgear Psychics:
11 points
Kanna
popsofctown (Current Spokesperson)
Knightmare491 (Current Psychic)
Hectic
NotAJumbleOfNumbers
shiki

and with that, Team Headgear Psychics takes the win!
