Because Chara has put itself in a indefensible position, they have to eat the MT townread at this point because their interaction (even if faked) was such an event that they'd look absolutely foolish going against it. Scum are sometimes trapped by their own words because they have their own liability accounted for. It doesn't really favor Chara to ever change their mind on MT after making such a strong stance, therefore if the consensus is actually true(?) then you either have Chara who was trying to pocket MT or a potential partner/partner interacted that Skitter was trying to insinuate

My own confbias tells me that Chara is town however, and would prefer Tweetie

it is actually in the rules of the setup as written by Krazy that both are allowed to do that, and Hectic does have a vested interest in being confusing.
