I'm glad my awesome at night counteracted my HIDEOUS READS during the early game.
I don't think I could have done much better with my jailing.
The similaril could have been scandaloussss depending. I'm glad that part worked out.- Jack

After reading the mafia QT I personally find it hilarious that I was up for kill every single night yet, again, due to my abysmal performance early on I was always the bridesmaid and never the bride.

As I stated in the commentary, the game mechanics coupled with the number of Elves screwed over Morgoth's Mafia hard. They needed a super-kills which superceded the Mandos stuff plus some Roleblocking power plus a more guaranteed Rolestealing power for Morgoth and maybe a better basic shapeshift for Sauron plus reduced Town power (Universal Backup in a setup like this, especially, was a Bad Idea). Strangely, I think the Kinslayer's Mafia lost not because the setup was against them but mostly through their play. If you saw their quicktopic, a lot of Cobalt's early lurking was intentional and did not help matters.
Fakeclaim sharing within scumteams did not work smoothly, thogh it could have been used to advantage much better; they had a few good ones which never made it into the game at all.- Budja

Plum, you kept telling me that you thought Anon could've made better use of the farside QT than you had anticipated. I personally can't think of an obvious usage given Anon's and farside's PMs. How did you think he should've responded to the situation?- Iecerint

Having read your notes QT
1. The outguess in Greek Mythology was partly a function of DeathNote being the mod. But I was also correct, ye know. Might also explain why Aphrodite got fancy flavor.
2. Yar, I knew nothing about the flavor apart from wiki stuff, which focused lots on the phlebotinum and not on the actual characters, unf.
Really fun game, raging at elves notwithstanding.- Starbuck

Bleh, I lost most of my interest in this game about halfway through. I didn't think we had much of a chance when some of the town roles started coming to light; I think both Budja and I were surprised that we made it even as far as we did.tread softly because you tread on my dreams

I'm fine with the Kinslayer QT being released.
Re: balance. I think the Revive-thing wouldn't have been nearly as harsh on scum if the Kinslayermafia had gotten more than 1 kill in. (That Night 2 failure really was a shame. Cobalt would've made the kill if we had sent in proper choices.) The set-up probably was flawed but I think bad luck played a big part in how screwed up it turned out.
The wiki article you linked has a nice short synopsis. Combined with my general knowledge of the themes of the Silmarillion I definitely would've made this connection regardless of my alignment. In hindsight, it was still probably a mistake; it might be a good Townshovel impression, but people don't know me well enough to determine that.Plum wrote:"I tend to disagree. Thematically, I'd expect a Morgoth-Sauron-Werewolves side and a Feanor's sons side (Curufin and Celegorm play a significant role in the story.) It wouldn't be the same without either. And having elfscum would help balance the revive-mechanic." (Steam-Powered Shovel)

Now was this the best time to do this? It will certainly get speculation started, but probably the exact sort of speculation that SPS doesn't want - speculation as to how he came up with this. The only way to get out of it is to prove he knows the source material cold (or nearly so) or use the Finrod sadfeclaim. This is not something which is ordinarily beneficial to say when no one has said anything about this or indeed is even considering who among the Elves may be scum at all, and less so when under mderate suspicion.
SpyreX, can you tell me your "secret scum tell" now?The great advantage of the tiger in unarmed combat is that he eats not only the raspberry-laden foe but also the raspberries.- MehPlusRawr

I never really trusted Anon the brief time we were neighbor's plus the role I had was so weird.
I was like how the heck do I play this thing. Once I reached a certain point in the game and choose PZ as the person to have the sim it worked out better. I nvm fully trusted him. He was playing really terrible I noticed later thru most of the days.
Killing cobalt was very satisfying for me. Having him flip scum was priceless.
I really thought MPR was going to be scum. I wasn't expecting 2 scum on one team and 5 on the other.
This was what I said to the mod after kill Cobalt
Looks like I deleted the QT topicMÃriel Therindë wrote:
For the record, having one shot and using it like that was exactly not what I imagined when I created this role, yeah. Having only one shot was supposed to suck in a different way . . . But that's okay with me; it's certainly working fine for you. Shifting killer working for the Town isn't bad at all, flavorwise.farside22 wrote:I'm sure this is not what you imagined when you created this role. A shifting killer that works for the town. Egads!
I'm so happy the scum killed Anon for me. That helped tons.
I have a feeling that possession and moving to someone else was a wild thought you had but in my view bad strategy to use based on my win condition.
I considered for a moment to move over to kmd's possession but getting papa killed may take work and I'm not sure frankly if he is town or scum. I just know I don't trust him fully.
Anyways I needed to talk to someone about my thoughts on everything so far.
Oh and for the record having a one shot still really sucks but killing a player that is scum is priceless.
Possession and moving to someone else may seem to have been a wild thought but really was put in because I did see where it would be a strategically better move than the alternative - that is, there are situations where you'd be given to a random member of a subset of players and would probably rather choose a player instead of leaving it to a dice roll.Sarcasm is just a way of saying how stupid you think someone is but in a more polite way.- curiouskarmadog

woo hoo a win...
I actually faked claimed a bit....I was a one shot hider...but hider claims are always lynched...I saw that the tide was changing to my lynch, so I was hoping by fake claiming (or heavily hinting at) a supersaint, that my lynch could be evaluated to see who was quickly jumped on and who was afraid to hammer...however, I realized that if I claimed to have the Sim, that someone might have to counter claim...thought that was a poor idea....sooo blah...good game town as I thought my lynch was chalk full of scum.annnnd, I am retired.- curiouskarmadog

My fakeclaim was an obscure Elf, but I hadn't really been playing like an Elf. I was too worried about dying. I didn't think anyone would believe it. So I decided to make-up my own fakeclaim in hopes of bringing out the real Huan, since I figured he was probably a PR. If I were really lucky, I thought he might be a fakeclaim for a HoM'd player.MehPlusRawr wrote:So, what was with the Huan claim, Iece?
The flavor and everything else was totally fabricaed. I was happy with how it turned out. I was a little surprised people weren't more skeptical of Drip given that it appeared he was claiming Namecop Elf Lovers, but he'd gotten my name wrong.
I thought CKD and/or Drip were Elfscum. - Iecerint
